Lobster bisque
Ollie G.

Solid spot , maybe the best food on Daniel island. Lobster bisque was good, could have used a couple chunks of lobster. Also wish they did the happy hour in the restaurant and not just upstairs. Soft shell crab was nice on the bed of corn. Server was very very attentive.

Came to Kingstide for oysters and wine. It's always such a lovely experience. The oysters were fresh, the wine was great, and the atmosphere was absolutely beautiful. The waterfront views, the relaxed upscale vibe, and the attentive service, make it the perfect place to slow down and enjoy a great meal. Definitely worth a visit on Daniel Island.

This was hands down the best overall dining experience my wife and I have ever had. Not only was the food excellent, but we mentioned in our reservation that it was for our baby moon. Our servers Monica and Zoe printed custom baby moon menus for us and made excellent menu recommendations based on what my wife could eat. The service was next level, and the food was as well! Highly recommend for a special night out. They let us take our menus home to frame them in the nursery too!

See the pieces beside the fork?

Ambiance - good Service - good Food - $35 for a lobster roll that you have to pull shell out of? Disappointing.

Blackened Grouper on Grits

Fantastic food, service, and atmosphere. Had the Blackened Grouper which was amazing!

Great evening for a first visit at the kingside. My friend dreams of their carrots and recommended this location for our monthly girls night. Located in Daniel island on the waterfront, they have a beautiful establishment with walking paths all around so you can enjoy some time before and after you dinner. We had early reservations on a Friday evening and were sat immediately with the option of indoors or outdoors. We went with the outdoor option, per recommendation of the hostess. So glad we did. The view was beautiful and the breeze off the water kept a 95° evening relatively cool. We started with the carrots, and the burrata in which both were standouts. We shared the blackened grouper per the waiters recommendations and it was lovely. I'm generally not a fan of grits - but these cooked with tomato and mushrooms with the perfect balance of butter was exceptional. We finished with the carrot cake to share and was also a deliciously prepared menu item. The drinks were strong and perfect. Our waiter was so fun and personable. Cannot wait to visit again.

The Kingstide completely delivered on its promise of fresh, coastal-inspired cuisine with a view. Service was excellent throughout the meal. I started with the Fried Calamari, perfectly crispy and paired with a tangy caper aioli. The Blackened Grouper over creamy Marsh Hen Mill grits in a shiitake tomato butter was a standout--rich, flavorful, and beautifully plated. The Lobster Pasta was indulgent and incredibly well-balanced. For dessert, the Carrot Cake was the perfect finish: moist layers, cream cheese frosting, and a crunchy spiced topping that added just the right texture. Whether you're visiting Charleston or a local looking for a special night out, The Kingstide is a must-try.

Duck Agnolotti

We went to Kingstide and had such a great experience. We ordered the Lowtide to start with shrimp cocktail, oysters, clams, and crab. It was well worth it and honestly pretty filling for two people. My favorite part was the crab dip, it was delicious. We followed it with the fish sliders and the duck agnolotti, which ended up being the perfect amount of food. The sliders were simple but really good, and the duck pasta was so nice and slightly sweet. It paired really well with the mushrooms and felt super comforting. The interior is beautiful and the staff was really kind and welcoming. We went at night during the winter so it was cold, but the view was still really pretty. I would love to come back during the daytime to see it in the light. Overall, great food, great atmosphere, and definitely worth a visit.

Dining at The Kingstide was a lovely blend of waterfront ambiance and thoughtfully prepared food and my recent dinner featuring the Caesar salad and calamari captured that spirit perfectly.

I have now patroned this restaurant twice with my parents and both times have been equally as wonderful. Located on Daniel Island it boasts both indoor and outdoor seating, wonderful water views, and even has boat club docking for those fortunate to arrive via waterway. Named for the Coastal grandest high tide the Lowcountry experiences, is also the inspiration of the interior and seasonally changing menu. Both visits we were greeted by friendly hostesses, our servers were very knowledgeable about the menu, had great suggestions, and especially inquired about food, allergies in a very nonjudgmental, and accommodating manner. Further, any time a prepared dish was brought to the table, whoever brought it mentioned the preparation being careful of the food restrictions we listed which shows how seriously they prioritize accommodations. On that same topic, my mother has mobility restrictions and there were multiple handicap parking, a ramp or 3 stairs to the entrance, and an elevator to reach the second story. For those without mobility restrictions, there is easy parking. Just passed the entrance and very easily walkable for able-boddied. I started with a Kingside cosmo to drink, and we shared the Fish Sliders(2) pickled pepper tartar, Hawaiian roll. Note the pickled pepper tartar is the sauce (not to be confused with tartare fish). I ordered a Caesar salad with parmesan, boquerones, bread crumbs, cured yolk with steak added for my protein. My parents are typically hard to please and often critical but both thoroughly enjoyed splitting the Cesar salad and SNAPPER over butter bean succotash, grilled zucchini. We ended the meal splitting the delightful KINGSTIDE CRUNCH BAR with Nutella and chocolate and the consistency of mousse, cornflake crust and garnish, plated with vanilla ice cream. Zero complaints, plentiful compliments.

This experience had high highs and low lows. It truly is a beautiful space and the walking trail out front allowed for us to do a scenic walk before our meal. The second floor is first come first serve and more of a bar vibe. We went on a Wednesday and were the first ones in the restaurant yet somehow had the worst service I've ever had in Charleston. Our server was nonexistent and difficult to find despite the restaurant not being full. Our plates were never once cleared and we had to seek him out multiple times. He never fired our dessert so we waited nearly 20 minutes for it to come out. We started with the hush puppies which were genuinely bad. If they didn't have the butter they'd be inedible. For our starters we got the Caesar salad and tuna tartar. The Caesar was one of the best I've had but the tuna lacked flavor. For our entrees we did the short rib, fish and a Caesar add chicken. The short rib and fish were very flavorful and yummy but the chicken on the Caesar salad was the taste, texture and aesthetic of concession stand chicken. A very odd surprise especially given we assumed it would be grilled chicken when ordered. We ended our meal with the carrot cake and apple tart. The apple tart was burnt which was unfortunate. If we had not waited 20 minutes for it to come out we would have probably sent it back and asked for a retry because the flavors were there. The carrot cake was a large slice but slightly bland. All in all, a lot of work to be done. There were definitely redeemable qualities with some of the order but I would not go back for service alone.

Hugo Spritz

This was a little happy hour popping my first time going here as well. Decided this would be the perfect place to grab a quick bite before I went to an event and instantly realize I'm gonna have to go back again. I love this location. It's right by the water. The restaurant is two stories so it has a rooftop with amazing views. It was a nice warm summer afternoon. I decided to go with a Hugo spritz because that was refreshing and light and for my bites I went with the roasted meatballs and the focaccia bread and the both of them were yummy. This is a great space if you love waterfront dining. The service was fast. We got there right around the time happy hour started so there was not a wait. You won't be disappointed with this gorgeous view. It's a great way to spend it in afternoon. I bet they have an amazing brunch too. I think when I go the next time that's what I'm going for.

There wasn't a DJ or live band. But they did have music on speakers. The hookah doesn't start until 4pm for the day party. We got the cocktails, shots, shrimp and grits, steak and eggs, chicken and waffle, seafood egg rolls, salmon bites and fried cat fush. Everything came out quick and was great! The cocktails were on point as well. Some said their drinks were strong. But we all finished our drinks nonetheless. Everyone loved their food. They didn't have any oxtails available so we couldn't try the oxtails and grits. So if you're looking for an intimate brunch experience this is it on Saturday 10am to 3pm. That shouldn't stop you from placing a togo order though because I saw five people come in for pickups while I was there. We decided to stick around and have our late lunch/early dinner in house. We hadn't eaten all day so we may have over ordered for two, but we enjoyed the leftovers the next day. We started with the tempura vegetables that had a super light fry on them and a good variety of veggies. Then we both had bento boxes which included veggies, rice, dumplings, sushi and a protein. On one we had teriyaki chicken and the other was scallops plus an add on of chicken katsu. I thought the scallops were going to be normal sea scallops, but they were the tiny bay scallops. Still tasty, but worth knowing before ordering. I'm glad I doubled down on protein with the chicken katsu which came on it's own plate with dipping sauce. Now that I know what to expect, I'll definitely be stopping in again for dinner or placing a togo order when I'm near Clements Ferry.

They continue to put out a unique menu using northern clams unlike any other local truck or popup. I recently went on July 3rd for National Fried Clam Day! I couldn't go last year so I was excited to check it out. I know logistically getting whole belly clams is difficult, but I hope they decide to do this more than once a year. Whole belly clams are a Massachusetts specialty. If you were to compare them to anything it's similar to fried oysters, but not exactly. I like them, but my friend loves them more than anything so we made a point to go. They were set up at The Garden by Charles Towne Fermentory, which was fitting because it's like a play on the Boston Garden in my head... haha. Anyway, we got a couple orders of clams that came with slaw, tartar sauce, and a bag of chips. I also went inside to get a beer. We sat out at one of the picnic tables and listed to trivia while devouring our clams. I was hoping we would have some left over so my friend could have another go at them, but they were too good. The owners were super nice and happy to be supporting the northern transplants down here with a back home delicacy. While they don't have the whole belly clams but once a year (as far as I know), their other food is great too and I highly recccomend you check them out.

I am currently under medical care and my diet is limited, so there are very few places I can go where I can truly enjoy my meal. Poke Bros was PERFECT for both my dietary restrictions and my husbands lack of any! I was able to build my own bowl, beginning with a choice of bases: a variety of rices and quinoa. I choose sushi rice, as did my husband. A few of my toppings were $1 extra, but I was ok with that and the person making the bowl for me informed me each time I chose a topping that cost extra. My bowl was a delicious, fresh combination of sushi rice, arugula mix, seaweed salad, mango, avocado, roe, ponzu sauce and a sprinkling of tempura crunchies. My husband's bowl was sushi rice, seaweed salad, marinated tuna, roe, sesame seeds, and soy sauce. I like that the company prepares the ingredients in small batches, because it allowed for maximum freshness, too. The restaurant was very clean, the service was EXCELLENT, answering any questions and offering opinions when I asked, kindly guiding me through the process of ordering my bowl, and the food was fresh and delicious. It's a bit more expensive than fast food, but MUCH better tasting, healthier, and more flavorful and still less expensive than a sit-down service restaurant.
