They hog the machines in groups switching from person to person. They tie up 2machines at a time and spend more time taking pictures of themselves and staring in the mirror. He was very knowledgable, courteous and most importantly upfront. He even invited me to stay for a cycling class. The cycling bike was different from the spin bike I'm used to. It took more effort which I enjoyed. The instructor was very nice in continuously checking on me and reminding me to take things at my own pace. I really enjoyed the class. I'm excited to come back for more cycling classes, perhaps some personal training and will definitely check out the rowing class sometime. I highly recommend The Fitness Continuum.

The staff is friendly but not knowledgeable on what a guest pass includes. I spoke to three different employees who told me three different things so that's been really confusing. They put together a sick playlist though, lol. The equipment is new to me and honestly I removed a star solely because of the hip adduction and abduction machines. The seats move while you're doing your reps and it's probably one of the worst things I've ever experienced. I watched the instructional video and all to make sure my form was correct and I still ended up messing up my back somehow. I do really like the post-workout shake bar, though. I tried the coffee and chocolate shake and it was pretty good. The gym and locker room are really clean. I love the section they have upstairs if you'd like a bit more privacy during your workout. All in all, while this gym is really nice and I think the amenities are beautiful, I don't feel it's worth signing up and being locked in for an entire year.

READ THE FINE PRINT. you are pretty much locked in. For The Edge Fitness Clubs, ABC Fitness is explicitly identified in Edge's current membership terms as its third-party payment processor. Edge's agreement says cancellations, recurring dues, electronic documents, and certain account communications can involve ABC Fitness Solutions, LLC. ABC has also publicly described The Edge as a customer using its ABC Ignite/Perkville technology. They are the same also for Big Sky Fitness, and it's even more explicit: Big Sky's own member handbook says "all membership changes are handled by Big Sky's billing company, ABC Fitness." So ABC handles membership-account administration/billing for Big Sky as well. So, in practical terms: * The Edge Fitness Clubs ABC Fitness handles payment processing/member-management technology. * Big Sky Fitness ABC Fitness is its billing company and handles membership changes. * ABC Fitness does not appear to own either chain. A great YMCA in the heart of Hartford, this YMCA offers a wide range of programs and classes…read moreranging from zumba to cycling that you'll typically find at other locations. I've been going to the T.A.G. (Thighs Abs and Glutes) class along with the Zumba class and each one have left me sore yet wanting more. The faculty is a hidden gem attached to the offices and food court that many people that work downtown know about. Vertical rather than a traditional wide YMCA each level has something different. The bottom floor has the pool and though it isn't as big as the pools at the Wheeler location is serves its purpose if you want to swim some laps. You'll also find a min, body and spirit room for Yoga along with the state of the art locker rooms for men and women with showers, steam and sauna rooms. Next floor up is the gym equipment along with turf and a punch bag section. You'll find cycling there as well. Though it looks little cramp, you'll be able to stretch yourself however you want as you work on your fitness goals. The downside of the place is that it doesn't have a parking lot though they let you validate your parking for $2 for 2 hours rather than the garages standard fare. Since it is below ground there isn't much sun but sometimes it's nice to hide away from the hustle and bustle of Hartford. With a warm towel given to me at check in I'll be soaking that up with my sweat hitting the treadmill, weights and group classes before relaxing with a shower and sauna.

I restarted my membership solely off the fact that I need to stay active and this is the most accessible gym in Hartford, not because I want to spend $73. I would still say the priorities are a little questionable, but at least now there is some new equipment throughout the facility. A lot of the weight machines are newer, but some still seem to have issues when it comes to weights catching or some of the latches not properly closing. They removed a portion of the cardio equipment to make room for a indoor golf simulator... I've never seen anyone using it. I'm not sure who the target demographic was but I guess that's what all of the expensive membership fees were being saved up for. They recently repainted the pool as well.
