I love the Kingsman. We came in on a Monday night for an early bird supper before an impromptu bowling date. We arrived around 6 and the place was already hopping pretty good, but we were able to nab a booth right by the entrance to the main dining room. On Mondays they have Steak Night, which means their ribeyes are a few bucks cheaper. I opted for the small Ribeye (which is 10 ounces and huge), onion rings and salad with Parmesan Peppercorn dressing. My SO also got the small ribeye but with French fries and the exact same salad as me. If you like a salad, this is a good place. All of their dressings are made in house and are super delicious. I personally love the Parmesan Peppercorn, but I've also tried the Thousand Island and the Bleu Cheese, both of which are fantastic. The salads are served ice cold with captain's wafers on the side. The Ribeye was so good this time that I didn't even really eat my onion rings. The two I tried were pretty good, and crispy, which I like. I ate most of my 10 ounce steak because it was perfectly seasoned and cooked perfectly (Medium Rare). This is a great place, and one of our favorites over in Cayce. I want to come in on a Tuesday sometime for the All You Can Eat Spaghetti! The Kingsman is a great local place that is filled with locals from all walks of life who just enjoy good food. We were told this was a great place that was dog friendly so we went and sat on their patio, now I don't know what was going on inside but after our waitress took our drink order we didn't see her for almost 20 minutes (enough time to go back to the car to get bottled water and our dogs bowl because it was hot and we didn't even have water yet) our water came and were told our drinks were on the way. (yay!) 10 minutes later we got our drinks and asked would we like to order food? we laughed and said no thanks we'd just like our check since it would probably take half and hour to get it. She promptly brought out our bill and said thank you and we got the first smile....not so much as a sorry for the wait. We will not be returning, life is too short! read more

This is an odd place. The open kitchen is right up front,next to the cashier, like a diner. There's like a breakfast counter in front of the kitchen, and a table with another small counter facing the TV. Go past all that, and there's a dining room with a more typical bar. I decided to sit at the counter in the kitchen to view the flat top grill all the Yelpers have been raving about in action. They have a lot going on here, and the employees are always moving. The guy running the grill seemed to know what he was doing. Tonight the ribeyes were on special, so that's what I ordered. The salad came in a plastic bowl with the dressing in a plastic cup on the side. It was a salad. Nothing special about it. My steak was cooked perfectly, but it wasn't a great cut of meat. Good, but not great. Had a big hunk of gristle, and the meat wasn't terribly tender, but had good flavor. The steak comes on a metal plate that's mounted inside a plastic bracket. I've seen metal plates on wooden holders because the metal plates are heated to make the steak sizzle when it's served, but you can't do that with this plastic holder. Again, odd. I ordered fries as my side and it was a very generous helping, but kinda crowded with the steak on the plate. Hard to have ketchup on the plate for the fries and keep it away from the steak at first. However, one thing that bugged me sitting with the kitchen view... the wait staff wasn't using proper handwashing procedures. They'll breeze in and garnish plates and carry them out, but there's no handwashing before grabbing things and plating them up. One waitress actually stuck a napkin/silverware roll under her arm, finished making the plate up, and then grabbed the plate and took the silverware roll out from under her arm, presumably to deliver to a customer! I know they were busy but, c'mon! Really odd! Fortunately, she wasn't who was waiting on me. The service I received was very prompt and courteous. Very busy for a Monday night, so it must be popular. They're making some good food on that flat top grill, and that's probably what's been keeping customers coming for all these years. But the place could use some updating and some training on food safety. read more

The portion sizes are very generous. Staff is very friendly. My husband really enjoyed the endless spaghetti night. Dining area is very comfortable and you don't feel crowded or cramped. I showed up here on a Tuesday kind of late. Ended up ordering the "All you can eat Spaghetti " for $10. I didn't even finish the first bowl it was that huge! This was sauce like my grandma used to make. Ground beef, onions and bell peppers, in a tomato sauce. Really brought back some good memories. It's served with garlic bread and a side salad. I had the lemon vinaigrette- very good! I also tried the chicken liver appetizer. Oh man, the gravy they serve with their perfectly crispy livers is RIGHTEOUS! It's a brown gravy with the whole grain mustard in it. I know that sound weird, but it tastes awesome. Nice and rich with a tand of mustard spice.., yum! Why 4 stars? This steakhouse is a good place to go if you just want a good steak and decent service (once you get seated) for a good price. Do not choose this restaurant if you want to be treated like a valued guest in a gracious environment. I wouldn't recommend it for a place to take guests for a special occasion. At all. For me, it did not live up to the hype. First of all, it is find your own table and good luck. If you get there after 5:30 on a Friday prepare to stand around awkwardly in a small crowded space waiting for someone to leave. Luckily, we got there before 5:30 so that fate was spared us. It is oddly laid out. The register where you pay is in a narrow little passageway between the busy waiting area and first dining room where the bar is. You walk through to the second dining room if you're lucky enough to find a table there. The first dining room seemed very claustrophobic as people were standing around waiting to pay or going in and out constantly amongst the seated diners. I ordered the beef tips, salad, and Taz's Taters. the salad was tiny and basic and came in a clear plastic bowl. (that one little touch kind of sums up the ambiance.) The beef tips were not generous, but they were pretty good. The potatoes were a disappointment. It was a plain potato with the skin on smashed up with mushrooms onions and ham. It sounded good, but because there was no butter or sour cream or cheese it sounded better than it tasted. Also, I chomped down on some dirt on the skin. One of my friends had the onion rings which were great: abundant, crisp, and not greasy. The rest of my party seemed very happy with the meal and had no complaints. This would be a good place for a late lunch. The hamburgers look delicious. Two other positives: the glass of wine was ginormous, and they have another location in Lexington which is supposed to be nicer. Will definitely give it a try. read more

Only had one take out here, a steak sandwich, was not terribly impressed, maybe I was unlucky, people seem to like the place. My take out order took quite awhile to fix up for me, seemed to be more like a steam-table place for everything other than the steak. Can't say the steam table items were anything more than average. I've been eating at the Kingsman for at least 35 years. I used to be crazy about the steak tips in mushroom gravy.... until I discovered the Palmetto burger. to die for. I eat at only a handful of restaurants and this has been a go to often.. Well, as often as I can actually get someone to take my order. All during the pandemic, we only ate at local restaurants in an effort to keep them afloat. We spent a huge sum of money here. Sadly,, I think I'm going to have to give up my habit. The staff here doesn't give a crap about customers. They routinely take the phone off the hook, sometimes for hours. I have tried three times in the last two weeks to order food and pick up from there and every single time I was met with busy signals for an hour and a half at least. On my way to pick up food at another restaurant, I decided to ride by and check out what was going on. Sure enough, the phone was off the hook, and they were not busy. In fact, two of the three times half the staff was standing around with their cell phones texting or Facebooking or whatever they do while they have the phone off the hook. We typically spend at least $50 per visit. So I'm estimating $150 in losses over the last two weeks just from one customer. I wonder how many other customers decide to go to other restaurants because they can't get through to place an order? I'm certainly not gonna drive there and sit around and wait when I can call another restaurant, order my food and have it ready when I get there. The owner has had this brought to his attention before and clearly he doesn't need the money or care that he's losing it or his customers. Oh well, if you want to let a bunch of young folks, too lazy to answer phones, run you out of business, I guess that's what will happen. We will miss you. read more

If you go to the Kingsman you must try the rib eye, they cook it on a well seasoned flat top grill and do it to perfection. If your into a great hamburger try the "Throne" burger it is huge and absolutely delicious. They have good food and are always packed for a good reason. read more

If I could give this restaurant 0 stars I would. I ordered the salmon with a loaded backed potato but sadly didn't get to even taste it. Second the restaurant was packed with people and our waitress was visibly over whelmed. My water had stuff floating in it asked for a replacement got attitude and was bought another one which still had stuff floating in it. I was bought and third and I told them I didn't want it . The waitress was very agitated by this swiped the water and wasted it in my lap. I left came back and both females were talking about my whole table. Sometimes everything around you is awful and you need a steak to make the world feel right again. In the name of self-care, I wanted red meat, taters, and whiskey. I also didn't want to go into town after dark and deal with street closures and boil water advisories. I had several friends over the years tell me the kingsman had great steaks and so I figured I'd try it, and stay local. Let me say only one thing here: zomgz I got beef tips which are my favorite because I'm lazy when I'm hangressive and they're already cut for me. I asked for them slightly above moo (medium rare for anyone being technical), worrying they would overcook it and I'd get well done because that often happens with beef tips cuz they're snipped. Naw, these were PERFECT. Just to my liking. Well seasoned. Meaty and melty and I had an experience, y'all. And I got a jack n coke that was mostly amber colored and a nip of that, a bite of that, and a tater so tender I ate the skin too because I'm that kind of hedonist. Go big or stay home, amirite? Go eat there. It was midpriced. It was fine eating. Everyone was friendly. In the parking lot I even struck up a convo with silver haired gents also oogling the 2016 'vette because in my world there are no strangers especially when we all have steak-belly and car lust. As a Cayce-West Columbia native I've been eating at the Kingsman for as long as I can remember. I've been there through the ups and downs, but usually it is only on the up and up. The Kingsman has one of the best ribeye steaks in the state for 1/2 the price of what you'd pay at a steak house or national chain. On Thursday nights it the special and even cheaper! Each steak is always hand cut and cooked to perfection. Come early on Thursday as this is a well known fact and they tend to run out close to 9:00. Strips and tips is my go too other nights. Yummy steak tips, grilled chicken, and mushrooms and onions is just divine. The Hamburger steak (add mushrooms, onions, and peppers) is good too. You have to try the "Taz's Taters" best side for any meat and potato guy/gal. The burgers are great too. In the last year or two they have a special house ground ribeye burger special every night. Make sure you check the special board. Cold beer, cheap good food, served with a side of southern hospitality. Can't beat this place! read more

I thought I should post an updated review. This is an older establishment. It's not fancy but it's friendly and comfortable. The rib eye burger is good... it's juicy and cooked to order. It's fresh. Again. Nothing fancy. My husband had the ribeye steak. It is a little on the thin side but tasty also. The salads were very good and very fresh with great salad dressing. If I lived here we would definitely come back. It's one of those easy places to come back to. I would bet the food is always the same and you know what you are getting. Consistency. Phenomenal. First time tasting fried pickled jalapeño. It is not hot, rather it is tangy like a pickle. The onion rings were friggin perfection. Best burgers in town, made with fresh ground ribeye, seared to perfection on their flat top. Also, you can not go wrong with the BBQ on Thursdays (especially their fall off the bone ribs). Try the burger specials, they are usually good combinations, or order the Kings Thrown (delicious 10 oz fresh ground ribeye with white cheddar, fried jalapenos and bacon). I usually get it all the way (with lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle, mustard and mayo). The fries are really good, cooked to crisp perfection. I've lived in Columbia for 20 years, how have I never been to this place before? Thanks to our friends for the introduction. I wasn't sure what to think essentially walking in to the kitchen. They were steadily busy, so I figured it must be for a reason. We started out with a few appetizers. We got the pretzels and cheese, chili cheese fries, and corn nuggets. All three were good. The cheese sauce was a different. I guess it being a beer cheese changed the flavor, so I would have rather had just plain cheddar. The corn nuggets were great. I got the steak tips and strips. Both were good, but the steak tips were my favorite, so I will stick to those next time. Several others in our party got the hamburger steak, which they liked. I saw several Philly Cheesesteaks going out, which looked really good, so I think I am going to try that the next time we go. read more

Me and husband decided to go out to dinner we ordered two steakburgers both made medium. One was cooked medium the other one was made very rare. My husband noticed that the meat smelled like it was spoiled. The waitress we only saw her one time. Great little place. Neat decor. I had Liver and onions. Yea yea but for those of us who like liver it is very hard to find and even harder to find done well. Kingsman did a great job. Came with a nice salad and baked potato. Wife had the Strips and Tips (teriyaki chicken and steak) again with salad and baked potato. Very tender and tasty. The collard greens are so yummy that I could eat them every day! Corn nuggets were very tasty too. Great specials & the staff was very friendly!! It may seem like a tight squeeze when you first walk in with the bar close to door but there's plenty of tables & space on the other side of the wall.
