Was in from out of town and dropped in here last minute with two friends. We sat inside initially at the bar and then were seated at a formal table. Great drinks atmosphere. Drinks were excellent. Manager has a really bad attitude problem. The menu does not note that they put mayonnaise on all their sandwiches. This is a big problem because it is an allergen and adds a significant amount of calories to the dish. When I told the manager this, he had a really bad attitude about it and tried to make me feel like it was my fault. He also refused to take it off the bill when I told him I didn't want it. Very unprofessional. Manger needs to learn about hospitality or shouldn't be in this business if he does not know how to properly treat customers. I have always enjoyed my dining experiences at any of the Hillstone Restaurant Group establishments. The Honor Bar in Highland Park Village in Dallas is as exceptional compared to my previous superb Hillstone experiences in California. Over the last several years, I make it a point to have a meal here when I'm in the Dallas area. The interior is quaint, cozy, warm, and inviting as the front of the house staff. I typically have their Crab Cake Salad, which is amazing. Interactions with their wait staff have all been filled with cheer and warmth. With how much hype Honor Bar gets on social media and the long wait to get a table for lunch (30-45mins), I was expecting something amazing... it didn't live up to the hype. The best I tasted from the things we ordered was the Crab Cake Salad. The crab meat was really good. It's like they took crab legs, shredded it up, and served it to you. Lots of flavors. The next best item was the Chilled Jumbo Shrimp. These things are HUGE! If you're a fan of shrimp cocktails, you will like this. The other two items: Ahi Tuna Tartare and Burrata on Toast was average, if that. The Ahi Tuna dish did not impress me at all. I can go to a local poke place and get the same tuna chunks for half the price. Also, there's too much olive oil on the avocado. I simply did not like the Burrata dish... too much cheese, oil, and butter... just too much. All of the grease ends up getting stuck in your throat and it ruins the rest of the meal. This was also my first experience at a restaurant in the Hillstone group, which I was especially excited about since I've only ever heard great things. Honor Bar is located in Highland Park Village, which makes for a convenient and upscale dining experience. Complimentary valet is available -- a big perk given how crowded the parking lot usually gets. The area is surrounded by high-end shops, perfect for browsing or window shopping before or after your meal. To drink, I ordered the Jack Rabbit. Tequila is always my go-to spirit, and this cocktail came recommended by our server. The combination of tequila, Campari, and mint was refreshing and well-balanced -- a great drink to sip on while enjoying dinner. For my entrée, I went with Ding's Crispy Chicken Sandwich. I don't usually order sandwiches at restaurants, but this one has a reputation online. Served cut into thirds, it's generously stacked with crispy chicken, Swiss cheese, tomatoes, and a slaw. The slaw, paired with what seemed like a honey mustard sauce, added just the right flavor contrast. The menu describes the slaw as spicy, though I didn't find it spicy at all. Note that parking is very tight and congested in Highland Park Village so give yourself plenty of time to park and then head over. My friend was raving over The Crush which has smashed grapes inside the cocktail and it definitely did not disappoint. We started with the Deviled Eggs which clearly is a favorite at this restaurant since we saw pretty much every table around us ordering them, and yes they were very good. I was debating on what to get as my entree and ultimately ended up with the Ahi Tuna Poke which was not only presented beautifully but was made to perfection. Our server was very attentive and our water glasses were always full as well. The inside of the restaurant is not super big but they also have a bar area and patio seating. The waitress told me that I couldn't feed my baby. Yup that's right. My infant, 9 month old. It was 105 degrees & my baby was extremely hot. So my sister and I decided to come here for a drink and appetizers. I pulled out a small container to feed my hungry baby and the waitress told me I wasn't allowed. To my surprise, when I asked for the manager, she told me the same thing & if we continued to feed my baby, they would ask us to leave. The absolute snootiest hostess ever. We had a reservation @ 6:15 pm. We called the restaurant while in route and explained that traffic was a challenge and that we should be there by 6:30 pm. When we arrived at 6:30 pm she said, "oh sorry, we have a 10 minute grace period." We watched them offer people their choice of empty tables, but she told us we couldn't be seated because there were reservations for people that hadn't arrived yet. We asked about an empty table near the door that had just been offered to another person ( one of 3) and she said it was reserved. I asked her if all the empty tables were reserved and she said, "we don't reserve specific tables." Hmmm? Sounds like we were being discriminated against or being punished for being 5 minutes late. Believe me, it's not worth it. Truly, is snootiness ever a value add? I had a bad experience with service the last time I was here and reported it to the manager. We happily walked across the street to Cafe Pacific where we were welcomed for dinner and had a wonderful meal and dining experience. We have reservations there for Friday, September 18th, as well. Cafe Pacific for the win. Oh and Honor Bar has a note on the door that says "Proper attire required " while we observed people in very casual work out clothes having dinner. You might want to call ahead for clarification regarding your attire - just saying. Do not recommend, The Honor Bar. I've been a regular at Honor Bar for the past two years, usually visiting one or two Saturdays a month. I've always enjoyed the food, atmosphere, and hospitality, which is why this experience was so disappointing. My girlfriend and I arrived first for what would become a party of four. The patio was almost completely empty, so I asked if we could start eating while our friends finished shopping and then move when they arrived. We were told that would be no problem. About 15 minutes later, just as our food came out, our friends arrived. We asked to move as previously discussed, but after multiple trips to the manager, we were told no. The only options were for our friends to sit somewhere else or for us to finish our meals before moving. I even offered to order two additional entrées for them, and the answer was still no. The most frustrating part wasn't even the decision--it was the complete lack of hospitality. The manager, Emily, refused to speak with me directly, refused to explain the reasoning, and refused every reasonable solution despite plenty of available seating. I've never had an experience like this at Honor Bar, and it's clear to me that the issue wasn't the staff or the restaurant--it was the management in this instance. Based on my experience, Emily either needs significant retraining in customer service and hospitality or should not be in a guest-facing leadership role. One manager shouldn't be able to undo years of goodwill with loyal customers. Unfortunately, unless management addresses this, we won't be returning. read more

I recently had lunch at Honor Bar and, unfortunately, my experience was disappointing. We spent a considerable amount of money dining there, and everything was fine until we asked for a small cup of water for our 25 lb mini Goldendoodle, who was quietly and well-behaved beside us. First, our waitress told us she "didn't have any cups," even though they clearly had to-go cups available. That response felt dishonest. We then asked to speak with the manager to better understand the policy. She said she didn't know the reason and needed to call the ownership company. When she returned, she still had no explanation and simply said she could not provide water for our dog. It was around 80 degrees outside. It is not reasonable to let a dog sit in that heat without water. Providing a small cup of water is a basic act of courtesy. This should not require calling upper management, and it certainly should not be denied without explanation. We understand that restaurants may have policies regarding pets. However, the lack of transparency, empathy, and common sense in this situation was very disappointing -- especially at this price point. Hospitality includes basic decency. Instead, the lack of consistency made the situation feel chaotic, and the delivery felt dismissive toward customers. For context, we came in with a high-profile model, an actor, and a CEO. I'm also the Creative Director for a major hospitality group with restaurants in LA, New York, and Miami, and we regularly host high-profile guests. Our teams are trained to communicate clearly, stay consistent, and handle every guest with professionalism, which is a big reason our ratings are significantly stronger. This interaction felt below the standard a well-run venue should accept. I hope the GM takes this seriously and coaches the front door staff accordingly. We ultimately chose to go to another restaurant in Highland Park, where we were instantly recognized and accommodated with the level of professionalism you would expect. I think this is only my second Yelp review ever, but this trainwreck deserved it. If I could leave fewer than one star, I absolutely would. The single pity star goes to the food, which was decent--but completely overshadowed by what might be the worst customer service experience of my entire life. After her second attempt to whisk it away, he finally just gave up and said, "Sure, you can take my plate," purely out of exhaustion. At that point, I decided to adopt a full "screw it" mindset. My bonus daughter and I are obsessed with the Dings crispy sandwich from White House Tavern in Aspen and they have the same sandwich here! It's soooo good!! The wait was over 2 hours so we ended up eating at the bar! It was national margarita day so we had to try their margaritas and omg they were so good! My only complaint was the bartender ID' my bonus daughter and when I asked if she needed mine, she said, No if you look over 40, we don't need it." Geeze. That hurt. This place has the worst service ever I've been here already multiple times and every time I've been on a phone call or FaceTime with my mom that is at a different time zone to say good night to her. They come and say that they do not allow phone calls at the restaurant. This is a lie nowhere on their website or online.
