This bar is all about the 80's which I love. It has a unique layout when you walk in. You can order food right when you walk in then you'll walk through a garden/patio type area that has two swings (exciting!) then you'll get to the bar once inside you'll see it takes you back to what the 80's would've been like. The drinks are cheap and we were served right away. There is a pool table, couches and booth seating inside. Overall it's a laid back vibe. I'll definitely be back. read more

We went to this bar on a Friday night, it was busy but not packed which is good. They have a pool table, tables and a front more open part where you can sit. The barback kept picking up up our half empty drinks trying to scam us. She then proceeded to knock over our drinks over and acting like she was "cleaning up". We said something to her and she got an attitude and started cursing at us. They kicked my friend out and I was left to pay so I paid for the drinks. And come to find out the next day not only did they charge my card, but they charged my card for same amount. This place is complete scum. Do not go here unless you wanna be scammed. read more

Love this place. I come here for Sunday Funday's way more often than I should but it is cheap and has a laid back atmosphere. They have happy hour until 9PM everyday which is unbeatable (The Paloma is my go to). If it is before 6PM pain killers are $4. Ok yes, it comes from a daiquiri machine but PLEASE do not let that fool you. It is probably one of the strongest drinks in the place. My friend and I come on the reg and get floaters on top of them and by the time we leave, we are always giggling and wobbly (IDK we think floater are a good idea...) If you're not a "cocktail" person just for with a lions head and shot special and you're good. The place has gotten even better because Duncan's Burgers has now taken over the front window and they are absolutely delicious. (Hints: Burger prices are a little cheaper than Duncan's real delivery menu! Cheap, never really crowded, and fun. I like that there is the front, more open area with food and and outdoor vibe, and the back is darker and more of a typical bar feeling. However, the service sucks. The few times I've been there the bartenders are just rude and don't seem to care. There's a difference between being laid back, and being bad at your job. I typically love this bar and also the location in lower East side... But as a service industry professional, I have to make this review about the bartender from October 1 2019 in the evening... He was too busy flirting with girls the whole time, was extremely rude, and also threaten to hit my Mets hat off of my head because he's from the Bronx... I literally, and I timed it, waited 22 minutes for two Moscow Mule's because he could not stop flirting with this trio of girls at the bar. I had to ask him for my drink about five times, to which he idiotically tried to laugh it off as a mistake... Completely unprofessional, completely rude, and an overall asshole.... If you enjoy genuine hospitality, fast service, rapport with a bartender you've met more than twenty times, a quiet place to catch up with friends that doesn't reek of fabuloso, or staff who want your money; you better stay the fuck away before they tell you to go the fuck away. Nothing says New York fuckin city like a bunch of Orlando transplants sporting carhartt apparel, outdated hipster brand fashion and frowns while pissing and moaning about their jobs. So you're probably wondering why the fuck do you continue to come to an establishment that is clearly possessed by the evil spirits of Disney jail? Well for starters it's cute as fuck. Came here for drinks on New Year's Eve with the bf and friends. It has a nice chill, 70s retro vibe to it, with wood paneling on the woods and random woven wall hangings. I don't think they have any beers on tap, but Lion's Head beers are $2 each. I got a negroni, which was pretty well made. At midnight, the staff gave out champagne and decorations to everybody, which was nice on their part. Overall, it was a nice, comfortable bar to hang out at, and there is a food stand by the entrance. Would definitely come back here to hang out again. read more

This place has good drink specials until 9 p.m. the service was not that great though. I recommend going to another one of the many bar options around the block. I had lost my out of state ID and had been issued a temporary one until my new one could be mailed out to me. I guess they got in trouble recently for not IDing or letting minors drink and they wouldn't accept my valid form of identification. This section of Bushwick is making a turn for the better, and the Meet The Johnson's crew is ahead of the curve taking advantage of the gentrification currently happening near the Jefferson L stop. With warehouses being converted into lofts, bars, and restaurants... it's primed to be the next Williamsburg and they've got some skin in the game early. If you've ever been to the Lower East Side Johnson's, you know the scene. It's a dive bar through and through. But this Johnson's is like the clean cut, well groomed version of the previous incarnation. It's sophisticated, grown up, and beautiful in its minimalism and simplicity. Much, much larger than the space in LES, and the outside patio area near the entrance is an awesome way to spend a warm summer night in Brooklyn. If you haven't explored this section of the 'hood, make sure you get on it. There's so much space to stretch out, you'll be convinced you're nowhere near NYC at all. read more

First, let me say that the atmosphere is great and the drinks are tasty and cheap. This place has that going for it. However, the staff is absolutely awful. AWFUL. The short, beanie-clad bartender just doesn't care. Does he own the place? Because I cannot possibly fathom any other reason why he is still employed. My group of 4 got there around 8:00 on a Saturday and the bar was a little busy but not crazy. Once beanie bartender finally acknowledged that we were standing right in front of him, we were able to order our drinks. 10 minutes later we get only 2 of those drinks. Another 10 minutes to get his attention and ask about the other 2 drinks. Another 10 minutes to get those drinks. Another 10 minutes to settle the tab. The staff here is incredibly unprofessional and rude. It's a shame. I would love to come here if they got rid of the hipster snobbery. read more

The bar looks totally amazing, and one of my workmates showed me the place after work. The bouncer was cool as beans- but the bartender had a disgusting attitude and she cake'd it up with snide remarks. I've been to a few bars in my time and fully understand bars enough to notice that we were not welcomed in her eyes. Though we were having troubles finding my workmates ID, we found it right after we left the door. Not to mention- bars don't have a $20 minimum tab. I've been to high end bars multiple times and even then there's no minimums on a tab. I found this situation to be overall appalling. I do recommend that the management speak to this woman and discuss an attitude adjustment. I was there late on a Saturday night, the bartenders told me I had already closed my card when I could confirm on my phone that no transaction had happened. The Johnson's is fine as a beer and a shot bar, but DEFINITELY don't order anything off of their overpriced and badly made cocktail menu. Ordering margaritas for my group of four last night, I watched as the barback wildly free-poured our drinks, giving one drink literally twice as much tequila as the others, almost no liquor in another, etc. That's not terrible, I understand when it's the barback messing a drink up (though it didn't help that the bartender stood nearby watching all this happen). Next order of drinks, something with thyme in it. This time whoever made them left out simple syrup entirely (how do you forget 1/4 of a drinks ingredients?). The bartender quickly remade the drinks... and forgot the thyme on all four drinks this time. Why bother having a cocktail menu if you don't care about your cocktails? That's three orders of four drinks in a row that all should have been thrown away! (Though we kept the last order, because the whole thing was getting silly at that point). Shitty drinks are fine if you're charging $5 or $6 for your cocktails, but insulting when you're charging $8 to $10 for them. I came here last night with my boyfriend and some friends for the first time in over a year. It was busy without being too crazy. I hate (read: HAAAATE) insanely packed, loud bars and don't typically go out on weekends for that reason, but the crowd here was manageable. The setup in the front is really cute. Great bar food, especially the burger which they didn't seem to judge me TOO hard for ordering sans bun with extra cheese (perks of the keto diet). Drinks were crazy cheap - my tequila sodas were only $5 and they've got a great beer/shot special for $6! After a long day of thrifting and running around Bushwick, my dear took me here and promised me the "cutest bar you've ever seen". She was pretty spot on! The bar has a total kitsch atmosphere -- lots of 60s/70s decor and furniture. There's an area in the front that's kind of semi outside, as it has a completely open wall to the front. We all ordered some sort of coconut/banana-ish daiquri. It was super yummy and refreshing, and a great way to wind down and relax after a day of shopping. We sat on an adorable vintage couch (covered in plastic, mind you) and talked and laughed. It was adorable. This was the perfect place to bring someone visiting from San Francisco (me)! read more

My favorite thing about this place is the decor. It's awesome! Outside of the main bar area there is a section with benches, grass, and 2 wicker swings. It's nice to grab a drink from the bar and chill in the swing. The main part is just as nice and gives off a home like feel. They often play a film in a small area with couches. Last time I checked it was Holy Mountain- solid film. There's also a pool table. I'd recommend trying their popular drink "Pain Killer" which is basically a pina colada. Treated with no respect on a Monday at 8:53pm. Ginger bearded bartender is a racist. I came in with two Indian friends and he checked their Georgia Id's under two types of light, and refused to give us two drinks per person even when we just asked a shot and beer. I told him I wanted to put two drinks on a credit card and the other drink with cash. He then yelled at me, so I told him "why are you being so conformational, I just want to pay." He flipped out and said "you want to fight?" I'm a 5' 3" woman, and he is a "professional bartender". I ended up paying for all on one card just so that he would stop yelling at me. I don't know why everyone is so mad about the service here. I've been three times and always had great service. I was here tonight, Thursday at about 8:45pm. I took advantage of the last few minutes of the cocktail happy hour. I was informed right away about the credit card minimum of $20. Obviously it isn't ideal but I appreciate that the bartender told me right away. When I went to order an additional cocktail it was after 9 and the other bartender told me the price was $8 now that happy hour was over. Again, I appreciated being told about the price. Unreal behavior by the bouncer Alan on Saturday night. I'm of East Asian descent and so is the friend I came here with around midnight. As soon as the bouncer cards us he looks at us, starts giggling to his friend (possibly another employee?) saying "I have a joke but i'm gonna hold it." Since we are not morons we obviously knew it was about us and said "What's the joke? We want to hear it." And he says "Ok fine... you guys look like the Asian people who get to Manhattan on a bus and they're just like so happy to be here they get out of the bus and take those CHEEESE pictures." *he smiles crinkling his eyes and holding up the peace sign* Neither I nor my friend had been holding up a cheese sign or crinkling our eyes anywhere in the vicinity at any recent point. So my friend and I were both like, uh... wtf? That's rude and racist. The bouncer, as soon as he saw this reaction, began raising his voice. He said "It was a JOKE. You guys FORCED me to say the joke. So therefore it's not racist. Dave Chapelle can say this kind of joke. Why can't I? It's a joke. I already told you it was going to be a joke. If you couldn't handle a joke you shouldn't have asked." The reason I asked is because it was clearly a comment about me and my friend, and I wanted to know. It makes literally no logical sense for him to assume that because I'd asked him to voice a thought, I would unconditionally tolerate that thought regardless of how disrespectful or racist it would be. I tried to have a reasonable conversation with him and asked for his name. I wanted to introduce myself too. And at the end of the day it was in fact a sad and dumb joke. I was hoping we could discuss it and get over it because I didn't want my night to be ruined either. But he was getting more and more defensive and started yelling over me, saying, "My name is Alan [last name redacted so as to not ruin his life]. Go ahead and write a bad Yelp review about me." The friend he originally intended as the audience of this joke also backed him up, saying we couldn't take a joke and that we should chill. As this was happening more customers began lining up. The bouncer began loudly saying to everyone who came by - "It was a JOKE. I made one joke. It's not racist. Why is this racist?" Eventually a group of 15 or so people had gathered and were standing around listening to the bouncer yell, and a few people decided to intervene by asking me why I couldn't take a joke, why I couldn't consider the fact that maybe it was a Saturday night and there were a lot of people and the bouncer was tired, and also, they were Italian and they always received jokes about being in the mafia and it wasn't a big deal for them. The bouncer of course sided with this and said comments like - "Yes, thank you, it's a JOKE. I'm a 6-foot black guy, I can take a joke when people call me the n-word. Learn to take a joke." After a few minutes of this my friend and I decided to leave. At this point I wasn't even as offended by the joke as I was by the bouncer's subsequent behavior and attempts to get a crowd to rally against us. 1. It sucks that people discriminate against minorities. But that doesn't justify additional racist comments even if they're made by another person of a minority background. The bouncer saying that to me - does that make things better for anyone anywhere? 2. At the end of the day it was one shitty, overdone, witless joke. But the bouncer was so deeply annoyed that we didn't just immediately laugh along that he had to start yelling and getting everyone around him on his side. You're expecting me to take a joke - why can't you take it when someone doesn't laugh? Why do you have to get everyone around you involved to affirm that your joke was valid and that it was funny? Why can't YOU let it go? 3. I'm trying to patronize YOUR business. Like literally just from a monetary standpoint why are you trying so hard to chase customers out over a "joke"? This is probably the first time I have been yelled at at a bar/restaurant by an employee. 4. Lol @ the Italian guys outside who told me they get made fun of for being in the mafia all the time... must be hard out there. Bouncer, props to you for understanding their struggle and thanking them for relating to your situation. Also, last time I checked, being tired on the job (in a situation I voluntarily signed up for & am being paid for, btw) didn't suddenly turn me racist.
