Frank and Mark showed up right on time. Not only were they clean, courteous, and incredibly efficient, but they also ended up saving us from a potential household disaster. While working, they discovered our dryer vent was heavily clogged and not releasing lint properly, turning what we thought was just a routine cleaning into saving us from a genuine fire hazard. Without missing a beat, Frank and Mark walked us through the issue, installed new piping, and cleared out every last trace of built-up lint in addition to meticulously cleaning out all the air and bathroom vents throughout the entire house. We decided to hire ATLAS for the job: the furnace was old, and the original roof ducting did a lousy job distributing the heat throughout the house. I was always cold even when the heat was "blasting". ATLAS did a thorough and patient analysis of our old system. They decided to double up the ducts to provide more air flow, and they also organized the flow inside the ducts: it worked. Frankly, the final cost was reasonable, considering the benefits I am getting from it. I particularly recommend Nick and Scott who supervised the project: they really looked into the project, then fixed the problem. Plus: the work was clean, and the communication great all along. They were very responsive to my initial phone message and online inquiry asking about chimney cleaning and servicing, responding with a call back and an email message within one hour. We then talked over the phone to identify a time and date, which was later adjusted by one day over the phone with a follow up email. On the day of work, Sally called asking if they could come two hours early, which was great. Jose and Mike worked efficiently under Sally's supervision, while Sally also took some pictures, followed by a discussion with us about the cleaning and results of the inspection. The chimney had not been cleaned in 63 years and it had a lot of built up deposits, so the team was pretty happy to see the big impact that they made with the cleaning. Up on top, several things were noted for maintenance so that water won't continue to soak from the bricks into the surrounding internal wooden framing during heavy rains. The follow up work that was proposed seemed very appropriate, and very reasonably priced. The very modest cost of the chimney maintenance that now is scheduled will surely help to avoid 10's of thousands of dollars of what would be future water damage costs. We look forward to this team coming back to get our chimney into good condition again. read more

Extremely satisfied! The chimney cap on our roof tipped over. I called Sarah and described the problem. A couple days later, Sally knocked on my door. She had 2 workers with her. She told me that, earlier in the week, when there had been a terrible rainstorm, she had come round and looked at our roof to size it up. She believed she could get the work done. I consented and went and took a nap. She took care of the problem and then she emailed me an invoice, easily paid with credit card. A breeze! This is the kind of problem I would prefer to ignore and hope it would just go away. Working with The Irish Sweep was the next best thing, and the problem actually did go away. The Irish Sweep helped me remove a cracked and potentially dangerous brick chimney. The chimney was brought down from over 3 stories high to a safer level at the top of the inner 1st floor level wood-burning fireplace in preparation for conversion of the fireplace to a decorative gas fireplace. The unsupported brick chimney prior to demolition posed a serious earthquake hazard because it loomed above a 1st floor bedroom. The crew showed up on time and cleaned up after the job was done. We have also been pleased with the care to taken ensure that they kept the dust and dirt from the chimney from our living room. A few years ago a squirrel got into the house through the chimney. Her team, Mike and Jose arrived early, answered all my questions and provided lots of information about my options with rationales. Inspection revealed my chimney did not need to be cleaned, was structurally sound but not safe to use unless modified. My Irish Sweep experience could not have been any better! When I needed my chimney cleared prior to some repairs, I was given a timely appointment. My friendly "sweeper" arrived with his equipment and was attired with Personal Protective Equipment. Working indoors, he swept from the bottom up, and the process was quiet and accomplished in a short amount of time. Scheduled the Irish Sweep for a second opinion visit. I appreciated their candor and professional assessment. In my case, the non-used, unlined chimney is older and starting to rain down a bit more debris. Lining the chimney doesn't make sense as it's not going to be used. Sally recommended several helpful pointers about keeping water out of / away from the structure. So while I didn't need to use the Irish Sweep, I'd 100% recommend them to everyone. read more

We followed the recommendation of friends in Alameda and called the Irish Sweep to clean and inspect our fireplace and chimney. They came today to clean our fireplace - soot rained down from above. There was enough for several shovel-fulls, then the rest was removed with a HEPA filter equipped shop vac. Not a speck of black remained - they even replaced the fire I had laid in it! They also worked magic on our dryer vent - it was terribly clogged. Being widowed I've learned to make fires but I have never opened or shut the flue. It was open when they got there and when they left the last thing they said was "OK now you can make a fire". But they didn't tell me that they had shut the flue or damper. I didn't know it was a thing until I made a fire and my house filled up with smoke. Opening all the doors and windows didn't work. The fire alarm kept going off. I couldn't make it stop. I shut the glass on the fireplace. Ended up having to call the fire department. I had to get my cats and throw them out in the rain and wait outside. The fire dept confirmed the flue was closed. They opened it and they brought in big fans to air the smoke out of my house. It's still smell smoky. The worst thing is this was super traumatic for me. I didn't know why the house was smoky I didn't know what to do. I didn't have my husband or anyone to help and I was panicked. It was a really horrible experience except for the hot firefighters lol. Based on that they would get zero stars so I gave them 2

With the old building he has to make adjustments to products to make it work. I appreciate his promptness and expertise. He's one of the best contractors - fast, easy communication, does what he says he'll do without much effort on my side. Appreciate both the quality and the reasonable price.
