The Inn is on the river, but we had a view of the parking lot. Overall I have stayed in better and in worse so that is the Okay score. Checking in and anytime I taked to the staff they weren't friendly but responded to the questions. The room was okay again and the same with bed. We booked The Inn on the River because the website showed a charming, cozy inn right along the river. It definitely delivers on the cozy atmosphere and river views -- and yes, there are plenty of geese to remind you you're by the water! Check-in was seamless, and the front desk staff were friendly and welcoming. They have a nice 24/7 drink bar with instant coffee and tea, plus another bar with juice and tea options during breakfast and again in the evenings (7-10). Small touches like that were a nice surprise. As for the room, it was a good size and overall comfortable. The beds were great, though I did notice housekeeping service declined a bit as the week went on. Towels varied in softness, and the complimentary toiletries were below average -- I'd recommend bringing your own. For a listed 3-star hotel, I'd rate it closer to 2.5 stars. The property is clean and cozy, but for the price point, it could use a few tune-ups. That said, I'd stay here again, especially if you're traveling with family or kids. The pool and hot tub area are nice, and the continental breakfast was fairly decent. Tip: If you're staying on the first floor near rooms 110-120, you might want to request a different area unless you're an early riser -- hallway noise can be noticeable from people coming and going in the morning. read more

We had a view of the river which is nice. We stayed here for the buffet breakfast but it's actually just okay. Eggs were watery tasting, waffles not great. It's just not as good as I pictured. My biggest complies the pool is freezing it's in no way heated and the hot tub is super gross. We own a hot tub and clearly the filter is disgustingly somewhere. You can hear it loudly trying to filter and it's spitting out large chunks of lint I'm worried we'll get something bad getting in, I still do but it is very concerning. read more

We've stayed a couple times at The Inn on the River for work. Always a very late check in for us and they've always been very pleasant and accommodating. The beds are comfortable but the sheets fuzzies shows some miles was had. Rooms and lobby is clean. There's cookies offered at 4pm and popcorn at 7pm in the lobby. Breakfast starts at 7am. Indoor and outdoor seating. We didn't visit the pool. We've had standard and balcony rooms. The balcony room views are great except the ducks comes with the territory and they are loud in the mornings. The beds are more comfortable than the others we've stayed at. read more

This hotel was the best in Pigeon Forge a few years back before being purchased by some chain.. But I believe it has changed hands because the rooms are musty smelling and carpet is dirty and probably full of dust mites. They dont supply real body wash, it is a bar of soap and cheap shampoo and conditioner. USE TO have Bath and Body works.... They have changed the beautiful entrance and it looks more like a chain Hampton Inn. The people cleaning the room do not make sure there are bags in the trash cans or shampoo, or even toilet paper if there is a little on the roll. The service has really went down hill. I was so disappointed that the last owner sold! The hotel has potential but whoever purchased it has no idea how to please customers. The popcorn is free but bland...no salt or butter. Breakfast is good but the same daily. Need some berries and fresh melon. Please whoever is responsible and accountable for what was my favorite hotel in the mountains, get your stuff together! Because even though the beds are great, you have ruined my favorite. Carpet needs to be replaced with Something hypo allergenic and easily cleaned. Also need to change the sheets every 3rd day! Because the floor is so dirty. Keep in mind those ducks poop all over the sidewalks! This week my parents booked a room at Inn On The River. My children and I had already booked an ABNB and they decided to meet us. On our second day in Pigeon Forge, my mom had a major health emergency while at the hotel. We called an ambulance, and she was transported to UT Medical Center. While the paramedics and attending to my mom, Melinda (manager) attended to my 8 year old son. She sat with him in the lobby, gave him a snack, and connected his iPad to the hotel WiFi. The entire staff was so accommodating for myself and children. They made sure before I left for the hospital, that I was added to the reservation so that we could be closer to the hospital and have access to the things my parents may need. Everyday they checked on my mom. We were able to extend our stay and not have to change rooms. When my mom returned Issac, Katlynn and Nancy greeted her and made her feel so loved. Our family could never thank all of these wonderful people enough for their love and support during our time of need. We will definitely be back. We absolutely loved our stay. I particularly loved siting out on the balcony with a cup of coffee early in the morning watching the river, geese and ducks. The breakfast was delicious and the hotel was very clean and the staff were super friendly. I prefer a softer bed but that is a personal preference and I can't hold that against them. I so wish we could have stayed in Pigeon Forge longer - because The Inn was lovely! We only stayed one night, passing through on our way from NC to IA, and stopped over to visit a dear friend. The Inn was one of the best places we have laid our heads. The beds were super comfortable, the linen very soft, the decor was absolutely gorgeous, the rain shower head was heavenly, and the breakfast was exceptional. Hell, even their trash bins outside were decorative! The staff was also very friendly, but then it seems like everyone we came in contact with in TN was friendly. What a wonderful place to visit. I didn't get to walk the river myself, but my sister did and really enjoyed it. We know there is so much to see and do in the area, we want to make our way back there some day. The Inn on the River's location is a perfect spot right on the main drag. The hallways are cute (but a bit hot in our floor) and the main lobby area where they have breakfast and free popcorn and drinks in the evening is also very nice. Our ice machine was inoperable on the 4th floor, but the front desk was quick to provide ice when asked. There's an indoor pool and an outdoor pool that give you the opportunity to soak up the sun or get a little shade if needed. The rooms were clean and accommodating and the beds were comfortable. The full breakfast was a nice touch, but the repeated offerings of sausage did get a little stale. The links were a little overcooked and the biscuit gravy was definitely a pass. While the hotel is clean, and the accommodations are nice, it is the service that makes me want to come back. All the employees are friendly, willing to give you a recommendation to eat, and share their thoughts of attractions in the area. The room rates were extremely affordable, they have a rewards Club that makes it more affordable the next time you come back, and it's definitely worth staying here if you want to enjoy the Smoky Mountains, Pigeon Forge, or Gatlinburg. If you prefer to just relax at the Inn, and maybe say high to the local geese from the fenced patio overlooking the river, you can't go wrong here. read more

The Inn on the River. We made this reservation well in advance. We absolutely loved our experience at The Inn. When we checked in the staff was amazing. They provided a nice gift to our daughter and the hospitality was fantastic. We liked the proximity to other venues in Pigeon Forge (be patient with traffic). They have two pools at the location (one inside and one outside). We enjoyed the indoor pool the first night (did not go back after as our child did not have googles and the chlorine was definitely noticeable when you walked by). They had a very nice hot breakfast that featured many items to chose from. Loved their outdoor seating and nice view of Pigeon Forge and the Mountains. The rooms were clean and spacious. The only item we were a little upset about (but, out of our control and not at fault of the hotel) was the take over from the baseball teams (their was a big tournament in town). They completely took over the entire hotel. I understand they need rooms but would have been nice for the hotel to notify or give a heads up to the other families that were there that "just FYI, a large group is coming in this weekend". Overall, the staff was fantastic. We would definitely consider staying again (but looking to see what big baseball events are in town). Highly recommended staying at this hotel. read more

The perfect stay! We visited Labor Day weekend, August 31-September 2, 2019. Location is on the main strip and close driving to all the main attractions. Staff was very friendly and inviting. Hotel was clean and has many perks, including popcorn, coffee, tea and water in the lobby at all times. We didn't have time to get in the pool but there's two, one indoor and one outdoor. Both looked clean and several families were there having fun. Breakfast was really good; eggs, link sausage, potatoes, biscuits, toast, gravy, oatmeal, cereal and many juices, made to order waffles too. I really enjoyed having breakfast outside under the pavilion by the river. There's a fire pit too! (Some Yelp pictures appear to be before pavilion was built, as in some pictures there's a patio with umbrellas but it's actually a really nice covered area with plenty of dining seating as well as rockers facing the river. Very nice area) There are gum ball type machines by the path to the river that has food to feed the ducks, (25 cents, bring quarters). There were a few ducks hanging around in the river during breakfast so after breakfast we walked down to feed them. The night before we noticed many, MANY geese in the water sleeping right outside our room (we were room 308). Very cool to see so many. We'll definitely stay here again, looking forward to it! read more

It's not as good as it was before the Covid shut down. I remember the breakfast being the staple for staying here. Now it's just like any breakfast you get at any decent hotel. Cheap sausage, hard biscuits, watery gravy, High School scrambled eggs, and a nice waffle. Milk machine is broke. No bacon. And the orange juice isn't real orange juice. The King bed was like laying on a padded brick. And parking has always sucked. This review hurt as we loved this place. I remember wonderful beds and a awesome breakfast. read more

I was very disappointed when I heard that SHELLY the Manager at the Inn On The River, decided to bad mouth my mother and I as the other Front desk rep showed us to our rooms. We stayed here the first time in February 2023 and couldn't have asked for a better experience. We came back in April with a few family members and one room experienced a minor issue, but no biggie. Now a year later we're back and the clerk at the front desk during check-in appeared to be having a bad day or something set her off, but she was a bit abrupt. Again we had multiple rooms and the fridge in one was not working at all and the freezer had melted and water was everywhere inside. Maintenance came and it was either replaced or "fixed" but it never really got cool so we had to put everything in a fridge in the other room. Wi-Fi was out quite often. Hopefully this was just an off week and our next trip will be better. read more

We had the best time with our family staying here. The pools were wonderful and the convenient access to the river or walking path or things on the strip was perfect. Awesome location! The rooms are a little small but the balcony gave us that extra space. Also, i haven't stayed in a hotel as clean as this one in a long time. Another outing that starts with...."so, we had this groupon"... We bought two of their groupon specials to combine for a long weekend, which was four days and three nights in a room with a Jacuzzi, fireplace, balcony, and king bed. We had no problem scheduling, which is always a concern with groupon. The room was quite large and very clean. The Balcony had a beautiful view of the mountains, and of course the river. It was lovely to watch the sunset just wish they had more comfortable chairs out there. There lobby is warm and inviting that it made me actually want to sit there. I've never had a desire to just sit in a hotel lobby and watch people but here I actually wanted to. Their morning breakfasts are amazing. They have excellent biscuits and gravy and my daddy was from the south, so I know biscuits and gravy. I also loved the evening popcorn they made. Also, I couldn't get over how nice the staff was. Maybe it's a southern thing but the were always smiling and super talkative to people at breakfast. If I had to saw one negative thing it would be that their Jacuzzi are not super comfortable and the jets never hit in the right spot. They are not positioned to hit key areas like the upper and lower back Just thinking about the great time we had makes me want to go back! Tips: 1. If you're not interested in the all the super touristy things and want to avoid crowds go the week before Christmas. Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg were almost like ghost towns, which we enjoyed because we could drive anywhere in minutes and didn't have to deal with crowds at the Gatlinburg mall or aquarium. read more

Great place to stay if you're in Pigeon Forge. Not like the chain hotels in the area, nicer but not too expensive. It's right on the river which is nice. Your room can overlook the river or the parking lot. We were on the parking lot side, but it wasn't noisy at all. Room was nice, however the lighting could be better. Main bedroom had three lamps and there was this little alcove with a desk that had no light at all even though it was by the window (it was dark). Bed was comfy and the bathroom was a decent enough size. They have a hot breakfast daily with eggs, breakfast meat, waffle station, biscuits & gravy and grits. It wasn't bad. Waffle was good. Grits, not so much. Eggs, ok. It's better then most and they have several staff members helping with the waffles, cleaning up and making things run smoothly. Have stayed at many hotels in my 50 yrs. While not new, this place was clean, well kept and had everything we needed that you can expect from a good hotel. They go above the normal mark by having a good wholesome buffet in the morning that is just as good as any shoneys or golden corral that i have been too, Pool area was always clean and well tended, main lobby always looked like it had been just cleaned as well as the halls and elevators. We had a jacuzzi that was easy to use and staff was always ready to help with any request. Blake helped me over the phone prior to arrival & during our stay. He was always polite, professional & went out of his way to be helpful. All desk staff were friendly. I didn't get the name of the older woman working the breakfast area, but each time we saw her she was friendly & on top of making sure everything was in order. We loved the jetted tub after a long day of walking around and waking up to geese in the river every morning. We really enjoyed our stay here. Check in was quick and the staff are very friendly and welcoming. They have complimentary popcorn, cookies and coffee in the lobby. Our room was clean and very nice, especially for the price. The continental breakfast is a great addition and I loved sitting in the rocking chairs around the outdoor fire pit. The only thing that's a little inconvenient is that you can not make a left turn out of the parking lot. You have to turn right and make a U-turn at the next light. Hi. My parents are super cautious right now due to COVID but decided to venture out and book a room at your Pigeon Forge location at the end of August to celebrate their Anniversary. They had an extremely poor experience. First of all, they booked a room with a jacuzzi and fireplace but when they got there they were told that wasn't the room they asked for. In an effort to get in and out of public interaction(COVID concern) with the staff there, they decided to not fuss about it and just deal with the mix-up. Prior to them leaving for the trip I talked to my mom and she insisted she was going to get there and use all of her own sheets, pillows and blankets trying to protect themselves from COVID. We laughed about this extreme measure. So upon arrival she had someone take all of the bed linen including pillows out of the room and so they did. The first night they were there the air conditioner went out 3 times. As a result the manager took half off for that night. During their 2nd night the air went out 3 or 4 times and this time no money was taken off the room and they were given a tiny fan to help with the heat. She said the repair guy fixed it 3 times. To add insult to injury, they were accused of stealing the pillows because they were missing from the room! Again, they asked to have them removed and they were removed by the staff when they got to the room so to turn around and be accused of such nonsense is unfathomable. The experience was so poor that my sister, in an effort to make sure they had at least one good night while there in Pigeon Forge, paid for them to have a room at the Christmas Place right down the road. read more

We stayed here on our first trip to Tennessee. It was in a great location with lots of restaurants, shops, and attractions near by. Only about a 15 min drive to Dollywood and the Aquarium. The hotel was very clean and the staff were all very friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was more than just toast an fruit and was continental. The only downside was that they didn't have a fitness center; however they do offer a pass to the local fitness club for guests but it is an extra $6.50 charge per day. Overall, the stay was great and we can't wait to come back. read more

Cozy hotel on the river with great customer service. When you arrive, they have fresh baked cookies and goodie bags for the kids. We arrived the day before Easter and they did an Easter egg hunt on their lawn which was a nice touch. They called our room once we checked in to make sure we had everything we needed. The breakfast had something for everyone and was your typical hotel breakfast. They had a nice sunroom overlooking the river that you could eat your breakfast in. There was free popcorn in the lobby in the evenings which the kids enjoyed. There was an indoor pool and hot tub which was very popular in the evenings. Beds were comfy and location was perfect for Pigeon Forge. We stayed in a river front room which I would recommend. We were evacuated from our vacation due to Hurricane Florence and had an injured party with a ankle boot. Feeling down and tired we set our sights on just a comfy bed and easy access for the injured party. It tuned out to be a mini vacation! We had concerns about the tub, they had a shower chair! We needed more towels, within moments! Free popcorn between 7-10! Free breakfast bar that had an oatmeal station, waffle station with warm strawberries and whipped cream if you wanted! Bacon, sausage, cereals, breads, bagels, yogurt, scrambled eggs and hash browns which were all delicious! Only thing missing was fresh fruit! Last but not least was the staff! Everyone was helpful, accommodating and made us feel special! As for last, our river first floor room with a patio! Yes! This place has all boxes checked! This was the second time of us staying here the first time was wonderful! This time however was a totally different experience. Due to renovations that had not been completed on time, our entering and exiting the parking lot was the first hurdle we had. The construction workers and their equipment were blocking the entrance of the hotel when we arrived, so we had to wait for them to move. Upon exiting our car to register we were greeted by the "blue Port-a-Johns" that were by the office in the parking lot. In case you have no idea what a port-a-john is, its the little blue plastic houses you see on construction sites used for a portable bathrooms that smell exactly like their purpose. We got checked in and proceeded to our room but we could not use the door closest to our room assignment because of more construction. The door we were told to use was the very last door going into the building and the threshold of the door and parking lot was full of mud that we had to walk through to access the building. We opened the door to the building and the paint fumes in the hallway were breath taking and were present through our entire stay. I was given a courtesy call earlier in the week advising me that the indoor pool and hot tub were going to be closed on the Thursday we arrived, but assured that they would be open on the next day. The pool or tub were not available for our entire stay. I tried to find a room at other hotels but of course everything was booked full so we were stuck. The hotel did apologize and gave us 10% off our bill but if I had been told they were renovating I would have found other accommodations. If you are planning a trip for June/July 2020 be forewarned that this hotel is currently renovating. read more
