I live in Kelowna and think about this place often. We went to Penticton for the day and stopped in Polish Bistro and I was very impressed. The most authentic Polish food you will get in all of the Okanagan. The perogies, the schnitzel, all of it was absolutely amazing. The walls had a beautiful mural of Gdansk, made me feel right at home! Unfortunately did not get a picture as we demolished it right as it touched the table. I will be sure to come back every time we're in Penticton again! read more

Finally! A go-to spot in Penticton. I finally found a restaurant in Penticton I actually look forward to eating at. The food is excellent, the service is top-notch, and the ambiance is spot on. I really appreciate that they haven't crammed the place full of tables--it feels relaxed and personal, not like you're dining with strangers. The pierogi are fantastic, the sausage is seriously tasty, and the portion sizes are just right. And the borscht? Hands down the best I've ever had. Bonus points for excellent parking, too. We used Yelp to find this place. We were laughing as a previous review stated it was the best meal they ever had. So we had to try this place. The food was amazing. We ordered lots between the four of us. We make chicken cutlets (Italian style) at home all the time. Their schnitzel was was as good as Nonna's and my wife's. The variety of perogies was awesome. Best we ever had. They're that good. The cabbage rolls were incredible. My favourite of the meal. Meatballs were fantastic. Everything is obviously homemade using the best of ingredients. I'll say this is easily one of the best restaurant meals I've ever had. It's about the food and that's what matters to us the most. My boyfriend's grandmother used to make him perogies and he said that he's not had such good perogies till we found this place. We are from Vancouver and once drove 4 hours to come here. We ended up buying a whole bunch of frozen perogies to go. This place is very unassuming. The owner is super friendly. Highly, highly recommend. I found my happy place in Penticton and it's not at the beach! So yummy at the Polish Bistro Restaurant and can't wait for my next visit. The home-made cabbage rolls and pirogies were scrumptious. With each bite, I felt the motherly love of the chef. The Pirogies were perfectly pan-fried while the dough stayed tender and the cheese fillings creamy. The cabbage rolls were solid and so easy to put a knife though without it falling apart. My friend had the Schnitzel Tenderloin and it was not greasy but crispy and tender. Enjoyed talking to the owner and learning about their move from Thunder Bay to Penticton and running their business. They are a hard working husband and wife team and glad they are in BC champion Polish food. The menu is affordable and the wine list is local. On the walls, a few large photo murals take up the restaurant. The largest photo is Gdańsk where the owner once lived and so beautiful. read more

The food is delicious. My husband's family is from Poland and we always have to go here every time we're in town. I had a few pierogi and a really fresh green salad. Reasonable prices, nice staff, and it was nice and cool in the restaurant despite the extreme heat. Beer wine and vodka (duh) available, but no cocktails. read more

Coming from a fellow Eastern European, I absolutely loved this place. Not only did it have a welcoming and homey feel, but it is family-owned and has beyond delicious food. First off I cannot talk more positively about the owner. He is so friendly and proud of his food and will take the time to talk to your table about anything, especially experiences from eastern Europe or comparing and contrasting similar cuisines/dishes. I really like the menu items especially because you can create your own combos, so naturally I had to try pretty much one of everything. I got the schnitzel, make sure you add the mushroom gravy, it is DEVINE!! I also got one of each type of pierogi which came sautéed in butter and onions with a dollop of sour cream. My favourite pierogi was definitely the spinach and feta, it was so unique and flavourful, but all of them were really good! Best pirogies in town!! Home made, soft & plump with yummy fillings - potato/dill & potato bacon are my absolute faves! Nice big dollop of sour cream& green onion garnish too. Borscht is amazingly delicious with a deep red broth (bright pink w/ sr cream added), lots of veggies & dill with perfect amount of vinegar! Get the big bowl!! Cabbage rolls are huge & firm with rice & meat, but disappointingly bland & the soggy chewy cabbage is not appetizing, and what's with the meagre sauce? Overall I enjoyed my meal, except for the CR, and the host is polite & attentive. The interior is dark & dreary except for the magnificent painting of Warsaw that covers one wall. read more

I was surprised to find a Polish Restaurant in Penticton, so when it came up on Google with 4.8 overall reviews I had to try it! I'm Polish so whenever the opportunity comes up I try to support local Canadian Poles. My dinner was delicious. I ordered the schnitzel with mushroom gravy and steamed veggies. It was fresh and cooked perfectly. I could cut my schnitzel with a butter knife, the veggies were not over cooked, and the mushroom gravy was a highlight! This is the kind of food my grandma would make on a weeknight. Nothing special, nothing flashy, just standard good Polish food. The menu isn't very imaginative and caters to a more North American pallet. You can get your standard Polish fare. I would have liked to have seen some cucumber and vinegar salad, some bigos, more wild mushroom flavours throughout. There were no vodkas on the menu which is a bit sad. I love a shot or two of vodka with Eastern European food. They did have a Polish beer or two though. The decor is also a bit odd. It's a bit cheap looking but very clean. Immaculate actually. I'm giving this place a 4.5. If you are into plain, no frills Polish food then this is a great place. If you are looking for a little bit more imagination or some lesser known dishes this isn't the place for you. I would absolutely eat here again. Maybe next time they'll have some Żubrówka behind the bar. read more

Wow! Best schnitzel ever! Not deep-fried! I order the platter every time for the great variety and my husband orders the schnitzel with perogies every time. My platter has cabbage rolls, perogies, sausage balls, and a salad and all are so tasty. The little salad is so basic but so good! We try to visit here once a month at least. We came across this delightful little Bistro on vacation and it was truly one of our favorite meals on the trip. The bistro was clean and modern with a large photograph of Warsaw on one wall. The service was attentive and our meals were delicious. The schnitzel was tender and the pierogis with dill on top really flavorful. Excellent! I had the cheese perogies and cabbage roll and I can't remember tasting anything better! My partner had the polish sausage as well and he said it was one of the best meals he has ever had. Great service, and I'm not sure if it was the owner serving us but he was awesome. He was like a one man show, hosting and serving, yet was super polite, genuine and friendly and never seemed frazzled. We had the borscht. It had a strong back taste of those cheap beef bullion cubes and no dill - none. What is beet borscht without dill? This was such an exciting sight to see. Having spent a lot of time gutting the space and making it fresh and new, I was so happy to see the food was just as good. As a husband and wife team, you can feel the pride both in the service and quality of the food. Everything from the perogies and crepes to the pork cutlets and cabbage rolls are all equally delicious. The simple salad of lettuce, tomato, onion and vinegar is just as good! In the dozen or so visits I have had so far, the food has been consistently great and the service welcoming. The husband does the serving, and he greets each and every person with a smile and cheerful hello. He recognizes return customers and engages everyone in conversation. If it's particularly busy and he is the only one serving, he is quick to apologize and still runs circles around most servers I have seen. I have never seen anyone appear to be neglected in any way. Having gained a solid following in such a short time, Polish Bistro is going to be one of the businesses which will be able to weather the storm of the quiet Penticton off season. If they aren't careful, they may find themselves needing a larger space! read more
