Kristin's (the owner/chief yogini) teacher training (YTT200) incorporates anatomy along the way of the coursework with an optional YTT100 personal development program, only attending the first half. The latter is good for those looking to grow in the understanding of their practice without the commitment to a full six months, or with no inkling to teach. Kristin organizes yoga immersion trips annually. This year Peru and Bhutan. Next year Italy is back on the schedule. My friend and I attended one PowerUp session as a trial…read more 1) We found the other attendees and the instructors to be quiet unfriendly. Literally, not one person introduced him/herself. This is quite different from our experience elsewhere. 2) The warm room was perfect and allowed for us to really work and get into poses that we wouldn't have been able to in a colder setting. 3) It was impossible to hear the instructor over the loud music (Footloose and Staying Alive), which meant that we were continually looking up to see what we should be doing. Unfortunately, this caused my friend to pull a muscle in his neck and he had to leave in the middle. 4) The room was crowded. Not uncomfortably so, but enough that the instructor could not assist attendees as needed. Because there is no form correction from the instructor, I too found myself with neck/back pain the following day and went to my chiro for an adjustment. 5) The instructor called out poses and did not demonstrate. For less advanced yogis this amounted to less benefit than watching a video at home.

She also had a really fun playlist - better than other barre3 classes I've done before for sure. The studio itself is really pretty and bright with a good amount of merchandise for sale. It's a nice open room with lots of mirror real estate. The class itself was more crowded than what I'm accustomed to in New York and I found myself bumping into my neighbor a couple times which was uncomfortable. Imo they would really benefit from reducing the class sizes by 5-10%. I was also a little frustrated by the conflicting info on their website which said in two different places that all equipment was provided, and then separately that you were responsible for bringing your own mats and props. As it turns out, equipment IS provided, but that should really be updated for clarity's sake. All in all, a good and fun workout and I'll be back, but some frustrations with the studio as a whole.

The studio is so beautiful and bright, each staff member is incredibly friendly, and the place has such a great energy overall. I have tried other studios, but nothing even comes close to this. I drive an hour and a half round trip just to take classes here. The intensity of classes and supportive community is worth it. After the 75 minute class relaxation is the sensation students feel. Then the teachers are available to answer questions or concerns. They frequently train and bring back new techniques and coaching to get the most out of the postures. I'll miss classes here now that a new space has opened up closer to me. This cozy studio off Farmington Ave. has everything you need for a great workout. This class was my first time doing pilates with the reformer machine, and Mary was sure to explain everything and help us perfect our form. She was so calming and knowledgeable; you can tell she is passionate about her job and her clients. The workout was much more difficult than I thought it would be-in a good way! Of course Mary makes all the moves look so easy, but I could definitely feel it in my legs and thighs the next morning. Even through a short, introductory session, I could see how regularly attending classes like this would help get that toned look. Drop-ins are $35, but there is a 3 for $20 deal going on now. Mary is also Barre certified, so I am looking forward to trying one of those classes, too!

She had a sunny disposition and clearly loves teaching and is invested in the health of her clients. We started with learning all the basics of the reformer and perfecting our form. It was such a smooth machine and a heck of a good workout! We worked a lot on activating our core, inner & outer thighs and glutes. Under Mary's guidance we focused on breathing techniques to get the most out of each position. I had a great time in the sunny little studio which is located only a couple minutes off 84! So easy to find. I hope to take advantage of the deals she's offering in the near future. Gotta get toned up for the wedding! Thanks Mary!
