It's a family owned and run business that brings sunshine and happiness to all locals. And by sunshine and happiness I mean an awesome range of starters, tapas, and desserts. There's literally anything to satisfy any palate from crispy chicken, fish, salads, haloumi, pork, beef, and the most fantastic chips with aioli sauce that I just can't resist whenever I go there. Vegetarians and gluten intolerants don't despair, Litse has menu options for you too, with an impressive amount of options being gluten free and healthy. You can also choose a cheese platter from 10am onwards which makes someone like me squeal in delight. Litse also has a range of wines for those enthusiasts, but also a kids menu for the little ones. There is something for everyone and it all has a touch of easy sophistication. You'll pay more for mains here - in excess of $20 and sometimes up to $30 - but for an indulgent meal, it's well worth it. Litse also has an all day breakfast menu with traditional bacon and eggs, omelette, and free range eggs on sourdough, just to name a few options. Sample a dessert and let them recommend a wine to complement it. At Litse, I'm almost certain you'll have the best possible experience. I love it here and I always have.

I was expecting that the place he mentioned, the Liste Lounge was going to be some type of tip rat burger place. Man, never in my mind have I ever been willing to be more wrongly surprised. The place had a Mediterranean lean to it, with its earthy painted tones. The staff who welcomed us appeared to be happy to be there. I was more than ready to eat. I mean if these people were convinced they were working on a Saturday, I was ready to be served. I ordered a flat white, an orange juice and traditional bacon and eggs with a side of mushrooms. Price wise, it was a little expensive but what they brought out was worth it. The bacon was crisp and not oily, eggs cooked to my request perfectly and the mushrooms hinted with garlic and seasoning a winner. The Coffee was made exactly how I wanted it and was a great drink to accompany my meal. I left Liste with a little less money than what I'd hoped to spend but the service and experience proved to be my reward.

I've been hearing good things about this bakery for years, however due to a combination of me being on a bride diet and my reluctance to add further fuel to my bread addiction fire I kept putting off visiting. No longer! I am happily married and as I now live in Alderley instead of New Farm I thought this could be a good substitute for Choquette. Walking in I was greeted with glass cases full of tasty looking treats including some VERY impressive looking quiches (at $20 per large quiche I think I just found my 'too lazy to cook' solution). I bought a slice of carrot cake (tasty, but cream cheese icing was too sweet and lacking in cream cheese tang) however I was there for the bread. Even though it was 10am they only had white sourdough in a Vienna (I'm not sure if they'd sold out or bake through the day) so I bought that and trotted off home for some private time - just me, the loaf and a pat of butter. I've got to say, I don't know if sourdough is the best option for a Vienna. The denseness of the sourdough crumb was lost in the Vienna and the large airholes made it hard to get a decent slice. The flavour was good, but I think it would be better in a dense loaf. Undeterred, I went back and got a proper sourdough loaf that was just lovely, and their light rye sourdough is AWESOME. I haven't tried the pies yet, but I was really happy to also see some arancini in the pie warmer. There is a large gelataria and pizzeria attached to the bakery that I'm going to go back and try, and you can buy their home made pannetone's and gingerbread houses for Christmas treats.

We had only planned on getting drinks and the first question of 'Can you make cold coffees?' Was responded with smooth 'yes, we sure can.' We couldn't get past the pastries, so we dove into the Gluten Free Cheese Cake and the Gluten Free Mud Cake. All I can say was WOW! Now. Back to the coffees- the iced latte was smooth, the iced long black was rich and the hot long black was strong and smooth. We had the option of sitting inside in AC or outside under cover along the footpath. We opted for inside and that's when we noticed the HUGE case of gelato! That was a great surprise even though we had seen the sign. We enjoyed seeing multiple groups come in for drinks and food. We have made plans to return for drinks and gelato!

It's entirely possible we came here 5 weekends in a row! So it's fair to say this is definitely going on the list of favourite brunch places. Consistently: the food is delicious, the coffee is good (they do BOWLS!), the staff are lovely and efficient, the place is big enough that you can usually easily get a table, and there is plenty of street parking around. And it's less than a 10 minute drive from our house. Bonus. They have a range of breakfast & lunch items on the weekend - sweet, savoury, and hearty smoothies or juices - and they are open til 2pm on Saturdays and Sundays, which I like because it means you can come in for a proper lunch instead of just a very late breakfast (sometimes it's just difficult to get out of the house before midday on a Sunday, you know?). They will also try to accommodate any specific dietary requirements, some are marked on the menu but if you can't see it then just ask and they'll work something out if they can. I came here with my mother on one occasion and she was happy, despite her ever-expanding range of food intolerances, so that's quite an achievement. Word of warning though - the Famish'd breakfast (basically the equivalent of a 'big breakfast' anywhere) is GIGANTIC. Order it only if you're prepared to be in a food coma for the rest of the afternoon.

The Gap is a fickle place for new ventures, and a subterranean foodie class exists that hardly recognises great food when it's tasted. We had seen a few reviews of Sushi Maho and with another sushi-train style restaurant opening in the suburb, and trying that, we decided to give Sushi Maho a Maho-go. Firstly, the menu is extensive and moderately priced, with everything made fresh-to-order. However, that doesn't mean that everything's made as it should be, as our Dragon Roll ($16) had the flame torch passed over it too closely and too long, resulting in some charring and a distinct burnt taste to the prawns that wasn't very appetising at all. We've had better at other Japanese restaurants where the flame flower wasn't used so heavily, or hardly noticed it. We then ordered the Chicken Karage Udon ($12) and Spicy Seafood Nagasaki Ramen ($15). Both of these had their pluses and minuses, the broth tasty and well-seasoned, but the ingredients were a let-down. The noodles in the ramen seemed like they came from a dried packet, which is okay but drop the price, and the seafood like a marinara mix from your local fish monger, but without a hint of Asian authenticity or seasoning. Likewise, the chicken karage was tepid in taste and texture, and is something I make at home and being a Westerner have accumulated a cult following for among the family when I make it. However, suburban dining is often an oxymoron and despite our somewhat lacklustre experience here we will return. But not for any of the noodle soups, but to explore and order more of their sushi rolls which is where, in our view, they have an edge over the others in The Gap with Sushi Dream running a close second. Bon appetit!
