Tried the apple cider pork loin and it was amazing. Very tender and full of flavor. The waitress kept our drinks cold and full. Very quick to get such a delicious meal. I love this place

Holy Yum! A hidden gem in Pittsboro and most definitely worth the trip out of Indy. We've been twice now and can't wait to come back again. We had a cocktail, I think it was called a Gold Rush. It was so good that we might have had a few of them. It was made with Maker's Mark and was super refreshing and light. We started with the fried green tomatoes and then shared the brussel sprouts, gnocchi, smoked salmon, and bbq chicken. I'm looking forward to the leftovers! Everything was amazing. The brussel sprouts were perfectly crispy and moist. The lemon on the gnocchi kept me coming back for bite after bite. I'm not willing to share the leftover dill and caper smoked salmon with yogurt sauce. It's that good. That BBQ chicken was amazing too. It's bone-in with a sweet, smokey, and slightly spicy flavor. We shared an incredible bottle of wine. I like a dry, barely sweet, full-bodied wine and this was a perfect wine, in my opinion. We drank it with the honey lavender cake, which was so moist and delicious. The service is also excellent. I'd highly recommend giving Hoosier Roots a try and am looking forward to coming back!

My bff wanted to come here for her birthday, so I packed up and headed west. HR sits back off Main St (Hwy 136) in a small, nondescript building just behind the liquor store. Don't blink or you'll miss it! Entrance is on the west side of the building. I knew I was in the right place when a very friendly employee greeted me and asked me how many were in our party. It's a smallish dining space, but they do have a small bar and long wooden tables that look like they would hold at least 10 people each. Seems like a fun place to have a special event! Our waitress was quite attentive and friendly, helping us navigate the menu and make some choices. Note: the entrees are served family style! She and another friendly patron at the bar described their house wine drinks (of which you can choose a flight to try them all). We opted to start with drinks, fried pickles and the charcuterie board. For our main entrees we chose the fried chicken and gnocchi with a side of jalapeño mac and cheese. The charcuterie board was amazing with a variety of meats, cheeses, olives, hummus, veggies, Dijon mustard and toasted baguette slices. A little secret about the pickles: they're sweet (and delicious)! When the entrees arrived we were even more impressed, especially by the gnocchi. My friend's hubby said they reminded him of an herbed dumpling, and that's a true statement. They were so tender and melted in your mouth! I didn't try the chicken, and my pic doesn't do it justice, but everyone else devoured it, as well. The mac & cheese was also unique in that it had a great jalapeño flavor without a ton of heat. The cheese sauce, wow! Just like my gma used to make. They were even so nice as to let us eat our own bday cake at the end of our meal! We rolled out of there satisfied and truly happy to have tried this gem of a place. They also offer catering services. I, for one would be thrilled if someone told me they were bringing HR's food in for a meal!

Love that the small town of Pittsboro has another family sit down restaurant option. Located about 25 minutes from Indy, it's nice to have a new option. I got the beer can bbq chicken nachos and loved the bbq and queso. I personally ate the whole thing, so if you're hungry and eating it as a meal, I would say it only feeds one. Dishes are served family style, but I would say if you're hungry the dish probably serves 2 people. The kids meals were a solid portion. Next time I want to try the fried chicken with some of the delicious looking sides. Don't skip on the drinks and custom cocktail menu. The Mai Tai is suburb and there is a full bar. I overall enjoyed my trip. The waitress was super sweet and attentive and I can't wait to try more.

Admittedly, I'd like to be selfish and keep this place to myself and the few others who know how amazing it is, but that isn't fair to the restaurant. So, here's why you need to go to Hoosier Roots ASAP. 1. If you order family sized portions, you get family sized portions. By that, I mean I ordered the fried chicken, and I got a WHOLE CHICKEN FRIED. I'm talking wings, drumsticks, breasts, and thighs, and this bird was DELICIOUS. The crispy breading on the outside has great flavor, but it is not covering up how good the chicken is. It is so juicy! 2. The jalapeño mac & cheese is better than your grandma's, and after you taste it, you'll probably begrudgingly agree with me. It's even good reheated for lunch the next day because, of course, you'll have leftovers! 3. The Maker's Mark Revolver is one of the most subtle coffee cocktails you'll ever have. I am a fan of old-fashioneds, but I enjoy drinks that vaguely play off that style more. I also enjoy boozy/spirit forward cocktails. This drink is smooth and sophisticated, but it will make you anything but if you have too many. Unfortunately (or I guess, fortunately depending on how you look at it) for you, they're so good, that's pretty likely to happen. The restaurant is a bit limited with seating, but the food is worth any wait. Even if you do have to wait, the portions will make up for your increased hunger. The service is as awesome as the food. So, take people with you, and tell your friends about this place (just not too many...)

We had a great dinner last night at Hoosier Roots. Party of 5 and they were very busy. The drinks and food kept coming, our server was busting her buns! I didn't get pics of everything, we started with the Potato rolls with Maple Butter, yum yum yum! Then Fried Green Tomatoes with Remoulade sauce. We ordered family style and had Fried Chicken (delicious), Mashed Potatoes and Gravy, Mac n Cheese, Brussel Sprouts, and one person had the Smoked Rib special with Corn casserole. The Ribs were superb, great smoky flavor and fall off the bone. Can't wait to go back and try other options.

Hoosier Roots did not disappoint! The dinning area inside is very small; if you want to sit inside I'd suggest you get there early. We didn't want to wait, so we decided to sit on the patio outside. They have a cocktail menu as well as some wine and beer options. There is a menu for sandwiches, and then another menu for larger plates to share. We tried the beer can chicken, Brussel sprouts, and jalapeño macaroni and cheese. The portions are large and enough to share between 2-4 people. The food was excellent, and everything tasted homemade. I can't wait to come back! The presentation of the food and drinks were excellent.

Little gem in Pittsboro with more then enough homemade items on the menu. Fast service with bar rail seating and outdoor patio seating. Great ambiance for lunch and dinner.

Do not blink...or you will drive right past this little gem of a restaurant! Quaintly sandwiched between a liquor store and Scamahorm Park off of 136 and N Maple St in Pittsboro is a little restaurant disguised as a house. There is parking in the front behind the liquor store and parking in the back of the house that you have to access through the park (I believe). It's a little tight but worth the aqueeze. I went on a Tuesday evening around 6"30 and I got in right before the rush. You seat yourself and wait for Brandi to come and warmly welcome you and take your drink order. They have a few signature cocktails and a few microbrews on tap. I ordered the beer can bbq chicken nachos and they were hot and very filling. The chicken was tender and the queso nice and melt as it was served in a small cast iron skillet fresh out of the oven. They have family style meals such as fried chicken, pork loin, and roast beef with their sides being al a cart. The seating inside is tight and the bar area seats about 5 or 6. There's a TV at the bar with some sports playing g and all the decor is hard wood. The service is top notch and I definitely recommend Hoosier Roots if your in or around Pittsboro.

First time visiting, won't be the last! Staff super friendly and courteous, they make you feel at home! Corin helped us and she is great! The chicken was very juicy and almost falling apart! The mashed potatoes and green beans had good flavor and perfect sides for this home cooked meal!! This is served family style, so we get at least one more meal from this order!! I would highly recommend Hoosier Roots for some great small town hospitality and great food!!

If you want to take a little drive to find some good down home comfort you need to check out Hoosier Roots!! It is a little difficult to find because it is located behind a liquor store and the sign is hard to spot. Don`t give up! We were a little excited to try a lot of thing so we totally over ordered and ending up taking five boxes of leftovers home. Not a terrible problem to have. For our first course we had the fried pickles, fried green tomatoes, and yeast roll with maple butter. The fried pickles were tangy, crunchy, and had a great batter on them. You could really taste the pickles, which I find is not always the case because the batter overpowers the pickle tang. The fried green tomatoes were pretty good, but didn`t blow me away. The rolls were very soft and the butter was a nice, slightly sweet compliment. For the main course we ordered the fried chicken, roast beef, brussell sprouts, mashed potatoes, and green beans. The fried chicken was definitely the best part of this course. I recommend using a drizzle of honey and hot sauce to jazz it up. It was very crunchy and moist on the inside. Even the chicken breast was not dry at all. The roast beef had a really good texture and flavor to it. A little different from your typical roast beef because it did not fall apart. The mashed potatoes were also excellent! They had a nice tangy sour cream taste to them. After all that we were stuffed, but still got a Texas Sheet cake to go. The cake was an individual cake, which is large enough for four decent sized slices. It came with raspberry sauce which really complimented the chocolate well. It did not have icing which surprised me because Texas Sheet cake usually does, but it was very good. This place is small, but cozy. It was not very busy on a Friday, but I think they might have more business from their catering operation. I am glad we tried it and we`ll definitely come back and maybe order less.

    Awesome fried chicken!

Tonight was our first visit to this tiny restaurant in Pittsboro. It's an unassuming place tucked in behind a couple of other businesses and kind of hard to find. We walked in and were greeted by Brandi who seemed genuinely pleased that we were there! If you've followed my reviews before you know that's a very important thing in my book. The dining room is very small, and has a couple of large tables to accommodate people in a family style setting and then a half a dozen individual tables in another room. The menu is small but with ample options for us. We chose the fried chicken which turned out to be a big hit! I absolutely loved whatever kind of seasoning they used on the chicken had never really tasted anything like it before. The meals are served family style meaning you choose one entree that will serve two or three people so Deborah and I shared the chicken. We didn't order any side dishes but instead had their wedge salad which came with deep fried pork belly. This is not a fancy restaurant that you're going to take someone to to impress them, but for good old-fashioned home style Hoosier cooking, I give it two thumbs up!

The ribs were tasty but they gave my jaw a workout, which I do not like. The Chuck Norris though was an impressive sandwich. It came on Texas Toast with pulled pork, brisket, fried egg, bacon, onion, and Pimento cheese. The brisket or pulled pork would be what I would go to next time. For my sides, I had beans, potato salad, and Mac and cheese. All were phenomenal but potato salad was the best! It was a mustard base whipped style. The beans were the pinto beans/ranch style with tomatoes and a vinegar taste. The mac and cheese was creamy with goldfish on top. There are 4 sauces and all were phenomenal. I wish I could take all of them home!. You have the tomato bases in a mild, zesty flavor and a spicy, habanero flavor. There is also Carolina Mustard and Bama white. I think I loved the mild the most. There is fresh-brewed sweet tea which is hard to come by in Indiana but this Bama Boy would love it to be more sweeter. It was a step above water. The Chuck Norris, sauces, and sides make Rusty Silo easily a 4-star. If the spare ribs were easier to chew, a 5-star from this guy would have been given.

Super disappointed to leave a one star review but my experience with Graze Craze has been horrible…read more I received a gift card for my birthday and I went in person this week to place an order. When I walked in, I heard someone say from that back that they'd be with me in a little while. It wasn't long before a young man came out to speak with me. It was about 90 minutes before closing and he immediately told me I should not expect service right before closing. I apologized, said I thought they closed at 6pm, he said they did, then said he'd go to the back to see if they'd be willing to talk to me. Someone was in the back washing dishes, but never came to the front. The same employee came back out, sighed, and said he'd take my order. I told him I had never been in, I just heard about it from the gift card, and was curious what I could order and what was included with the menu items (inside, it's just a counter and a table off to the side with trays/boxes with names, but not prices or a list of what comes in them). He told me I should read the TV, which looked to be off at the time. He turned it back on while huffing and puffing, then said "LOOK!" at the menu, which was just names of the boxes with prices, not sizes or again what's included/what I can choose from. I remained calm, despite feeling uncomfortable, and again asked if I could see a list of what's included or what I can choose from, and if I can pick something up same day or order for a future pickup (I was honestly hoping for a grab & go cooler like other similar places but no problem, I can order something for another time). I still have no idea what items are available, as the employee was just getting more and more mad at me with each question, which he refused to answer. I told him I was feeling uncomfortable, which he just said, "okay!" so I said I didn't feel like I was wanted there as a customer, and I left. I've tried calling the store to rectify the situation and maybe speak with a different employee or member of management. Either the phone just rings and rings or the same employee I spoke with in-person answers. I really wanted to use my gift card but I'd rather throw it away than go through that experience again. I'm very discouraged at this point, but glad I can get great products and service at The Bountiful Board instead.

From pizza to calzones to salads. We enjoyed a pizza and salad. The salad was enough to split with the two of us. Within 15 minutes, our pizza arrived at our table. We ordered at the counter. I'm not sure if you sit at a table if they will come and take your order or not. We will go back!

Got diverted from our original dinner plans and decided to head to So Italian for the first time…read more We ordered a couple of the Ryan's sticks. These are breadsticks with pepperoni in them. They were pretty good. One of my dining partners ordered the lasagna with 1/2 marinara and 1/2 Alfredo. They said it was a bit dry, but otherwise pretty good. The other had the chicken parmigiana sub. They said it was good, chicken was juicy. I opted for the meatball sub. The meatballs were pretty good but the bread was the star of the show. Crispy yet soft and a bit chewy. Just excellent bread that made the sub outstanding. We all then shared a tiramisu dessert. I liked this quite a bit primarily because it did not have any real coffee taste to it, but my dining partners didn't like it as much for that same reason. Easy parking. Order at the counter, food brought out, self service drinks, etc. It's not a fancy place, but good food. I'd go back.

Met up here with friends for lunch yesterday and had a great time. They only have a few parking…read morespots right next to the actual business, but there are several other areas to park nearby with less than a minute walk. The inside is decorated super cute and has a couple of rooms with seating, so a small group of people can still have lunch together despite the small space. You order at the counter, but then everything after that is table service unless you want to order more food or drinks. They have a drink/dessert case near the register that had some tasty looking dessert options (lemon cake, matcha cheesecake, beignets, macarons), but I didn't try any during my visit. I ordered a 24oz iced banana bread latte with almond milk, a turkey and gouda toastie (a fancy grilled cheese), and a side of kettle chips. One friend also ordered the turkey and gouda with extra turkey and our other friend ordered a different toastie with a cup of tomato soup and a sweet tea. We all really loved our lunch, with one friend saying she liked her sandwich more than the last cafe spot we met up at. The food took longer than I would have thought to come out, but it was because the group next to us had ordered food right before we came in and we hadn't realized. They also forgot my side of kettle chips, but I just walked back up to the register to ask them for it. Loved that they offer a 24oz size for iced coffee, so I'll definitely be stopping in here again soon! They have order forms at the register to build your own charcuterie board to eat there or take to-go. I definitely want to come back to do that- it would be the perfect snack to have at a park picnic. The group next to us had all ordered small charcuterie boards, which was why the food took a little longer to come out. They all looked tasty and were the perfect size for one.

I had an iced raspberry mocha - also very good. They had a display case filled with dessert choices which looked incredible. The service was friendly and quick. It's in a small house on Main St in Brownsburg, and you have to pay attention or you might miss it. I would definitely recommend this cute little restaurant!
