Vegetable Saltado ["SALTADO DE VEGETAL (VEGGIES)"]
    Michael S.

Loved this little Peruvian spot in the awesome Rodeo 72 food hall at The Groves shopping center in Whittier. My Vegetable Saltado ["SALTADO DE VEGETAL (VEGGIES)"] was excellent- and I was pleasantly surprised by all the other veggie options as well. My 2 colleagues enjoyed their Peruvian rotisserie chicken orders from here also ["POLLO A LA BRASA"]. Great flavors, and excellent service too. Good place.

The Inka Spot is a Peruvian restaurant in Whittier. Smash Tuesday $5 Special; you get 1/4 chicken with one side . They are famous for the Tallarín Verde with Lomo Saltado. This is Creamy Pesto topped off with Peruvian beef stir fry. Saltado Camaron with fried rice. This dish comes with shrimp stir fry with fried rice. If you love fried rice, try it with shrimps. The Pescado frito with rice and salad is a Fried Fish with garlic steam rice and salad. The fried fish with rice is huge and buttery. Whole pollo with fries & salad comes with rotisserie chicken served with fries and salad. The chicken plate with rice or fries are completely delicious. The jalapeño creamy sauce is complimentary and tastes so good with beef or chicken. Service is friendly and cozy atmosphere. The location in a food hall offers a lively vibe.

Was craving Peruvian food and decided to give Inka Spot a try which is located in Rodeo 72. Each dish is served with a side of aguadito. aguadito rating: 5/5 super flavorful and delicious tallarin w/chicken: 2/5 it was okay at best? Wasn't super impressed because the noodles felt like spaghetti textured ones and not the typical ones I've had in a tallarin dish before. lomo saltado w/chicken: 4.5/5 Delish! Fries were well seasoned and tasty, good chicken portion. overall: The tallarin w pollo wasn't really as flavorful as I'd hoped and needed all of the extra salsa provided added in to provide spice and flavor.

Love Peruvian food and this place hits the spot, the chicken is delicious! The cashier was great in recommending dishes to try and made me feel so welcome. Also a plus that they're inside a food hall where there are cool little places to sit & enjoy the entertainment.

soup (that I didn't order) that turns out has the cilantro rice in it.

Got there today @ 12:40pm. Not a person near the place. (that should have been my first clue.) I ordered the 1/2 rotisserie chicken combo that is advertised @ $15. After ordering one small side salad i see the $31 charge. The extra charges were kind of explained... i guess..? i bit the bullet and then waited and waited and waited...Meanwhile the one worker is literally standing there doing nothing but playing on her phone...for 20 min. Tried to get her attention she just kept looking down. There was no other customers that even stopped by! Finally i get the food. The chicken looked tasty but turned out lacking in taste ...like bland. Then i see the 'cilantro rice' and it's basically soup!! lol I ask for some extra sauce and get told it's another .50 for the smallest portion 1 oz.? the pinto beans were fine but the whole experience was a disappointing and i will never go back to that place especially in light of the fact that there are so many other options here. Much better. I guess I'm just disappointed that I picked the worst place! :(. Beware!

I was recommended this restaurant by a relative and they brought us here for dinner on Sunday! They have their own parking lot but there's very limited spaces if it does get busy. Walking in, we were instantly greeted and asked how many were in our party. We were instantly seated but there were quite a few occupied big tables around us. I couldn't catch our waitress's name but she was so attentive and nice to us! She would come ask if we needed refills, napkins, extra utensils, or extra bread and butter. After you order, you get complimentary bread and butter! They also have this green spicy sauce that you can dip your bread in. Between the 8 of us, we ordered 1 soup, 1 appetizer, and 4 main dishes! Everything came out so fast and was so tasty! You can even see the chefs preparing the food through the transparent glass. Food: Lomo Saltado (9/10): I absolutely loved this dish! The only thing I will say is that it was on a little salty for me but that's not something a little water couldn't help with. The beef was cooked so nicely, it was tender and the portioned nicely so it could be chewed with each bite. The grilled onions were for sure my favorite part. The onions soaked in all the sauce but were still crunchy which adds a nice texture to the soggy french fries. The french fries also soaked in all the sauce! There's also a side of rice to help make you more full! Tallarines Salteo de Carne (9/10): This dish was identical to the lomo saltado but instead of french fries, it was noodles! I equally loved this dish since they used the same sauce but with noodles instead! I had no complaints except it was on the saltier side but didn't mind it at all. Everything's the same as my lomo saltado review, perfectly cooked meat and onions! Jalea de Mariscos (9/10): This was our appetizer! It comes with a few fried items (fish fillet, shrimp, and squid). I think there are also Yukon potatoes but I could be mistaking it for another form of potato. The squids are fried in bite sized and they're so easy to eat! It also comes with an onion salsa that's so delicious! The salsa is sour so definitely be careful when dunking your food in there. I believe that this one comes in a half or full size!

Cut up into small piece, it was good tasting just the portion was WEEK at best, a few full pieces of chicken was what i expected from the photos on the site. I also ordered Arroz Chaufa de Pollo, it was good, its hard to mess up fried rice. In addition i ordered Lomo Saltado, it was ok, not as flavorful as i remember it being. I been eating here for over a decade. It changed names a while back if i remember correctly Overall i was disappointed for $60 for the 3 plates. I checked online for the amount it would be $59.27 for the 3 plates, when i tried to call in the order i was quoted 64, i asked why the difference as it should have been cheeper as i had an addition Convenience Fee: $2.49. So i ordered it online. I wanted to pay cash but ened up getting cash back from the CC purchase. The waitress who gave me my order did it with a big smile, That was the best part of the meal.

The menu had so many different options that I had a hard time deciding between the soups, traditional meat dishes, and pasta selections. I ended up ordering a pasta dish that surprisingly had an Asian-inspired flavor profile. It reminded me a bit of Kung Pao chicken with linguini, thanks to the red and green bell peppers, onions, and a nice kick of spice. It was delicious, especially with the house-made green salsa they served on the side. I also ordered a side of rice and beans, and although I passed on the plantains since I was dining solo, the server kindly brought me a sample, which was such a thoughtful touch. This is a cozy, mom-and-pop, hole-in-the-wall spot with a mix of two- and four-top tables. Parking was easy, and I found a space right in front. I stopped by just before closing, and there were still a few people enjoying dinner. Expect to spend around $30 per person. Overall, I enjoyed the food and friendly service, and I'd definitely come back if I'm in the area again.

It was a hole in the wall and had relatively good reviews for lomo saltado so I had my hopes up thinking the food would be amazing. My chief complaint is that it took almost 30 minutes for my single order to come out because the kitchen was busy prioritizing to-go/delivery orders. Had I known this, I wouldn't have eaten inside the restaurant; I would've actually gotten it delivered. My next complaint is that no receipt was given as customer copy, and no itemized receipt when asking for tip. The total for this dish came out to almost $30 including tip, and the waitress/cashier didn't mention the lunch special at all. I brought it up to ask about it after I paid, to which she replied, "Oh, you probably don't want that cuz it's smaller. But it comes with a drink and soup." The fact that she assumed I wouldn't want the lunch special (when I'm there at lunch time) that would've been a much better deal at $17.99 and perfect portion size for me, and yet charged me for the regular dinner price was a bit presumptuous. It's also weird that they would ask for a tip (which I gave anyway) before I even received my meal. It's less about the price but the principle! But I was just hungry and needed to go to my next appointment, so I didn't argue, but again, the food took way too long to come out so I had to ask her about it after the 25 minute mark. Food came out after 30 minutes, and I had to get up and ask for the aji verde sauce when most restaurants usually serve it to you with the meal. The aji verde sauce which is really important to me to complement this dish, unfortunately missed the mark as well. I really missed Sol Inka's aji verde sauce that's well-rounded in every way. Lomo saltado should be balanced between the meat, tomatoes, onions, and fries, but it was definitely heavy on the fries with only two pieces of tomatoes. I would've preferred more meat too if it's the regular plate, but it felt like a fries dump. I wouldn't have had complaints if this were the lunch special order. Anyways, if you don't mind the headache & having to be extra proactive to get what you want, this is the place to be, but it's definitely not my cup of tea. $30 for a sub-par lomo saltado where well over half of it is fries does not sit well with me, considering I waited 30 minutes for my meal. Unfortunately, I'd just have to stick to Sol Inka for my regular Peruvian food fix, as the flavor is more robust there anyways. Oh, and Sol Inka also gives complimentary warm bread and butter, while there isn't anything like that here.

From the moment the food hit the table, you could tell everything was prepared with fresh ingredients and genuine care. Every bite tasted authentic, flavorful, and made with love. The ceviche was incredibly fresh, the flavors were vibrant, and every dish brought back that comforting feeling of homemade food. It's rare to find a place that combines quality, authenticity, and consistency so well, but Bailey Peruvian Cuisine does exactly that. I would describe this place as that saying "Jack of all trades, master of none". I came with a group and we all ordered a variety of dishes, yet nothing stuck out. For a small space they have 1 waitress who needs better skills, she may be new. I say this because even as she brought out dishes she brought things out in pieces (got my shrimp cocktail, then had to ask for crackers, then had to ask for lemon, then had to ask for salt and pepper). Some points for the food: Talllarin - chicken was dry, pasta good Bandeja paisa - 7/10 arepa dry, no beef or beans Shrimp cocktail - very little shrimp, little to no juice, like a salsa mix in the cocktail Gyoza - good can't mess that up Lomo - eh fries came warm not hot, doesn't look like a traditional sauce The good things about this place: Good little green salsa and they served a good chicha de mora. Would I come back? No. You can definitely find better quality food and cheaper prices at a regular 1 cuisine restaurant. I would like to add presentation was nice on the food but nothing tasted quite right...
