I should have read reviews before I booked our hotel here. It's college move in week and the Marriott was already booked to be honest. I have stayed at the marriot on the commons before and I will do that again next time. To begin, we had to move rooms because our room was dirty. Cleaned but dirty. Front desk was nice about it and got us out quickly. In general, this hotel is not worth the money. There is no ambiance, rooms are fine and it just doesn't have the charm you would hope in Ithaca. There was also a big dance competition which raised a lot of complaints. Blasting loud music for a bunch of little kids. We didn't hear it until you went downstairs but you couldn't drink a cup of coffee in the lobby that's for sure. Our room also had no toilet paper (odd) and when I called she said it would be an hour and a half until cleaning came in and her runners are all busy for at least 15 min. She was not friendly and sounded annoyed that toilet paper was a necessity. The whole experience for almost $400 a night was just a huge disappointment. Definitely stay at marriot or another. I always want to blame problems on Covid and to take it lightly but Covid doesn't cause rudeness (at least haven't read that report yet!) read more

Not real happy. Room is marked up 3x taking advantage of the graduation weekend. Rooms are over 80 degrees and the response is that's all they can do Unacceptable no one seems to care So thank you for the response , not for the words but rather the reminder. After I posted my initial review I did what most people most likely do, I didn't finish the story The Ithaca hotel went out of their way to correct the situation the next day. They explained what had happened and why, and they did everything reasonable ( and more ) to express how badly they felt about what had happened. I would definitely go to the Ithaca again based on how the responded to what had to be a horrific situation for them !!! read more

I recently stayed at Hotel Ithaca for a conference. If you are considering hosting a conference or event at Hotel Ithaca, look somewhere else! Their unsatisfactory service and beyond terrible management reflected poorly upon our organization for not choosing a classier location to host our event. I guess you get what you pay for (or in this case much less)! By far one of my worst hotel experiences. For one, the hotel staff never cleaned the rooms of many event attendees, and the food was disappointing. While the hotel staff were friendly, they were incredibly disorganized and mistake-prone, often just telling us what we wanted to hear and then never following through on their promises. The worst part of my experience though was dealing with the manager. Having run a business that operates in the service industry, I can say without a doubt that this manager has no clue how to manage a hotel or deal politely with customers. Read the other reviews if you don't believe me. There are multiple instances of the manager making pretty outlandish accusations against customers and treating them very rudely. The only upside to this place is the location. However, you can get a much better deal at the nearby Marriott Hotel or Hilton Garden Inn. read more

Very very poor service . Room was a suite for 500$ for the night and as we checked in in front of room door were dirty plates and food . Had to Call twice to get them removed . Allowed several hours between calls. Room was fine . No parking in the lot which we were told had ample parking . Very disappointed. I would choose la tourelle or Marriot ! read more

I just got back from a 4 night stay at Ithaca Hotel. I had a newly renovated room on the 9th floor which was gorgeous. Although the hotel's parking is not currently available, there was a garage across the street which was convenient. The staff was knowledgable and professional. The location was perfect (my son easily walked to the hotel from College Town). I hope to stay here again! read more

Great location - walking distance to nice restaurants and shopping. The room was great, very clean and comfortable. I look forward to going back and staying there. The town is someplace I'd like to come back to (with more time!), and I will definitely stay at Hotel Ithaca :) read more

Room on the 1st floor, so much noise from the hallway and room next door, I was up most of the night. Paper thin walls and doors! Bathroom had hairs on the floor and in the tub and had a sour smelling shower curtain. Horrible pillows, so bad that I used my robe as a pillow. No coffee in the lobby in the morning and we were made to feel like it was a chore for them to provide some! read more

The general manager should not be in the hospitality business. His name, Sonny Kamiri. I needed to cancel a reservation I made for Ithaca Colleges postponed graduation due to COVID-pandemic. When I made the reservation I specifically stated that it was for the graduation. Unfortunately graduation is cancelled. As such, I called to cancel my reservation. After being bounced from the front desk to the manager, I was told I had to speak with the general manager. At first he stated the hotel would not provide a refund but a credit. I said I haven't paid anything, so I do not heed a refund. Just a cancellation. I indicated that when I made the reservation, despite the clerk putting the reservation as advance purchase, no monies were paid. Then when Mr. Kamiri stated that I will he charged in August when the reservation was to occur, I stated that that was illogical, since I'm calling nearly 2 months in advance and said res was made for a graduation cancelled by an act of God. He then told me he'll cancel the reservation BUT IM PROHIBITED FROM EVER STAYING AT THE HOTEL AGAIN. I found this outrageous, discriminatory and offensive. I will be advising his employer. Hopefully he will lose his job and enter a field where he does not have to interact with people. When I asked his name after he finished his rant, he refused to give his name and abruptly hung up on me. read more

What a pleasant surprise! A step up from super-chain, this place boasts an updated lobby upon arrival, along with a friendly staff. Although I arrived a few hours before checkin (and the rooms had been fully booked the previous night) I was able to check my bags in at the front desk, and head to the fitness center for a nice workout while I waited. The rooms themselves are very spacious and updated - with a clean masculine feel. The absolute highlight, however, is the bed. Hands down the most comfortable bed I've stayed in (and I travel every week for work!) I'm not kidding. I would literally travel back to Ithaca to sleep in this bed. I want it for my home. All in all, a great experience! read more

My stay at the Hotel Ithaca started out great, then went downhill from there. Beautiful entrance but no greeter/bellhop to assist with luggage. Registration went off without a hitch. Found the room - it was gorgeous and spacious. There was no hotel directory or map of the area to be found, however the front desk staff printed me a map, which was useless because it was illegible. Found my destination by verbal instructions. Brought guests back to Max's Grille for drinks and appetizers after the show. Appetizers were half price, but took an hour to get because the host/bartender/wait staff/cashier consisted of one person for a room full of patrons (on a Saturday night?). Upon bidding goodnight to my guest, biggest surprise occurred when I returned to my room and turned down my bed to find: a nail clipping, a short, fuzzy hair and many black lint particles. I put the duvet on the floor and slept on it. I reported this all to the front desk and in my hotel review. Haven't heard a word. No worries. They won't hear another word from me either. Worst hotel stay of my life. Was unfortunate enough to be given a room directly above the huge, acoustic, open lobby...nothing but a door separating me from every heel click, loud conversation, and banging when they mopped at 6am. Horrible hotel design flaw. Definitely request a room away from the second floor if you value sleep and don't want to wake up 7 times in the night like I did. I stayed here from a Thursday to Sunday for a wedding with my mom. We chose the hotel because they provided transport to and from the airport for free... allegedly. We called during our layover to give them the time when we would land and the front desk said the van would be waiting. When we landed we walked to the labeled van, and the driver rudely put his hand up and said "I'm full of flight crew I could come back in thirty minutes for you probably". We ended up calling a cab, and then we're told we would not be reimbursed for it. Then we were placed in our room which was dirty, dusty, old, and appeared as if the beds were slept in and never changed. We called the front desk twice before anyone came up to look at the room, once someone did they offered to change the sheets. We asked for a new room. The new room wasn't much better. The tv gets three fuzzy channels. Then Sunday morning we got up for an easy breakfast at the hotel and sat ourselves and it was 15 minutes before an employee even saw us, or anyone else in the restaurant . As a matter of fact someone had to knock on the kitchen door before an employee came out. We paid about 200 dollars a night to stay here, would definitely not recommend making the same mistake. read more

This hotel was way over priced for the facility itself which was old, musty and not clean. I didn't want to spend time in the room or hotel. I would have expect much more for what I paid which was about $200 for the night. I would give it a one star, but the staff was friendly, the room itself was clean - though very worn- , and the bed was surprisingly comfortable. I also expected a refrig. In the room, but there was not. Another hotel in the area (might have been the Hilton or Marriott) was full and recommended the Hotel Ithaca, but I think a Best Western would have been a much better choice. read more

This hotel is very conveniently located to downtown Ithaca, the Commons, etc. Hoever, it is currently undergoing a major renovation which has resulted in no on-site parking. I was not made aware of this when I booked my room directly on their website. I had stayed here several times in the past, when it was a Holiday Inn, and at that time there was a huge lot for parking on the property. When I checked in, I was told that I could use the parking garage across the street, which costs $1 per hour/$7 per day, or I could look for parking on the street, which I guess is free in Ithaca. Who wants to park on the street, and spend all that time driving around looking for an available space. So the clerk told me I was upgraded to the tower, to a "renovated" room. There was no carpet, just a linoleum floor. The bathroom was hardly renovated. The bathroom floor was filthy. I will not stay at this hotel again. Ever. read more

Had a fine time with a rehearsal dinner and a terrible time with a hotel block here. We signed a contract for 15 rooms, but due to errors at the front desk after 3 rooms were booked our guests were told the block was full. We realized this after the hold on rooms had ended and were basically told the hotel was now booked so there was basically nothing they could do. After multiple calls, emails, and some in person appearances we got them to agree to cover a shuttle for some of our displaced guests to the rehearsal dinner. Almost a week went by without any update and we again had to make multiple attempts to contact them to get details. On the day of our rehearsal dinner the shuttle picked up guests at 2 other hotels, but then did not return to take them back after the dinner. The front desk did not know anything about the shuttle so we quickly arranged rides for our guests instead of trying to deal with Hotel Ithaca anymore. One of our guests that did get a room at Hotel Ithaca arrived around 4 or 4:15pm and then had to wait in the lobby almost an hour for his room to be ready. The food and contact for the dinner itself was quite good (they even gave us a small break on cost), but the problems and lack of response over the hotel block turned out to be the most stressful part of wedding planning, so I cannot recommend the hotel. read more

Worst hotel experience ever. Had reserved a room with 2 queen beds with a cot. Went to check in only to be told we don't have your room available and there is not a single room left except for one room with a double bed. Employee offered to give us a cot with that room. There was no way my family of 5 was fitting in that room so had to have my husband and son go to another hotel while 3 of us went to the room available . This room was the smallest room with the smallest double bed I have ever seen. The room wreaked of smoke. All 3 of us have asthma and had problems breathing from the minute we walked in. The employee was not remotely sympathetic or cared that not only did we not have a room but the room he offered us originally for a family of 5 was unfit for a single person. The Ivy League championship was held in Ithaca this weekend which is why there were very few hotels rooms available and certainly no hotels with decent rooms. I will never stay in Hotel Ithaca and will tell everyone I know never to stay there. Hotel Ithaca-you should learn about space management and hospitality skills. What a horrible experience . Luckily after many calls I found a hotel with one last room available 1000% better than this horrible place. I want to give this hotel negative stars but unable to post without assigning stars. read more
