First time coming here for dinner rather than upstairs for lunch and was pleasantly surprised! The ambience and atmosphere was very pleasant. We started with the ceviche (they had snapper that night, very good but very lime-ey!) and the white fish dip, both were delicious. Fresh tuna that is cut in house! Not previously frozen! For some reason it's super difficult to find a fresh piece of tuna in Charleston, and places like the Royal Tern will lie about it. We had great, knowledgeable , timely service with wonderful ambiance. One improvement would be to taste the cocktails as they are coming out. The egg white cocktail my wife ordered was too floral, and needed more citrus ILO Violette. To the inexperienced palate it would likely be acceptable, but to ours it tasted like perfume. The flavor was watery. $60.00. My son ordered the crab soup. He said it was floury and gummy. Did not taste good. The raw oysters were good according to my other son. Overall we had 7 people and the raw oysters were the only item that met expectations. The service was very slow and inattentive, although there was a dessert on the house for our birthday celebration. $750.00 for a meal that was less appealing than most chain restaurants. One of the only waterfront restaurants in the area, the Kingstide has a wonderful ambiance with a downstairs full dining room and patio plus upstairs balcony and bar. I was drinking the Maritime Mango, a reposado based cocktail that is light and refreshing and the perfect amount of sweet. I did try my partners espresso martini and enjoyed it, the espresso is the top note with a hint of sweetness. To start we had the ceviche, it was fresh and well seasoned. I had the Blackened Mahi Tacos for my main and I cant wait to get them again. The fish is incredibly well seasoned and complimented by the jalapeño crema perfectly. My partner had the DI Burger and it was really the perfect classic burger. Our waitress/ bartender since we sat at the bar upstairs was incredibly friendly and communicated about the drinks/ kitchen well. I highly recommend trying this spot if you're in the area, but is genuinely worth making a trip out to from whatever part of Charleston you live in. read more

Super duper overrated. I'm sorry. They have a menu that's not even one page long. Anytime there's a menu like that whatever is on the menu should be out of this world. They have several seafood platters. And I don't mean the fried platters I mean a platter of ice with either oyster clams or shrimp. I have been to several restaurants in the city and I will never order oysters on a shell again. Every time I do the oysters are so small they might as well be clams. You do way better going to an oyster roast. They came with cocktail sauce vinegar. I had no idea what to put the vinegar on because I had never seen this. I tried the vinegar on everything and I still don't get it. The platter I picked had boiled shrimp that was pretty good and tasted fresh. Very salty clams and oysters that were very small. And something like a crab dip. It was $70. I could have done better at home for half the price. The crab rice was extra extra crunchy. Not even close to Hannibal's crab rice. For some reason this place was extremely hot. The waitress said it's not usually like that there was a problem with the air. Just my luck I guess. The calamari was very good. Not enough aioli for such a large portion in my opinion. It is a great scene. Great dating atmosphere. I can kind of see why people will give this four or five stars. But if you're a avid seafood lover who wants more bang for their buck you will not understand this place. It's like California dreaming. You pay for the backdrop. I spent almost $150. We came here for our anniversary and couldn't have picked a better place to celebrate our special day. It is beautiful inside and out. Cecilia was our server and was absolutely amazing and went above and beyond in taking impeccable care of us. She treated us as if we were regulars even though it was our 1st visit, but it definitely won't be our last. We had raw oysters and clams and the fried calamari for an appetizer and both were spot on the oysters were perfectly small and super fresh. My wife had the swordfish special which was amazing. I had the crab agnolotti it was the best pasta dish I have had in a really long time. Our children were also extremely pleased with their shrimp and grilled cheese and were delighted with their ice cream for dessert. Very disappointing meals tonight. We were in town visiting family and celebrating a birthday. After being highly recommended we expected a lot better quality and taste. The menu choices were very limited in our opinion for an expensive waterfront restaurant. Seafood platter was poor quality. Pasta dish was small and little flavor fish sliders were awful. I love the environment of this place. Sit outside and you get a nice breeze, shade, and a view of trees covering the ocean view. It's fun to people watch. The service is decent. Nothing outrageous. I just got some apps the Burratta and tuna tar tar. The Burratta needs more toast points. Sort of ridiculous to serve it with only once slice of bread cut into 2. Also it could use a higher quality olive oil and a little less. The tuna tasted like I got it from Publix. For raw tuna I would hope of a nice quality and it just tasted a little off. We dined at The Kingstide last night for my birthday dinner. First, and very important to me, let's discuss the vibe. The Kingstide has it. You enter, it's dimly lit with low music playing, an all around beautiful and clean atmosphere. It's located right on the water - beautiful views no matter where you sit. Service was friendly and as quick as they can; they seem very busy. 4 stars because my dish, the mahi, was severely over cooked and burned; it heavily impacted the taste of the dish. I didn't send it back, but I probably should have. Our server likely would have accommodated! Overall, the food is presented beautifully and has excellent quality. Friends recommended this restaurant and suggested we sit upstairs. The wait was 45 minutes and we realized the menu was very limited upstairs so we went downstairs to see if we could get a table. The hostess downstairs told us "reservations only, downstairs" implying that all reservations were FULL. After sitting on a bench outside for 15 minutes trying to search for another nearby restaurant we noticed that open table was taking reservations for Kingstide. Wow! The hostess must not have wanted us to eat there because all she had to do was direct us to the reservation button on their website. I don't think we were dressed THAT badly but she made us feel like we were not good enough to eat there. We visited The Kingstide on Daniel Island this past Sunday. It was an absolutely gorgeous Sunday afternoon which made dining on the patio a must! And not knowing how the crowd would be we made sure to get in line before they opened at noon. We started off with the mussels and also the calamari to split between four of us. I don't know which one was better as they were both exceptional! The toast that comes with the mussels might have taken the win for our table. It was a very unique red sauce that came with the mussels, not your traditional white wine buttery sauce. What a nice change it was! I couldn't turn down the burger as I love a good smashed burger. Two patties on a lovely sesame bun. The burger comes with waffle fries which are always a good change up from traditional fries. I got a White Thai as the weather was screaming for a good light wheat beer. My husband got one of the tequila cocktails and said it was quite tasty! Definitely a good spot to try out if you're ever on Daniel Island. Try to go when the weather is nice so you can take advantage of the beautiful patio. read more

Everything about the Kingstide was perfect, from the patio views to the service and the food. It was a 5 star experience all around and made for the perfect birthday dinner! To drink, I got the Greek dirty martini. The olives tasted high quality and the olive juice added a unique feta and oregano flavor to the martini. For appetizers, we got the oysters Rockefeller and mussels. I enjoyed the oysters Rockefeller, but it was hard to taste much of the oyster because the creaminess outweighed the seafood taste. The mussels were phenomenal! They were pretty big and the tomato sauce that they came in was really flavorful. It all paired really well with the saffron aioli too. For our main course, we shared the seasonal fish, mahi mahi. It was a really mild fish, so it just took on the flavor of the amazing sauce. It was also served with well cooked mushrooms and some mashed potatoes. The kitchen even went the extra mile and split the dish into two plates, since we were sharing. We also got the roasted carrots and brisket fried rice. The roasted carrots had an amazing charred flavor and were served with an umami miso sauce and mint yogurt. I soaked every bite of carrot in those sauces, because it all tasted magical. The brisket fried rice was also possibly the best fried rice that I've ever had!! I've had so many different fried rices and make it frequently myself but the brisket fried rice was on another level. The ginger flavor really stood out and cut through the fattiness of the brisket. I also appreciated that the rice itself was perfectly crispy. Clearly the chef knows how to make rice! To top it all off, we got the blood orange semifrito. It was like a sorbet and the perfect refreshing end to our meal. Even the meringues that topped the semifrito were perfect! I'll 100% be coming back to kingstide on my next trip to Charleston! Really good seafood, large portions, super cute venue and views, great staff, and quick service. Expect to spend $20-50 on dinner here. We sat inside on the top floor for dinner and still had beautiful views of the waterfront. There's a big bar with sports on the TVs and an open kitchen on the other side. It's a really cute place for a date or just dinner with friends. The lobster roll was huge and delicious and the waffle fries were so good. The lobster Cobb is also enormous and tasty. We also tried the salmon rillete which is kinda like a lox dip? And the oysters Rockefeller which were good. Overall, food was stellar in terms of taste and portion size. Our waiter was super nice and we had multiple other staff members check in on us too. The food came out very quickly and we watched it go straight from the kitchen to our table. Everything was very clean inside and they always took away finished plates very promptly. Overall, excellent experience here. Just the location itself is 5 stars! Went in on a Saturday afternoon and found plenty of seating upstairs. Corey was super attentive and got my friend and I menus shortly after we sat down. The signature cocktails drew my attention, the sound of a warm spiced apple rum punch sounded ideal for this semi-warm day. For appetizers my friend went with the fried calamari, the star of that dish was the caper aioli. I've never had oysters Rockefeller and lemme tell ya - it hits the soul in the best way, that hollandaise breadcrumb spinach bacon combo was sheer bliss!! I was hoping to try the lobster roll but it wasn't on the menu anymore so went with the Cesar salad which tasted great and fresh! Oh my... I was hesitant to come to KingsTide because of mixed reviews, but I was so wrong. It was fantastic. We scored a very early reservation and were seated in from of the massive windows overlooking the water. What a view!! People were sitting on the outside patio with overhead heaters & portable heating lamps. Not for me, I stayed inside!! Service was attentive & courteous. The server was great and she had a healthy knowledge about the dishes. The place filled up really quickly. Each one of the dishes were excellent. I chose raw oysters & mussels. My family had octopus and sides of Brussels and rice with crab. We finished off the meal with a decadent key lime pie and coffee. The whole experience was great and we will definitely be back. Newest addition to the DI dining scene - seafood forward and great light dishes that seem to work for all we take here. The kids chicken and fries dish is huge and the waffle fries are next level. The kitchen will substitute things if you ask nicely and the wait staff are always very friendly and attentive. The menu rotates a bit- keeping ingredients and flavors seasonal. The bar upstairs opens early and has a reduced menu with most of the favorites. View is the best on the island and is just lovely in the Fall. read more

Came here for a birthday dinner. This was my first time coming out. The location is amazing! It's on the water in a pretty secluded residential area. It has indoor and outdoor seating, as well as a bar area. The staff was friendly and quite accommodating to make my birthday dinner amazing. My husband ordered the shark, and I had the lobster ravioli. For an appetizer we ordered a roasted cauliflower dish that was surprisingly very delicious. The description of it on the menu doesn't do it justice. And for the dessert, I had a berry cheesecake. The staff was so sweet to light a candle and bring it out for me. Only downside I felt there menu didn't have a ton of options. Not sure if they rotate their menu out or not. But overall a great place! read more

Great food, amazing view and great service. One of the few waterfront restaurants in the Charleston area and in my onion one of the best!

Met a friend here the other night for a belated birthday drink. I hadn't been here before so it was nice to get to take in the view and the surrounding area -- it is seriously gorgeous here, with a beautiful view of the river (and the bridge). I would sit on the porch next time for sure. We each had a cocktail and then moved on to beer. The drinks here are a surprisingly reasonable price - $10/$11 per cocktail, $6ish per beer. We also split both the hush puppies and the calamari. I wish the hush puppies were more exciting - they were standard fare and would have benefitted from a hot honey glaze or something in my opinion. The calamari was good, too. The apps were also a reasonable price and I would order them both again once I've tried a few more menu items. Our bartender (whose name I didn't catch, I am so sorry!) was very nice and handled a full bar by herself without seeming to be flustered or confused. The one "con" to the visit was the dirt lot on the other side of the road. It's really the only place to park if you can't get a street spot, and it was obviously not meant to be a parking lot as it has a full curb you have to drive over. My car is a mid-sized SUV and had trouble getting over the curb. I know that's not their responsibility but it's just something to keep in mind when you are planning a visit. read more

I don't love that they automatically give larger parties (6) one receipt but I know that's slowly becoming the new norm. Food - if you aren't happy, they make it right so you are. Key lime pie with the charred marshmallows and crunchy crust, fall sangria tastes like fall, fish sliders are so inventive and the tartar sauce complements perfectly (ask for extra), burrata. Atmosphere... rooftop bar, lively but controlled, so it was enjoyable. The set up was pleasant and refreshing even during rain and humidity. Happy hour is very affordable. Did you ever want to really like something no matter what? Well that's how I felt about the Kingstide. We've watched this complex go up from day one and have admired the transformation of the waterfront and waited for the restaurant to open with great anticipation. Decided to give it a few weeks to work out the kinks so finally got there today. I will confess I'm not a seafood person so won't be able to judge that part of their menu. My wife ordered the burger and fries and I ordered the Caesar salad. Very long wait for the food with no apology from server for the delay. From our vantage point we could see the food runner handling the tickets and frankly he looked totally confused. A great many burgers were ordered and they were piling up. As we expected when the burger and fries finally arrived they were lukewarm at best. Had to go back to be reheated. My Caesar salad actually came after the burger and to put it simply it was quite ordinary. Minimal amount of dressing , two tiny anchovies and no croutons or bread crumbs as stated on the menu. It is not my nature to write anything negative about restaurants as I appreciate the time and effort it takes to make it work but in this case in my opinion given the management and the expectations we had I just thought it would be much better. At some point I will return but for me I enjoy the food and service a lot more than a great view and with so many great dining options in Charleston I'll look elsewhere for now. read more

Fabulous waterfront dining. The rooftop bar is a fun/bustling spot to pop in for a drink, a bite, and a view. The downstairs dining room (often books full so good idea to make a reservation) also has great food, drinks, and a full dinner menu. Also has some key appetizers not available upstairs (like the grilled octopus which was soooo good!). Plus there is an open kitchen which is fun to watch, especially if you sit at the bar along side it. Staff were friendly and service was spot on. This has to be the best restaurants on Daniel Island and one of the best in Charleston. read more

Well our 2nd visit was a bigger failure than the 1st one when they opened. Grilled octopus was mushy and reminded me of string cheese. It's supposed to have a snap and firm.
