The barre classes can be intense, but the instructors always make a point to say listen to your body. If you need to stop, just take a break and go back into it when you can. The yoga classes have been great. I love Alyson's classes, especially the energy medicine class. Very restorative. I have my own mat, but tend to come straight after work and just use their mats. There is a changing room that can be used to change into workout clothes. The staff is engaging, the location is nice with lots of parking (same parking lot as Ken's, but in the back of the building to the right), the pricing for the class cards is reasonable, and the studio is clean and inviting. I have watched my body transform and it continues to get leaner and stronger the longer i stick to a routine. I mainly go to classes by TK and Taylor but all the instructors are highly skilled. TK is extremely upbeat and innovative instructor and truly encourages everyone to just try their best and the results will happen and Taylor reminds me that I always have it in me to make it through until the end of the class. I'm sure the class is supposed to be for people needing a good stretch for tired muscles but I use it as a 'self care' relaxation class. When I leave, I feel refreshed and ready to take on the rest of the week. The best part of the class is that Kristin (the usual instructor) starts every class by saying that if you just want to lay on the floor or stay in child's pose for the entire hour you can - and she means it. This truly is a no-judgement class where you can do as much or as little as you want based on what your body (or mind) is telling you to do. I can't say enough great things about the class - definitely give it a try.

Lo and behold, the week I move back to Connecticut is the week that SolidCore West Hartford opens. Conveniently located in Blue Back Square, this studio is moderately sized. I like the two rows of reformers because it makes it easier to see around the room. The acoustics/layout of the studio is better than most in NYC. I've only been to a couple of classes so far (a bargain at $15 for their first couple of weeks before the grand opening) and I've found them to be just as good, if not better, than the NYC classes I'm used to. The instructors have been great with instruction, hands-on corrections, and encouragement. They've also been challenging classes that have left me sore for the rest of the day and part of the following. Really happy that this studio is now open - hope they decide to go on ClassPass, however, because I live too far for the all-access membership to make sense.

Although they are not physical open due to the Corona virus they quickly setup online classes and also allowed the members to sign out equipment if needed.
