The barre classes can be intense, but the instructors always make a point to say listen to your body. If you need to stop, just take a break and go back into it when you can. The yoga classes have been great. I love Alyson's classes, especially the energy medicine class. Very restorative. I have my own mat, but tend to come straight after work and just use their mats. There is a changing room that can be used to change into workout clothes. The staff is engaging, the location is nice with lots of parking (same parking lot as Ken's, but in the back of the building to the right), the pricing for the class cards is reasonable, and the studio is clean and inviting. TK is extremely upbeat and innovative instructor and truly encourages everyone to just try their best and the results will happen and Taylor reminds me that I always have it in me to make it through until the end of the class. Lo and behold, the week I move back to Connecticut is the week that SolidCore West Hartford opens. Conveniently located in Blue Back Square, this studio is moderately sized. I like the two rows of reformers because it makes it easier to see around the room. The acoustics/layout of the studio is better than most in NYC. I've only been to a couple of classes so far (a bargain at $15 for their first couple of weeks before the grand opening) and I've found them to be just as good, if not better, than the NYC classes I'm used to. The instructors have been great with instruction, hands-on corrections, and encouragement. They've also been challenging classes that have left me sore for the rest of the day and part of the following. Really happy that this studio is now open - hope they decide to go on ClassPass, however, because I live too far for the all-access membership to make sense.

There are so many classes offered by a variety of teachers in a variety of different teaching styles. With all of the times and options offered, there's something to please every yogi. Most classes are an hour and fifteen minutes long. Their website is very user friendly and always up to date with the class schedule, a description of each class, and a bio about the instructor, which generally includes the experience level of the instructor and what got him or her into yoga in the first place. I've never had an issue with classes being too full, and if you don't have your own mat or other yoga props (blocks, belt, blanket), they have them there for use free of charge. The studio feels very welcoming and comfortable as a whole. There are two big rooms for classes and all of the staff are exceptionally friendly, helpful, and supportive of your individual yoga practice. The studio also offers teacher training, clinics, and some specialized classes, including one geared towards individuals dealing with MS. They are open 7 days a week. I'd highly recommend this yoga studio. The location is easily accessible (right off of route 2), convenient (across from the TJMaxx/Shoprite plaza, with its own parking lot), and between the number of classes and different teaching styles, you're guaranteed to find something you like that fits in your schedule.

This last weekend was their opening weekend. They offered a full weekend of free yoga classes. I wish I could have taken them all. The yoga teachers are all very friendly and knowledgeable. The front desk staff are friendly and helpful. The massage therapist is excellent. He was giving free chair massages. Great technique and pressure. The studio spaces easily accommodated 30 people. Nice, new, and clean. After three days in a row at this place, I feel centered and blissed out. A nice oasis of peace in the middle if the frenetic world. Stop in and get your zen on today.

I decided to do a personal training consult to see if someone there could give me the much needed motivation and guidance to whip my booty back into shape. My session was with Wes. He was very knowledgable, courteous and most importantly upfront. He even invited me to stay for a cycling class. The cycling bike was different from the spin bike I'm used to. It took more effort which I enjoyed. The instructor was very nice in continuously checking on me and reminding me to take things at my own pace. I really enjoyed the class. I'm excited to come back for more cycling classes, perhaps some personal training and will definitely check out the rowing class sometime. I highly recommend The Fitness Continuum.
