After noticing charges that appeared higher than what I understood from my EOB, I contacted the office for clarification. Marlenn, the business manager, initially responded saying they would check whether I was entitled to any refund, but the charges themselves still were not clearly explained. After that, I went nearly a full month without meaningful follow-up despite attempting to get clarification about what I was being charged for. Because I still did not understand the charges, I filed a chargeback dispute for the amount above what I believed was allowed based on my EOB and contacted my insurance company. Only through my insurance company did I finally learn that certain charges were separate out-of-pocket office fees not billed through insurance. Once that was explained, I released the chargeback because I had in fact received the services. Only afterward did I receive a short, unsigned email from the office listing the charges. The tone came across as curt and dismissive. Patients absolutely have the right to question charges they do not understand. You respond today, you get reviewed today, and I won't sign either.

On the day of the procedure, I was understandably nervous and anxious. But with sweet Luca, their therapy dog, on my lap, I felt a sense of comfort. Carol, Dr. Chen's assistant, held my hand throughout the process, and to my surprise, it was over before I knew it! I felt zero pain--not even a prick. A few visits later, after a trip to the lab, I received my new crowns, and they are absolutely beautiful. I can't believe I waited so long to make this change, and I've received countless compliments on them. Dr. Chen and Carol even showed up on a Friday when they were not in the office to ensure I get my permanent crowns before I left for my trip. Despite that, they insisted on taking new X-rays. I later found out they were not covered by my insurance because they had been done too recently. To make matters worse, I was led to believe I was making a copay payment. It wasn't until I asked for a receipt that I discovered I had actually been charged for the X-rays. Had I known that was what I was paying for, I would have questioned it immediately. The office acknowledged that this was their mistake and assured me the charge would be refunded. Nearly two months later, I still have not received my refund. I've called about once a week to follow up, and every conversation has been disappointing. Diane either seems confused about why I'm calling or has the details of my case wrong. Most recently, she told me that my insurance company would be sending me a check instead of the office issuing a refund--which makes no sense since the charge resulted from the office's own error, not my insurance company's. It's incredibly frustrating to have an office admit they made a mistake but then delay resolving it for months while repeatedly acting as though they don't understand the situation. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this office.

From further xrays it showed that I still have pieces of broken tooth that are making their way into my sinus cavity requiring surgery to fix. I have good dental insurance, and these services are supposed to be covered. For context, I have always taken great care of my teeth. I go to the dentist every six months, brush and floss regularly, and I'm usually complimented on how healthy my teeth are and how well I maintain them. Nothing about my dental history would suggest the level of treatment or costs I was quoted here. I was there over an hour for X-rays and supposedly a cleaning -- except no cleaning was ever done. Instead, I was told I couldn't get a regular cleaning and would need a "special" cleaning that would cost $900 after insurance. That alone was a huge red flag. It only got worse from there. I was quoted almost $1,000 just to fill TWO cavities, again after insurance. Altogether, they tried to push over $4,400 out of pocket for treatment. At no point did this feel transparent or reasonable -- it felt like a bait-and-switch designed to upsell unnecessary or overpriced services. The equipment appeared janky and unreliable, and the X-ray process was concerning. The person taking the mouth X-rays seemed uneducated on how to properly take them and didn't know how to use the equipment, resulting in my X-rays having to be redone multiple times. On top of that, the room was uncomfortably hot, which only added to the overall unpleasant experience. Once I made it clear I wasn't interested in paying thousands of dollars out of pocket, the attitude shifted quickly and I was essentially told I could leave. I walked in expecting routine dental care and walked out feeling like I had narrowly avoided being taken advantage of. I would strongly caution anyone -- especially those with insurance -- to get a second opinion elsewhere before agreeing to anything at this office.
