And everyone, including us, appeared to be enjoying the band. The Flying Cupcake was on site as well as several other food vendors. The Boy Scouts were doing well selling sandwiches for their troop. This of course is a smaller festival than Penrod and others but with a nice variety of product for sale and less expensive here than same product at other festivals. The rain had put a damper on the festival but the rain let up after an hour or so. Several vendors threw in the towel but the real troopers hung in there since we and many other shoppers didn't let the rain stop us. The vendors who remained open were busy and sold items along with marketing their business. I came home with several things I was very tickled to pick up while disappointed that one of the vendors I originally came for had given up and closed her tent for the day. Regardless, we had a great time and enjoyed talking to Jim Spilman of Slinky and Maggie's Homemade Dog Treats. This was the second time we crossed paths and we have purchased each time. His gluten free, all natural dog treats are popular with both our dogs. My little one has a tendency to turn up his nose if cookies are crunchy or flavorless. Both dogs love his cookies. Check him out if you're in Greenwood at 4084 Rocking Chair Road or Phone 317-509-2781.

Similar to Dig IN, this festival highlights some of the best foods from around the world...that you can find in Indy (mostly in the Lafayette Square Neighborhood). Sides, salads, main dishes, desserts...you name it, they have it. One of my biggest concerns about going to these food festivals is the amount of vegan/vegetarian options available. Most of the time, it's not worth the money to go to them as I only get to try 1/4 of the food options due to the dishes having meat and seafood. Luckily, this festival had (what felt like) 75% of the vendors offering some sort of vegetarian dish. What's better than getting to sample the foods from around the world? Connecting with the businesses and their owners; watching the cultures come to life through dances, Italian noodle making, and other demonstrations; and vendors setting up shop to purchase other goodies on your way out. As I mentioned, I will definitely be back again as I was able to try so many different types of foods and explore different cultures in one room! One suggestion: turn down the A/C in that room for next year :)

Art in…read moreBloom, The Lume immersive experiences , Winterlights and of course Harvest Nights are some of the annual events I look forward to. Last night was the third time I attended Harvest Nights. This was the first time I arrived before it was dark so it was less spooky and a bit more wholesome in the daylight. We arrived at 7 and stayed until about 9 pm to experience everything lit up after dark. When you arrive, you're surrounded by stacks of pumpkins in every size, shape, color and type imaginable. Beautiful Fall arrangements are everywhere you look. The Fungi Forest was something new I haven't seen before. Very cool! I felt a bit like Alice in Wonderland encompassed by giant mushrooms towering above illuminated by strategically placed neon lights. One of the highlights of the event was the Cutwater Lounge--a 21+ space upstairs in the Lily House transformed into "Mischief Manor" only for Harvest Nights. The bartender told me this was the first year having this feature. We had a flight of the Cutwater alcoholic beverages that included a snack mix of tasty treats. The Mule and Espresso Martini were our favs with the margarita coming in 3rd. Cutwater's take on the Lemon Drop (which is a drink I typically enjoy) was strong yet tasted a bit watered down. The adult only experience wasn't very well marked (it's upstairs) and signage in general--starting at the parking lot entrance--needs improvement. I'm not sure we would have known about the adult area had it not been for the nice lady who sold us some yummy sweet potato fries with sage and bourbon maple dip. The Spider Stomp, Ghost Train and light show projected onto the Lily House all add to the overall experience. The seasonal food and drink options are great albeit a bit pricey. Passed on the $12 Bavarian pretzel but had to try Elysian Pumpkin Ale and wanted to try the cider but $14 was a little steep. It's not necessary to spend $20 for premium parking that they pressure you to purchase when you first pull into the lot. I recommend getting there early and wearing some of your best walking shoes. It's a cashless campus so good to keep that in mind. Love Newfields and can't wait for Winterlights in a couple months!

There were tons of decorated pumpkins throughout Newfields. There is a food/drink garden area in the middle with benches to take a break if you want. We ordered the Marsh & Mallow Spooky Campfire Cocoa (spiked hot cocoa) and we all liked it and was comforting on this chilly night. The Lily house had a long line but we enjoyed going in and seeing all the spooky details inside.

This was year 3 or 4 for me attending the wine festival held downtown Indianapolis at military park and it was one for the books. Nothing in particular made this year stand out more than others. There were about 7 or 8 food trucks - wide range of options: burgers, loaded fries, Jamaican food, hot dogs, a fair sweets. The wine tables were plentiful this year and I LOVED the culligan water tint with FREE waters after I just purchased an uncorkd water lol but it was only $1. The general entry was $75 and in my opinion always worth it with the miniature signature wine glass that comes with it. Good time, good vibes. Can't wait til next summer

If you are going, here's what you need to do: 1. Bring blankets and chairs! You will want to set-up a picnic spot for you and your fellow vinos. You will get tired from standing in lines. 2. Bring RATIONS! Bring food! The food lines were crazy long this past year (waited an hour for lunch at a food truck). Bring some water for yourself too. And sunscreen. It's usually toasty in June. 3. Bring a GOOD attitude! These lines are crazy-long. Like, Disney-world long. I would recommend getting in early if you can to do tastings, and then buying a few bottles to enjoy at your station. It is definitely doable to hit-up all the wineries, but you will probably lose your wine buzz between the lines and the heat, lol!

This was my first time here, and has been rather a dream to come check out. LUCKILY i have some extended family that lives not far from the track. I only purchased tickets for the finals day because i didn't want to make a job out of coming for a whole week. I ended up going with the Top Eliminator Club tickets, which have a stout price, but it comes with some actual nice perks! There is a separate building you can go chill at with tons of seating and tv's everywhere to keep an eye on the action. It is an all-day event, so being able to go relax somewhere a little less loud and sit with your food is pretty nice. Outside there are tents that had I think 10 different types of drinks available free for TEC and you get breakfast in the morning which was fruit and sugary treats and then for lunch you get (1) run thru the lunch line so load up! (the wrist band has a thing they cut off) The food was pretty dang good! i figured after being in those big steamer trays for awhile all the flavor would have evaporated. It was well worth the extra cost and my wife who does not follow racing at all enjoyed the whole experience. The whole body rumble from the nitro funny cars was intense to say the least so the TEC building is a pretty cool thing to retreat to. I can't wait to do this again!

We always enjoy seeing the Pro Stocks, Funny Cars, Mototcycles, Alcohol Dragsters and Top Fuel Dragsters on the well maintained track. In 2008, NHRA shorten the distance of the Funny Car and Top Fuel Dragster car races to 1,000 feet from the standard quarter-mile for safety reasons. Acres of parking including ADA parking along with camping is available. There really isn't a bad seat in the stands but I always recommend purchasing reserved seating in the grandstands. I prefer to sit in section BB and fairly high up. Yes, you'll smell like nitro but hopefully the wind is blowing the smoke away from your seat. Oh, and earplugs or ear protectors are highly recommended as the cars are LOUD! Rain delayed the 2022 festivities on Saturday when we were there but after the track was dry, around 2:00, it was back-to-back racing the remainder of the day. Shortly after announcements started a sky driver floated down carrying a briefcase with $80,000 prize money for the Pep Boys NHRA Top Fuel All-Star Callout Speciality Race with Steve Torrence winning the prize money. The other exciting run on Saturday was Justin Ashley in a Top Fuel Dragster who broke the track record with 335.032 but Brittany Force broke Ashley's new record on Sunday with 337.75.

Super efficient! + Huge Greek salads and Greek fries = favorite savory foods + Dessert room in the church = favorite thrill of the event (yummmm) + Baklava cheesecake = favorite dessert we tried + Fun dancing = performances and they involve everyone later in the night + Seating = many shaded tents with chairs and tables + Kids area = puppet shows, coloring, and beading crafts + Church = beautiful building and they let you peek in too + Photo opps = fun and creative + Marketing = Lenie does the best job and is so on top of things! + Social media = so much great info posted clearly on their IG Things to note: + Dessert line = it's long but it moves quicker than you'd expect. I saw that they have a dessert pre-order option and a pick-up area that makes it much quicker but it was fun to see everything in person to choose! No regrets. + Dessert menus in line = there was a dessert menu listed outside of the church but as we were waiting in the line, it would've been helpful to have some menus posted along the line so people could think up their order while waiting. (Or we should've taken a photo of the outdoor sign!) + Entrance from parking lot = mostly everyone parks in the big field next to the church but then you walk up a little hill, between trees, through the parking lot, and past the emergency vehicles. It felt like maybe that wasn't the right entrance, so some signage or some type of entrance would be fun there. It's such a wonderful event and we'll definitely be back! Great work!
