It was one of the best pork tenderloins I've ever eaten! My only wish would be to cut the onions thinner so they don't fall off of the sandwich. You could tell the tenderloin was pounded out by hand and hand breaded. Very tender and tasty! They mailed it in on the coleslaw. It was runny and had a funky taste so I switched it out right away for the fries, which were good. My number one complaint at a restaurant is if the server doesn't come and ask me within five minutes if I need anything or if the food is OK. Guess what didn't happen? The guy next to me had the wing's that looked like drumsticks. I'm definitely going to come back and try those. I'm going to wear my sunglasses too and pray for a just little better service. All that being said, I have dined at fine restaurants and diners all over the country so I'm a little bit picky.

I was served a salad with not very warm crumbled hamburger on it. It was served in the shell so I don't think they mixed up the order with what they had as a hamburger salad. The hamburger lacked seasoning was not warm and overall didn't work in this dish whatsoever. To day it was a disappointment was well what happened. I had to wait a while for it so I struggled through eating some of the salad but left disappointed. I did like the service. Our waitress was great. The place also is very nice inside. I may recuperate and return and try something else to see if it is any better.

We ordered the fried green tomatoes, and they were delicious! We also had the fried chicken with mashed potatoes and jalapeño mac and cheese--everything was incredibly tasty. The chicken was really good, and the mac and cheese was our favorite. I had the prickly pear margarita, and it was awesome. For dessert, we tried the honey lavender cake with blackberry, and oh my--it was absolutely delicious. Prices were very reasonable overall. I 100% recommend this place!

You can't get much more Hoosier than Hoosier Roots. Where else can you get the best damned fried…read morechicken and mac & cheese behind a liquor store and across the street from Dollar General? ONLY IN INDIANA. I've heard about Hoosier Roots since they opened. It's about an hour from my house (thank all things holy!) and it's TOTALLY WORTH THE TRIP. (8 minutes outside Brownsburg) We kept it simple- 1 order of chicken (8 pieces, yep, 1 whole chicken) 1 small jalapeño mac & cheese, and because they had house made fried pickles, what the hell- add those, too. Walked out with 2 containers of left overs, all for the grand total of $37. Hoosier Roots ain't bougie. This is a jeans & t-shirt place. But, dang- the chicken is better than my grandma's out of the cast iron skillet. I would absolutely take my fancy friends from out of state to get a REAL taste of Indiana. Trust me- they'll be talking about it for ages. We better be careful, it might become the next ironically hip place that the likes of me can't get in to.
