We had a casual work dinner at the Oxley Hotel or 'The Ox' this week. It's been a couple of years since I last had dinner here and while it has a number of things in it's favour, 1) It's clean, neat and tidy and 2) It's pretty family friendly (Kids 'play' room, plenty of parking) I've definitely had better food, I've had worse but I've had better.
The staff are attentive enough and when we had dinner they worked well considering that there were a number of other 'larger' groups eating and ordering at the same time. There are a lot of options on the menu, however, as pointed out by a previous review considering the options there are only 2 vegetarian options and no Gluten Free options.
After heading up to the counter to order your meal and waiting for it to be served (not too long a wait) we all tucked into what appeared to be a delicious meal. I ordered the chicken parma. While the plate had a tasty salad and chips and the chicken schnitzel was cooked fine it was bland. I don't usually add salt and pepper but this really needed it. The ham used was shredded generic pizza ham and the tomato sauce came from a bottle and was also probably pizza sauce.
Fine for a pub meal but had Much Much better from other pubs. read more
