The people at the counter seem to be friendly and listening to them as they conduct a business. It appeared that they had a good knowledge of the business that they were doing. So a few weeks later, I needed to get one of my Volkswagen key fobs programmed and I took a ride over to them again. The remote worked fine when I was at the shop but it didn't work once I got at home and they attempted to use it just as a back up key because it wouldn't open the doors and lock the doors . I went back, and I saw the person the program the key and I explained to him it wasn't working properly, and he immediately asked me how long ago I had the key fob programmed. Being as I had a bright blue Volkswagen Jetta, that is an overly a common vehicle I expected him to remember me as it was only three weeks ago and the representative took his programming unit. And went out to my car and again attempted to program the key fob. It worked fine while we were at the key shop but once again, the key fob does not work and is only good for unlocking unlocking the door. Because I paid over $120.00 to have the key fob programmed, I'm very disappointed and apprehensive about going back to the key shop because I was asked how long ago I had to key fob programed.

Most places I inquired had prices that seemed a bit high, or did not have blanks to reproduce the fob. I know electronic key fobs can be expensive, but some places quoted me $275-$350. Then I remembered The Main Lock Shop in Hackensack, that I frequented when I worked in an automotive shop nearby, many many years ago. I was greeted pleasantly by the 2 gentleman behind the counter, told them that I needed a replacement key fob. He asked me for the one that didn't work and promptly when to another room and found a match. Within another 10 minutes he cut the key, programmed it, & came outside to my car to make sure all the features worked. Outstanding Customer Service!!! Best of all, I only paid $178 dollars, a fantastic deal in my mind. I will surely be back for all my car and house key needs in the future.

I needed a locksmith to rekey our front door lock. I called Able Security on Friday afternoon and…read moreEric picked up right away. We scheduled an appointment for Monday at 10am. He and an assistant called ahead to ask if it was okay to arrive early. In the course of rekeying the deadbolt, they advised that replacing the unit was better because the previous one was so old. The door handle was a "camelot" style in brass, and as it isn't the preferred style these days, they didn't have a matching deadbolt. They kindly drove back to their shop to retrieve a brass deadbolt that they had. They came back, installed it, and cut the extra copies of the keys that I wanted. As a courtesy, they also tightened the door handle which I was frankly worried about, since it was wobbly and didn't feel secure, but I didn't have the skills to figure out how to tighten it myself. They didn't have to, but they disassembled the handle to tighten it, and upon doing so, found that it, too, was so old that not only were the screws spinning and not catching the material, but the metal parts inside the lock that should latch together were worn down and wouldn't go back together. So the door handle could turn to open the door, but if you put any pressure on it at all, it slid right off and you were holding a doorknob in your hand. That put a time crunch on their schedule, but they didn't leave with the job half done. They suggested I get a new handle and they put a temporary doorknob on. Once I picked up a new handle, I called back, and Eric fit me in the next morning. That morning, I was running an errand and Eric called right on time to say that he was at the house. I was running late, and he waited patiently for 5-10 minutes until I arrived home. He and his assistant got the handle on in a half hour, and didn't even charge since the reason the door handle wouldn't go back on in the first place was because they were being thorough and tightening the handle which wasn't in the original statement of work, but an extra favor. I really appreciated the professionalism, integrity, punctuality, and advance notice of their arrival. Highly recommend!
