The area around this location is poorly maintained (a Hooters across the road is empty and overgrown, and the restaurant next door looks like the roof is about to cave it) but inside Fried Green Tomatoes is a very friendly, customer-focused staff serving some of the best Southern food I've had in a looooooong time! Their chicken is perfect and the tomatoes! I will each three servings of the FGT's next time, no doubt! Do not miss this place. . .they deserve all the business they can get! (Also, just FYI: "two meats" on the menu means FOUR pieces of delicious chicken and you can choose light or dark or a combination of both. . .) UPDATE: I stopped here again two days later for supper and the food was exactly the same quality, but the customer service was even better! Don't miss FGT!

I went for lunch but didn't get the opportunity to eat it til supper since my sis text once I ordered my plate and wanted to do lunch together. I ordered the turkey wings, dressing, and potato salad. I know a lot of starch but I really wanted to try the potato salad as another reviewer posted it and it looked really good. Well this one wasn't. It was white and not yellow as I had hoped for. I love the mustardy taste in potato salad. It was not seasoned and so bland as was the dressing and turkey wings. The fried green tomatoes were chewy. And I tasted those time I got in the car as I always do. Huge difference!!! I was really shocked. There has got to be a new cook or at least for 1/8/26. This was not the typical seasoning or taste I was used to. I ate my turkey wings so my stomach wouldn't be touching my back and trashed the rest. Maybe I'll have better luck when I return. I'll be switching things up tho when I order.

The decor inside was modern yet still cozy, perfect blend of home vibe with some modern touches. The outside still has that small time feel. Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious! I had the steak biscuit and I'm telling you this (definitely homemade) biscuit (so much yum) was the size of my plate as was the chicken fried steak! I ordered a side of sausage gravy to dip it in which I definitely recommend. The gravy was so delicious! My dining companion got the biscuits and gravy (tasting their gravy is what made me want my own side of it). We also ordered an appetizer of the cheese balls with marinara which was a hit as well. We also ordered some meals to go since we were dropping off food. I didn't get to try those but I did get a bite of the fried green tomatoes appetizer. These are the best I've had in so long, if ever! They know what they are doing and they do it right! This is the place for good southern cookin'

We had to search for this place as it's in an industrial neighborhood off the beaten path but it…read morewas worth the effort. It's nothing fancy, the cafe is in what looks like a redone modular home. You order your meat and two sides at the counter and get your own drinks. The iced tea was good. There are two long tables in the center so you eat family style but on the Sunday afternoon we went we were the only ones at one of the tables. They were doing a brisk takeout business. The lady who waited on us was very nice. My DD got the grilled pork chop, black eyed peas and macaroni and cheese with a hoe cake. I had pulled turkey with dressing and turkey gravy, sweet potato casserole and collards with a roll (I should have picked the hoe cake). Everything was fabulous with special accolades to the black eyed peas, the mac & cheese and the collards. There were lots of choices too with everything from fried shrimp to chitterlings and ox tails. If you find yourself in Eatonton and you like a meat and two sides search out Ms. Stellas, you won't be sorry.

There were plenty other options in both the special and cooked-to -order menu, I just don't remember them all. There were about 8-10 yummy sides to choose from. I had meat-loaf with brown gravy (could have been ketchup), collard greens, mashed potatoes with brown gravy and cornbread. I enjoyed it all. My companion had a fried pork-chop and it looked delicious. He seemed very pleased. It's a small old building that's kinda out of the way. It doesn't look like much from the road. If you happened to be driving on its back road you could easily miss it if you weren't looking for it. Found with Apple Maps. It was counter service. Small dining room. It was clean as far as I could tell. Single bathroom was old but well maintained. They had several takeout orders while I was there at late lunch time. The dining room was pretty full with three groups including mine. My only criticism was the fountain drinks were very limited. There were no diet sodas. There was unsweet tea available though.

It is very upscale! Our server was nice but not intrusive. We received refills on time and requests were honored very promptly. My daughter ordered a mixed drink and it was good, she also ordered the Chicken Avery and she really enjoyed it along with the garlic green beans. The not so good (in my opinion): I ordered shrimp and my husband ordered the ribeye with accompanying mac n cheese and baked potato. The Mac N Cheese was so soupy you needed a spoon to eat it. Soupy in a watery way not a cheesy way. Baked potatoes were just alright. The skin was great with salt & oil. The inside was either overcooked or not fresh. Several of us ordered the potato and we all felt the same. The $50 ribeye was bland and chewy. My shrimp were comparable to Captain D's . I hate to say that but when I tasted of them that's all I could think of. I think it had more to do with the breading than the actual taste of the shrimp themselves. It was my daughter's birthday and she ordered the crème brûlée. She enjoyed it. The top was nice and crunchy but not warm. The entire thing was cold which was odd. All of the food we received wasn't hot it was warm at best. This is probably a one and done for me just bc the price doesn't reflect the quality of the food. We don't mind paying for something really great but when you feel let down after eating it's tough to go back.

The home made soup was fantastic. Service was excellent. The second time the food was not so good. And last night it was a horrible experience ! However, great service and atmosphere but the so called fresh cooked Burger and fries with sautéed mushrooms. By the way, I specifically asked the waitress if it was freshly cooked to order because so many places keep pre-cooked Burgers in a warmer and quickly warm them up. A process easily identified by the dryness and inside temp of the meat. The small Salad was ok. The 2 lukewarm Biscuits were a little dry and undercooked. The sautéed Mushrooms were like shoe leather, dry and overcooked. The Fries were cold as was the dried up poor excuse of a Burger. Too bad there is no pride in the Kitchen! Hard to beat 5 Guy's for a good Burger. Having traveled just about everywhere in the USA. My review should be taken seriously. This place needs a Kitchen Manager that cares about all the food they put out. Not just the semi fancy gourmet that they try to produce there. If they got their Kitchen in order it could be a great destination restaurant !
