Tala Wine - Friday Night Dinner Basque cheesecake with sherry vin strawberries & black pepper

Tala Wine

A true neighborhood gem…read more I just moved to the area, and I couldn't be happier to have such an amazing wine bar right down the street. Tala and her team are warm, fun, and impressively knowledgeable about wine, and they make everyone feel welcome whether you're a seasoned enthusiast or just curious. The atmosphere is relaxed and inviting, and the space itself is beautifully designed. It's perfect for a leisurely afternoon wine flight or a cozy date night. I'll be a regular for a long time to come!

Wait what? I haven't reviewed Tala Wine yet?…read more This is by far one of my favorite places. I feel fully comfortable walking in by myself and having a seat. The owner, Tala, and her assistant Adela, are always very welcoming and make you feel like you're going to a friend's house to have a nice glass of wine. Her selection is amazing and I love her wide selection of European wines. I've been coming here for a few years now and I've never had a bad glass or a bottle of wine. She has such a wide variety. Her pop-ups are always great and she has wines to pair with the food, if you would like. There is always something going on there whether celebrating the birthday month with a DJ, live classical quartets, BINGO, Sunday Suppers, and so much more. Her high teas are AMAZING- highly recommend that when they come up. I closed the place out for my special 70th birthday party this year and everything always perfect- everyone had a fantastic time. The price was reasonable and she was so fun and accommodating. We had a blast! Go there TONIGHT!

I love the wood tables and the steps that lead you to a private room upstairs. The space is amazing and attendees loved it. They have a photo booth too. Staff are wonderful! Thank you, Naz and Ife! Amazing bartenders. They were so friendly, attentive, and personable. Many attendees said they came to the event particularly because they love Arcana. It's conveniently located near BART and multiple bus lines and some Lyft bike docks. I cannot recommend Arcana enough! It's great for date night, girls' night, corporate meetups, and more. Charging the $10 event fee on discretion before the posted event start time seems... shady? illegal? My two friends got in a few minutes before with no cover. I was dealing with a bike lock while they went in. We were not there for the event but rather as volunteers from the weekly cleanup refuse crew in the Mission. You get perks as a thank-you for doing your part in making the City a cleaner place. We had just had a lovely time at another participating business (Beehive) and planned on Arcana being our final stop. Thankfully I was able to use the restroom without a fee, with my gear held up outside by the security team. While waiting in the restroom line, I told a staff member about all this, and the worker seemingly went up to the front to find out what's going on. The line took a few minutes, my friends also bumped into me, and I told them I'd likely wait for them outside the business post-restroom while they finished their wine. Already reported to the Mayor's Office. Maybe I'll add BBB. Should be honest and equitable! Four out of 200+ reviews by me have been one star, so I rarely share negativity. It's all rather unfortunate as other visits here went off without an issue. I warned a group of four about all this while I waited out front, and after talking to the front door folks, they left and thanked me for the advice. Please be careful if you visit here. . . .

Looks FANCY!!! As soon as my husband and I found our way to a seat attention was immediately paid with pouring of water for us in these cute little glasses. Immediately after a glass of the wine that was already open on the table. My son and his finance were sitting across from us so the four of us shared a few things. The portions aren't that big but surprisingly was enough. Along with the several bottles of wine we shared. The service was exceptional. They took the time to explain where the different cheeses came from on the cheese platter my soon to be daughter in law ordered. It was pretty cool to taste cheese from across the world! They explained the different sauces and how they were made. Enjoyed it!!! We had the steak dish, yumm...the empanadas, could have ordered a couple more orders of four. The sauce on the plate had a little bite to it! Loved it!!! The passion fruit ceviche (I don't recall what they called it on the menu) was delish. The taro chips went great with it and the way they sat in the bowl I thought it was decoration at first. I used the juice as a dip for the yuka fries as well. Just about everything that touched my plate I scooted through that ceviche juice. lol and the empanada sauce!! We sang happy birthday and they cut and served the cake for us. We also had espresso in these super cute espresso cups and saucers!! She was so excited to get to use the machine! Her excitement was contagious!! We were excited to receive and drink it!! Well with the excitement!!! Oh did I mention how cute the place is. Definitely could bring a date here. There were a couple of people on dates, while we're were there. I will definitely be back and HIGHLY ENCOURAGE you to go check it out for yourself! Oh yea, we shared the octopus it was great!! It wasn't too chewy and the sauce that THAT was in... mmm mmm good!!' Ok, I hope you enjoy your good ad much as were enjoyed ours!!!

Atmosphere is dim, perfect for a date or hanging with friends. Good music. Entire front of house is run by husband wife owners Joel and Natalia. They are both so friendly and accomodating, making the experience warm. Joel is the former wine director at La Mar and is very experienced. We ordered a wine flight and let Joel choose our three pours, all of which were fantastic. Favorite was a Domaine des Aubuisieres "Cuvee de Silex" Vouvray. - cheese board - seasonal cheeses and jams with sourdough that complimented the wine nicely - cebiche - market fish, maine scallops, octopus, leche de tigre - fresh fish with a bit of a kick

This wine bar is hidden from plain view and tucked away in the Excelsior/Outer Mission. Some friends and I discovered this little gem while looking for a place to have a nightcap. Sippin' Wine Bar is located on the second floor of the Bottoms Up Bar, but the vibe is totally different. Not sure if the two bars are actually affiliated, but they are like night and day. The stairs leading up to the bar are lit up and the interior of the bar is just absolutely gorgeous! It's spacious and low lit with an extremely sexy ambience. The decor is just out of this world! They have the cutest tables and sofas. The lamps and artwork are very unique but visually appealing, and the tables are set with candles that create a very sensual vibe. There's a small but adorable little patio where you can relax and get some air. The interior designer deserves a pat on the back AND a few glasses of wine (wink wink). Speaking of wine, they have tons and tons of it! Their selection is extensive and they make it really obvious with all of their lovely wine bottles that are on display. I really enjoyed their Angeline Pinot Noir as well as the Kungfu Girl Riesling. They serve food here as well. We had just come from dinner, but a few of us who shall remain nameless (cough cough) were still hangry and ordered garlic noodles, garlic fries, and tater tots. Yep, somebody's breath was stankin' but it wasn't mine! Although I didn't try any of the food, It smelled wonderful. There was no food left behind, so I'm assuming that it was delicious! The owner Shirley was fantastic! She happily hosted our group and let us sample several different wines from her collection. She mingled with us as well and talked about the business. The bar is still relatively new and opened a little over 2 years ago, so she is still trying to generate more business. I'm hoping that more people will frequent this place because I really enjoyed it and would love to see it stick around. So glad we stumbled upon this spot, and I'm looking forward to many more future visits.

Wait was too long. Most recently we watched the bar tender serve a group of tourists multiple rounds of vino. The owners and bartenders ignored us completely after patiently waiting for them to finish pouring drinks. Felt like this was a prejudiced staff against locals. Brought my friend here he said, "Do not come here ever again" after this experience. Staff seems tired and burnt out. This is what gentrification looks like. Boycott if you have any inkling of what this neighborhood is really about. Salud.
