    Beer can chicken

This place is a true hidden gem. I was visiting my son and he recommended we go here. We started out with the bread and butter. It was phenomenal. Perfect in every way. Wam and soft with a delicious sweet cinnamon butter. We ordered the fried green tomatoes, in my opinion, some of the best I've ever had. We had the beer can chicken and jalapeño Mac and cheese. Both were outstanding! This cute little place is a definite must try!

Tried the apple cider pork loin and it was amazing. Very tender and full of flavor. The waitress kept our drinks cold and full. Very quick to get such a delicious meal. I love this place

Holy Yum! A hidden gem in Pittsboro and most definitely worth the trip out of Indy. We've been twice now and can't wait to come back again. We had a cocktail, I think it was called a Gold Rush. It was so good that we might have had a few of them. It was made with Maker's Mark and was super refreshing and light. We started with the fried green tomatoes and then shared the brussel sprouts, gnocchi, smoked salmon, and bbq chicken. I'm looking forward to the leftovers! Everything was amazing. The brussel sprouts were perfectly crispy and moist. The lemon on the gnocchi kept me coming back for bite after bite. I'm not willing to share the leftover dill and caper smoked salmon with yogurt sauce. It's that good. That BBQ chicken was amazing too. It's bone-in with a sweet, smokey, and slightly spicy flavor. We shared an incredible bottle of wine. I like a dry, barely sweet, full-bodied wine and this was a perfect wine, in my opinion. We drank it with the honey lavender cake, which was so moist and delicious. The service is also excellent. I'd highly recommend giving Hoosier Roots a try and am looking forward to coming back!

My bff wanted to come here for her birthday, so I packed up and headed west. HR sits back off Main St (Hwy 136) in a small, nondescript building just behind the liquor store. Don't blink or you'll miss it! Entrance is on the west side of the building. I knew I was in the right place when a very friendly employee greeted me and asked me how many were in our party. It's a smallish dining space, but they do have a small bar and long wooden tables that look like they would hold at least 10 people each. Seems like a fun place to have a special event! Our waitress was quite attentive and friendly, helping us navigate the menu and make some choices. Note: the entrees are served family style! She and another friendly patron at the bar described their house wine drinks (of which you can choose a flight to try them all). We opted to start with drinks, fried pickles and the charcuterie board. For our main entrees we chose the fried chicken and gnocchi with a side of jalapeño mac and cheese. The charcuterie board was amazing with a variety of meats, cheeses, olives, hummus, veggies, Dijon mustard and toasted baguette slices. A little secret about the pickles: they're sweet (and delicious)! When the entrees arrived we were even more impressed, especially by the gnocchi. My friend's hubby said they reminded him of an herbed dumpling, and that's a true statement. They were so tender and melted in your mouth! I didn't try the chicken, and my pic doesn't do it justice, but everyone else devoured it, as well. The mac & cheese was also unique in that it had a great jalapeño flavor without a ton of heat. The cheese sauce, wow! Just like my gma used to make. They were even so nice as to let us eat our own bday cake at the end of our meal! We rolled out of there satisfied and truly happy to have tried this gem of a place. They also offer catering services. I, for one would be thrilled if someone told me they were bringing HR's food in for a meal!

Love that the small town of Pittsboro has another family sit down restaurant option. Located about 25 minutes from Indy, it's nice to have a new option. I got the beer can bbq chicken nachos and loved the bbq and queso. I personally ate the whole thing, so if you're hungry and eating it as a meal, I would say it only feeds one. Dishes are served family style, but I would say if you're hungry the dish probably serves 2 people. The kids meals were a solid portion. Next time I want to try the fried chicken with some of the delicious looking sides. Don't skip on the drinks and custom cocktail menu. The Mai Tai is suburb and there is a full bar. I overall enjoyed my trip. The waitress was super sweet and attentive and I can't wait to try more.

Admittedly, I'd like to be selfish and keep this place to myself and the few others who know how amazing it is, but that isn't fair to the restaurant. So, here's why you need to go to Hoosier Roots ASAP. 1. If you order family sized portions, you get family sized portions. By that, I mean I ordered the fried chicken, and I got a WHOLE CHICKEN FRIED. I'm talking wings, drumsticks, breasts, and thighs, and this bird was DELICIOUS. The crispy breading on the outside has great flavor, but it is not covering up how good the chicken is. It is so juicy! 2. The jalapeño mac & cheese is better than your grandma's, and after you taste it, you'll probably begrudgingly agree with me. It's even good reheated for lunch the next day because, of course, you'll have leftovers! 3. The Maker's Mark Revolver is one of the most subtle coffee cocktails you'll ever have. I am a fan of old-fashioneds, but I enjoy drinks that vaguely play off that style more. I also enjoy boozy/spirit forward cocktails. This drink is smooth and sophisticated, but it will make you anything but if you have too many. Unfortunately (or I guess, fortunately depending on how you look at it) for you, they're so good, that's pretty likely to happen. The restaurant is a bit limited with seating, but the food is worth any wait. Even if you do have to wait, the portions will make up for your increased hunger. The service is as awesome as the food. So, take people with you, and tell your friends about this place (just not too many...)

We had a great dinner last night at Hoosier Roots. Party of 5 and they were very busy. The drinks and food kept coming, our server was busting her buns! I didn't get pics of everything, we started with the Potato rolls with Maple Butter, yum yum yum! Then Fried Green Tomatoes with Remoulade sauce. We ordered family style and had Fried Chicken (delicious), Mashed Potatoes and Gravy, Mac n Cheese, Brussel Sprouts, and one person had the Smoked Rib special with Corn casserole. The Ribs were superb, great smoky flavor and fall off the bone. Can't wait to go back and try other options.

Hoosier Roots did not disappoint! The dinning area inside is very small; if you want to sit inside I'd suggest you get there early. We didn't want to wait, so we decided to sit on the patio outside. They have a cocktail menu as well as some wine and beer options. There is a menu for sandwiches, and then another menu for larger plates to share. We tried the beer can chicken, Brussel sprouts, and jalapeño macaroni and cheese. The portions are large and enough to share between 2-4 people. The food was excellent, and everything tasted homemade. I can't wait to come back! The presentation of the food and drinks were excellent.

Little gem in Pittsboro with more then enough homemade items on the menu. Fast service with bar rail seating and outdoor patio seating. Great ambiance for lunch and dinner.

Do not blink...or you will drive right past this little gem of a restaurant! Quaintly sandwiched between a liquor store and Scamahorm Park off of 136 and N Maple St in Pittsboro is a little restaurant disguised as a house. There is parking in the front behind the liquor store and parking in the back of the house that you have to access through the park (I believe). It's a little tight but worth the aqueeze. I went on a Tuesday evening around 6"30 and I got in right before the rush. You seat yourself and wait for Brandi to come and warmly welcome you and take your drink order. They have a few signature cocktails and a few microbrews on tap. I ordered the beer can bbq chicken nachos and they were hot and very filling. The chicken was tender and the queso nice and melt as it was served in a small cast iron skillet fresh out of the oven. They have family style meals such as fried chicken, pork loin, and roast beef with their sides being al a cart. The seating inside is tight and the bar area seats about 5 or 6. There's a TV at the bar with some sports playing g and all the decor is hard wood. The service is top notch and I definitely recommend Hoosier Roots if your in or around Pittsboro.

If you want to take a little drive to find some good down home comfort you need to check out Hoosier Roots!! It is a little difficult to find because it is located behind a liquor store and the sign is hard to spot. Don`t give up! We were a little excited to try a lot of thing so we totally over ordered and ending up taking five boxes of leftovers home. Not a terrible problem to have. For our first course we had the fried pickles, fried green tomatoes, and yeast roll with maple butter. The fried pickles were tangy, crunchy, and had a great batter on them. You could really taste the pickles, which I find is not always the case because the batter overpowers the pickle tang. The fried green tomatoes were pretty good, but didn`t blow me away. The rolls were very soft and the butter was a nice, slightly sweet compliment. For the main course we ordered the fried chicken, roast beef, brussell sprouts, mashed potatoes, and green beans. The fried chicken was definitely the best part of this course. I recommend using a drizzle of honey and hot sauce to jazz it up. It was very crunchy and moist on the inside. Even the chicken breast was not dry at all. The roast beef had a really good texture and flavor to it. A little different from your typical roast beef because it did not fall apart. The mashed potatoes were also excellent! They had a nice tangy sour cream taste to them. After all that we were stuffed, but still got a Texas Sheet cake to go. The cake was an individual cake, which is large enough for four decent sized slices. It came with raspberry sauce which really complimented the chocolate well. It did not have icing which surprised me because Texas Sheet cake usually does, but it was very good. This place is small, but cozy. It was not very busy on a Friday, but I think they might have more business from their catering operation. I am glad we tried it and we`ll definitely come back and maybe order less.

First time visiting, won't be the last! Staff super friendly and courteous, they make you feel at home! Corin helped us and she is great! The chicken was very juicy and almost falling apart! The mashed potatoes and green beans had good flavor and perfect sides for this home cooked meal!! This is served family style, so we get at least one more meal from this order!! I would highly recommend Hoosier Roots for some great small town hospitality and great food!!

Woppo's specializes in street tacos, though they do have several other items on their menu. I arrived fairly late in the event today. Things weren't quite winding down, however, it's the time of day when things are a bit slower and some trucks start running a bit short on items. Woppo's was offering: Street tacos (served on corn or flour tortillas with onion, cilantro, and line with a choice of meats). Prices were in the $4-5 range. Tacos Al Carbon (Flour Tortilla loaded with choice of meat and covered in white queso). Prices were in the $6 range. They also had some nacho dishes and quesadilla options loaded with cheese and choice of meat. I think they may have had a taco bowl, as well. They also offered sides of refried beans, rice, fried jalapeno, and tortilla chips. They also had some add-ons and some beverages available (Coke products and a Mexican drink called Jarrito (if I remember correctly). Their online menu indicates they also have churros, stuffed churros, and cupcakes when available. I ordered chicken quesadillas - I think it was 2 that made for a good-sized meal. The price was $10 plus tax. The employees were friendly - my sense is that this was family operated and they were all quite delightful. They were starting to run out of ingredients - I saw them change things up for a couple people, however, I also saw them refund folks if the price for what they actually got was lower. I will admit I was initially leaning toward a 4-star rating because the actual process was just a lot slower than I'd hoped. It wasn't super slow, but for someone on a lunch break it definitely was time-consuming. However, I'm upping it to a 5-star for a couple reasons. First, the employees were awesome and the young man working the cash register was just super. Secondly, I have to be honest. This quesadilla was phenomenal. The ingredients were mixed perfectly and the way it was grilled was just outstanding. It may very well be the best quesadilla I've had (I'm admittedly not an expert). It was cooked perfectly in every spot. Just a delight. So, it's hard to get things absolutely right on a food truck. But, this was good food with good service and a fair price. I may wish it had been a bit faster, but it couldn't possibly have been better. Five stars all the way.
