Absolutely DELICIOUS! A Must-Try Breakfast Spot in Glendale!…read more If you haven't been to Jalapeños Sonora Grill in Glendale, AZ, you're seriously missing out! I ordered the Breakfast Steak Burrito with added bacon, and let me tell you... WOW! It was so incredibly good that I completely forgot about taking a picture. I was way too busy devouring every last bite! That's how you know the food is GOOD! The combination of savory steak, crispy bacon, and all that delicious breakfast goodness wrapped up in a burrito was exactly what I needed. Every bite hit the spot! I came in hungry and left a VERY happy customer. The kind of meal that has you thinking about coming back before you've even finished eating! If you're looking for a satisfying, flavor-packed breakfast in Glendale, do yourself a favor and give Jalapeños Sonora Grill a try. Bring your appetite, support this local gem, and thank me later! Five stars, no photo, no regrets... just an empty plate and a happy stomach! I'll definitely be back!

The pollo was my favorite: well seasoned, with a nice crust and char. The asada was okay but needed more seasoning and a char would have been nice. The pastor was a little goopy for my liking; some char would have really elevated it. The Sonoran taco, with asada, green chile, and cheese, was decent, but nothing out of this world. At $3.10 per taco, or $3.35 with grilled onions, the prices are reasonable. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, and the staff was very friendly.

Our waiter was amazingly effusive and very good at upselling - though I didn't bite at the upsell, I did get a nice mango margarita, which really hit the spot! You can see a pic of it below. But this man was hungry, I ordered a combo plate. It had a beef taco, a tostada, and an enchilada. With just a little bit of rice thrown in for good measure. OK - now here's the thing. Was the food any good? Was the ambience of the restaurant adequate for the price point? Yes and yes! Gotta say I was impressed. And a special shout out to the waiter, who gladly took a picture of us while we were chowing down our meal! Needless to say the waiter made all the difference, frankly - the service was very impressive and the food was pretty darn good too. Oh, I forgot to mention the chips and salsa? Very garlic forward and a nice little spicy hit and was absolute perfection! The funny part of it is that this place was right across the field from where the Seattle Mariners do their spring training - I had brought my mom here, probably 25 years ago as she was a major Mariners fan and wanted to see this place. Of course the restaurant wasn't across the street back then! But what a cool location and what a nice restaurant. Definitely will return when I'm back in the Phoenix area!

There was no line in the drive thru and my guess was that was because they went down-hill in food quality like most expensive places eventually do. Thought this is my last time thru because $20 for steak burrito and a drink. (Thank goodness for gift cards). The burrito was so unexpectedly great, that mid-burrito I'm planning on coming back tomorrow for the shrimp burrito. The burrito was huge, and I only ate half, so will be back in 2 days for shrimp. Incredible flavors, sauce and some (arugula?) lettuce in the burrito. I am NOT a lettuce person, but this dark green lettuce so complimented the burrito that I have to say you can never take it out. The Diet Coke was great, and the cup, for me was awesome. Maybe low expectations made everything better, but I honestly believe this place was great today (and the cashier was even overly friendly, yet genuine).

We are aware that it is not an eat in place. Usually the food is great. Right on point. Today the food tasted good but was definitely on the cold side. I was concerned about this because I received an alert at 11:10am that my order was ready. Only problem is, I set my time for pick up at 1130. My husband picked up the order at 1127. He brought to me about 10 mins away. By the time we all sat down to eat, it had been sitting around for 30 mins. So needless to say, I am very frustrated. Not only is our food now cold, or Luke warm at best. This was so supposed to be something fun and it has turned into me having to leave a less than positive review for something that should have been great and easy.

Otherwise the carne asada, lengua and tripa tacos were all delicious and generously portioned! They have grilled jalapeños, and a self-serve garnish bar with 4 different types of salsas, pickled red onions, sliced cucumbers, shredded cabbage, diced onions and chopped cilantro, lime, and their liquidy guac. We came back already for their crunchy tripas and will continue to visit for our taco/burrito fixes. Service: 5-stars - Open kitchen behind the service counter allows you to see how they cook their meats over the charcoal grill. Our order came out pretty quick. 10-15 mins max. It's a fast casual spot so open seating, no host/waiters but there are workers that clean the dining area. Ambiance: 4-stars - Nothing special but clean and open dining areas. Multiple TVs for your viewing pleasure along with an outdoor patio area for outdoor dining. Overall 4-stars - I will say, after ordering for takeout last week, the best experience is to dine-in. The tripas were not as crunchy when taking home to eat. However, if you like your tripas crunchy like I do, dine-in and eat fresh is the best. Tacarbon satisfied our taco craving but they also offer cheese crisps, burritos and plates that include tortillas and beans. Pretty good overall, but definitely still room for improvements - especially for the premium price point. Definitely recommend to check out if you haven't already. It's probably going to be our new go-to spot for Mexican food.
