And a stop at the Dairy Carnival is always welcome, especially after three hours in the car. They've got Perry's hard ice cream and soft serve. I go with the former because I'm an adult (this is a dig at my soft-serve loving wife), and I went wild this time with the Deep Sea Treasure (caramel ice cream with salty caramel swirls and caramel sea salt truffles). I like salty with my sweet, and it was amazing...the salt content means it's also the fastest melting ice cream known to man, so be warned. My kids got soft serve swirls with rainbow sprinkles, because they are tiny little girls and that's what they do. The younger one got mad at absolutely nothing and threw hers on the ground about a minute after we gave it to her, and then stole handfuls of her older sister's because she's a savage. But everyone enjoyed the stop, because ice cream on a hot day is one of life's great pleasures. Don't deny yourself. Come to the Dairy Carnival. It's a classic All-American spot staffed that we were glad to find: they've got burgers, fries, onion rings, hot dogs, chicken fingers, and ice cream, served by friendly teenage girls. Thus far, we've only had the ice cream, but I think we'll be back for it all some day in the near future. The food menu consists of hot dog, hamburger/cheeseburger, crispy chicken sandwich (spicy and regular), hand cut french fries, onion rings, mozzarella sticks, fried pickle chips, Mac n Jack/ Mac n cheese bites and cheese curds. I found the beef patty of decent size with a nice bun, the cheese was a bit lacking, it should be nice and melty. Also perhaps in the future offer lettuce and tomato as standard and Bacon for an upcharge (because Bacon makes everything better). We found one burger a bit under done for Dawn's liking so I offered to switch with her, she doesn't believe she was asked for degree of doneness at the time of the order. We found the onion rings nice and crisp and the zesty sause added a nice kick. We finished with 2 baby size soft twists with chocolate sprinkles, cone in a cup. A nice treat to end the visit. The Ice-Burgh offers a number of picnic tables with umbrellas with a view looking towards the majestic Vroman's Nose mountain. We will definitely be back!

Made the 35 minute trek to try their ice cream bubble waffle cones…read more   We ordered the taco bubble waffle with mint chip ice cream, Oreos, peppermint patties and chocolate sauce as well as the Bull Dogs bubble waffle cone, which had twist, peanut butter cups, M&M's, peanut butter chips, and chocolate and peanut butter sauces.   They were both drool worthy! The waffles tasted fresh and were soft and pillowy. If you're a fan of lots of toppings on your ice cream, this place will be your new favorite. The menu is full of creative options and if you're in the mood to create your own, the topping options are endless.   However, if you're like me and you consider yourself a hard ice cream connoisseur, you may be disappointed. For ice cream options there's chocolate, vanilla and twist soft serve as well as a handful of hard ice cream flavors: chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, coffee, mint chip and chocolate chip cookie dough.   The good news is that they had more hard ice cream flavors at the counter than they did on their website, so that leads me to believe they may be slowing adding new flavors.   And even though Berne is a drive for most of us, it's a nice ride especially in the summer and most likely the fall too.
