I ain't even trying to lower y'all score because I know I have had better here. I skipped a few weeks coming as they are not conveniently located plus I was trying to give it a break since the food at the holidays was pretty much the same. I went for lunch but didn't get the opportunity to eat it til supper since my sis text once I ordered my plate and wanted to do lunch together. I ordered the turkey wings, dressing, and potato salad. I know a lot of starch but I really wanted to try the potato salad as another reviewer posted it and it looked really good. Well this one wasn't. It was white and not yellow as I had hoped for. I love the mustardy taste in potato salad. It was not seasoned and so bland as was the dressing and turkey wings. The fried green tomatoes were chewy. And I tasted those time I got in the car as I always do. Huge difference!!! I was really shocked. There has got to be a new cook or at least for 1/8/26. This was not the typical seasoning or taste I was used to. I ate my turkey wings so my stomach wouldn't be touching my back and trashed the rest. Maybe I'll have better luck when I return. I'll be switching things up tho when I order.

Oh go to place every time we are in Macon! Like eating in your grand mom's good ole home cooking. They also offer great cobbler dessert.

The food was good. It is cafeteria style. Got the 1 meat and 2 sides. Fried chicken with green beans and fried tomatoes. For bread was the corn bread. All was good. The food was hot. The service was friendly. There's nothing more to it.

One meal. Beef tips stew over rice with a double portion of rutabagas and cornbread. So delicous and super affordable!

I stopped by for breakfast this morning and was so pleased with the food and customer service.

A baked pork chop topped with cooked peppers and onions with collard greens as a side item.

Summary: A fast food restaurant with a cafeteria style format for Southern comfort foods. Fried Green Tomatoes has a revolving menu. A menu board behind the counter tells you what FGT is serving the day you visit. Beyond that, you have four meal options that include different combinations of meat, veggies, and desserts. My choice was two meats, two veggies, drink, and cornbread. All were very good to excellent. Fried chicken: crispy and excellent. Baked pork chop: a bit dry but veggie liquid improved the taste. Collard greens: nicely seasoned and the best I've had in a while--thoroughly cooked to remove the leafy taste and very tender. Green beans were also seasoned well. The cornbread was flaky and sweet.

Chicken breast hot and steamy throughout meal. Veggies right on brink of salty, but just grandmas kitchen enough.

Nothing really to write home to but seems like they keep a fairly tight ship. Cleanliness not terrible, enough foot traffic to be hard to tell. Family friendly. Moist chicken, good fry. I was hoping they had the calf liver which I've seen in so many pictures. Was a bit disappointed that it was only fried chicken livers, no smothering onions. No malt vinegar, just white, a little strange. Turnips and cabbage on point. Pictured is livers a La carte, friend chicken meals, lots of food.

Fried chicken, pork ribs, collard greens, cabbage, cornbread... for only $8.50!

You need reservations to dine here. There was complimentary bread and peach jam. They have a rotating selection of daily specials, cheeses, and change their menu frequently. Our waiter was very accommodating and did a good job with recommendations and explaining the intricacies of each item.

You definitely feel the love with their servers. Extensive menu knowledge and very service oriented they aim to give you the best experience possible. So after a tasty cocktail and a very nice charcuterie board I went with the Crab and Panko Crusted Cod. Oh my goodness what a delicious entrée. A tasty crusted outside and so tender inside. And that lemon and miso creamed kale topped it all off. Definitely a place to try when in Macon. The only draw back is that it's up stairs on the 2nd floor with no elevator.

So on our way back from visiting friends at Lake Lanier, I as the passenger + navigator said..hmmm...we need a break but let's find soul food. I said. Who goes thru Macon and dont eat good. Not me. So, I hit Yelp. Then I asked AI. Claude. Claude gave me a list and there was the H! So we drove 20 minutes out the way. Best detour ever! Go early. Buy an extra meal for home. I gladly dropped my cash. ..salmon cakes made me cry....everything was off the chain. Well, I had my good juju on, I sat on a bench with a 30 year veteran of this place. She talked my ear off, what a delight. So the place is decked out in Allman brothers memorbilia. It was their early haunt as they rose to fame. Well the founder, older blk lady is dead. Her family smartly sold out to corporate. But it was worth it. They maintained all thats good. Even the tiny old bathrooms. Need an update for sure. But. .Definitely worth the visit. Parking was horrible! So go early! Now, you need to go by Macon cemetery. See Allman burial, civil war places. I want to explore Macon more now! Well, as we drove home, around Jacksonville, I reached in the back seat. No fork. Just a smile. Yes i fed my driver. Salmon cakes hit on all cylinders. Sadly the two meat plate left off my meat, turkey. But forgiven. I should have checked my to go order. Never trust. Always verify. Broke my own rules! Stop by. Soak up history, flavors in this quaint cafeteria style. Nothing fancy. Just pure delight!

When the staff seem to enjoy their jobs and working with each other as well, chances are you have a winner. We were seated immediately in a cozy booth with floor to ceiling graffiti. The place just oozed character! We were told that at times in the loft above our heads they had live music FYI. The waitress was friendly and on point. We never found ourselves waiting to order or for drinks, etc. The food was great. We started with the solid gold soul rolls which were tasty. I'd say 2-3 people for this app. My wife had the hot pig and fig which she enjoyed. She wanted something a little light and it was perfect for her. I ordered the Dr John Burger. The cook forgot my bacon . No bueno. Our waitress was game and was quick to bring me bacon to complete the burger. It was well cooked and the flavors were excellent so all was good. Our companion enjoyed her food as well. We all left full and happy. And, yes I would return and I recommend trying them yourself.

We started with the fried green tomatoes, which were a great appetizer--crispy, flavorful, and a nice way to kick things off. My only disappointment was the fries. They were a bit soggy and lacked the crispiness I was hoping for, especially with the fish and chips. A crisp, hot fry would have taken the meal to the next level. Overall, the food was good, the atmosphere was enjoyable, and I'd definitely come back to try more of the menu.
