    Peterdick Sandwich
    Adam G.

TURF Catering + Kitchen was recommended by a fellow foodie. No idea where the name comes from, but I kinda like it. What I don't like is battling traffic on 82nd street in Castleton. Especially since this gem of a restaurant is rather hard to find -- if you blink, you might miss the building, as it is hidden behind a car shop and an Arby's, with limited signage from the street. The inside is small, less than 10 seats total. If you come during the lunch hour, expect to get your food to-go. Menu is limited and focused on sandwiches. But not just any sandwiches, some of the best in Indianapolis. I went with the Peterdick at the recommendation of the employee at the register. This mammoth of a sandwich comes with butter smoked turkey, ham, bacon, lettuce, tomato, red onion, pickles, fresno hot sauce, cheddar, miso mayo on ciabatta. The meat is cut thick like Thanksgiving turkey slices. I don't know how to describe the taste other than it was simply delicious from start to finish. If you're a sandwich lover, you gotta add TURF to your list of places to try.

My husband was very leery that his wife was taking him to a tiny spot next to Meineke, but I told him to keep an open mind. I knew he was going to have his lunchtime mind blown once he bit into his smoked chicken wing. Spoiler alert: the wife was right because TURF has mastered the art of smoking poultry. These are officially my second favorite chicken wings in Indy! You know what food item on their menu board tops as my first favorite in town? The bread pudding. I imagine this sweet, gooey, and boozy would taste like a hug (if you could actually taste a hug). Even if you're feeling full, make room for this dessert! So what did my husband learn after our trip to TURF? Always trust in his wife's lunch choices.

Giving this place 5 stars is as easy as living and breathing. Straight up, INCREDIBLE sandwiches. There is something about this place that makes you feel so rooted and appreciative of what small business restaurants are: just serving good food for good people without any fuss or frills. This place is small inside with limited seating, but when it warms up, there are plenty of picnic benches outside. Now back to these sandwiches: feels like you're being wrapped in the warmest most flavorful blanket ever. Meaning that yes, despite everything on these sandwiches (which is a lot), they actually fulfill the purpose of staying together! Honestly defies physics. I had their blackened chicken melt, but my bf got their peterdick, which I think is what they're best known for. I loved both, but definitely coming back to order the peterdick for myself! Their menu switches up and they have soups and salads sometimes too, and each sandwich is served with kettle chips. A place I already trust enough to say I'll actually try every item on the menu, and be back countless times!

The best wings I've ever had in Indy.

This teeny little hidden gem of a place has the best wings (yes, THE BEST) in all of Indy. I asked what the secret was and was only told that they were brined. That day they were prepared with Parmesan and garlic. My mom ordered the shrimp and grits, raved about it and made me send a picture to my dad. I couldn't stop taste testing the grits. They're that good. It's counter service and they'll bring the food to you or they also seem to do a robust carry out business. The staff was super friendly and really seemed to enjoy interacting with customers. My only complaint is that I wish they were open more hours (weekday lunch only so far) but they are busy with catering, so we take what we can get. It's a little out of the way in Castleton, but try to make a point to get there. You'l love it.

Pete's Pride: pork five ways, celery slaw, pickles and sauce on fresh, toasted bread. $13. Worth every penny and every single calorie.

SHUT UP. TAKE MY MONEY. AND GIVE ME TWO OF EVERYTHING. I work in the area so I noticed Turf a couple months ago, but finally made plans with a friend to head there for lunch. There are now just two stages in my life: before Turf & after Turf. Now that I'm finally living in the Age of Enlightenment, there are a few things I'd like to share about Turf. Friendly, attentive service Some of the best damn food I've ever had...EVER Seriously good ingredients; scratch cooking Flavorful is an understatement Consider wearing pants with an elastic waist It's a smaller space for dining (about 14 seats total), so if you're planning to eat there just be mindful of the size of your group. If you haven't been to Turf for lunch, get there. Yesterday.

The special board. Changes daily and you can check it on Facebook ahead of time.

Congrats to TURF for totally exceeding my expectations two days in a row. After going once and having the incredible Pete's Sake sandwich (heads up: this sandwich is BIG. I never want half of anything but half of this sandwich still would have filled me up) I dragged my wife there the very next day and we split a half chicken, two sides, and an order of the bread pudding. I have to say, if TURF were just a roadside shack selling that bread pudding with their incredible bourbon sauce (more like a glaze) they would still sell out every day. It's just that good. Also, kudos to the man running the front counter who remembered me from the day before. It's the little things. Some advice to people planning a trip to TURF. First, keep in mind that the seating is very sparse -- you may be better off taking your food to-go (a fine option, they wrap everything up very well). I think they may be more popular than they expected, not a bad problem to have I guess. Second, in my extremely humble opinion, it is worth the $2 upgrade charge to go from the housemade chips to one of the other sides (obvious caveat: if you love chips, get the chips). I didn't mind the chips but they were the most ordinary part of an otherwise extraordinary dining experience.

    Looks delicious!

Super disappointed to leave a one star review but my experience with Graze Craze has been horrible…read more I received a gift card for my birthday and I went in person this week to place an order. When I walked in, I heard someone say from that back that they'd be with me in a little while. It wasn't long before a young man came out to speak with me. It was about 90 minutes before closing and he immediately told me I should not expect service right before closing. I apologized, said I thought they closed at 6pm, he said they did, then said he'd go to the back to see if they'd be willing to talk to me. Someone was in the back washing dishes, but never came to the front. The same employee came back out, sighed, and said he'd take my order. I told him I had never been in, I just heard about it from the gift card, and was curious what I could order and what was included with the menu items (inside, it's just a counter and a table off to the side with trays/boxes with names, but not prices or a list of what comes in them). He told me I should read the TV, which looked to be off at the time. He turned it back on while huffing and puffing, then said "LOOK!" at the menu, which was just names of the boxes with prices, not sizes or again what's included/what I can choose from. I remained calm, despite feeling uncomfortable, and again asked if I could see a list of what's included or what I can choose from, and if I can pick something up same day or order for a future pickup (I was honestly hoping for a grab & go cooler like other similar places but no problem, I can order something for another time). I still have no idea what items are available, as the employee was just getting more and more mad at me with each question, which he refused to answer. I told him I was feeling uncomfortable, which he just said, "okay!" so I said I didn't feel like I was wanted there as a customer, and I left. I've tried calling the store to rectify the situation and maybe speak with a different employee or member of management. Either the phone just rings and rings or the same employee I spoke with in-person answers. I really wanted to use my gift card but I'd rather throw it away than go through that experience again. I'm very discouraged at this point, but glad I can get great products and service at The Bountiful Board instead.

You can sit in the Market's indoor dining area that is located on the upper (and now lower) levels or at one of the tables in the outdoor courtyard. It was a nice day, so I decided to eat outside. The catfish and fries were decent. I cant give them the title of best that I have had, but it was good. It came with some hot sauce. If I have one suggestion, it would be to up their hot sauce game. I got two packets of a watery generic hot sauce. I would have like a more name brand sauce. It would have set the catfish off a bit more. I love supporting local and I will be back to check out some of their other savory dishes soon.
