We visited here few days ago with our son. We decided to get some much needed food after a day of walking around the picturesque castle espie, there are plenty of seats in the cafe part lots of seats most of them boasting lovely picturesque views of birds and castle espie, so relaxing looking out those windows. Now the food bit I ordered a baguette with ham, cheese, onion and mayonnaise , hubby ordered Thai green curry and the toddler only wanted chips and a juice, so I asked for a chip with my baguette and a baby sized portion of chips for the wee man, I noticed at the till the server charged me £2.20 for a Childs chip and £2.00 for an adult chip which was bigger , I asked for the kids chip at the end that's how I know she charged me more for the smaller chip, we then ordered a carton of juice which was £1.25 , bit steep in fact all of what we got came to just under £20 which I thought was quite expensive for what we got considering she forgot to bring me a chip I'd already paid for, she brung it to us quite quickly. All in all the food was nice but expensive I thought. I would go back but only for a coffee and that beautiful view of castle espie. The queue was about 5 people long but waited almost 10 minutes to get served and the servers seemed quite stressed and rushed but other than that I liked the cafe part for the view mostly , food was nice , local food served here, local meat, local fruit, bread, pastries buns etc and proper ice cream in tubs and a kids activity drawing table , toddlers play area too. read more
