I've been shopping at this Home Depot since they've originally opened. I've never had any problems with this store. The only issues that I've ever faced with customers who are very rude and inconsiderate to other shoppers and the staff. I love coming here over the Port Chester or the Norwalk stores because this one has more options available. Yes, the staff can be a little slow. However, they are always doing the best and are super friendly!!! Anytime I need help I can always find an available worker to help me out. I see that the other reviews on here criticize workers , however I don't believe that these are true and some of the "rude customers." Their garden section has amazing options, and they have everything from simple flowers two large landscaping items. This is a great place to find everything that you need . read more

This was really ridiculous - the cashier at customer service was chatting with a female (he had zero game) and the line was 11 deep! He brought me to the locker - it opens - IT IS EMPTY! I was at Home Depot trying to pickup my pre-paid order for ONE HOUR! It's preposterous - terrible workers and zero customer service - more like customer torture. I'll just get it myself next time - the Stamford Home Depot customer service has zero accountability and zero customer service skills. Three different people couldn't open the locker. Get this group some training please. I stood waiting while I continued to be ignored. One woman finally showed up with my ceiling fan and did apologize. Make her the manager and teach the rest of the staff to be like her. People ask why I drive all the way to Norwalk instead of going to Stamford right down the road. This is exactly why. I love that there is a Home Depot in Stamford and I no longer have to make the trip up to Norwalk. It's your basic Home Depot. You know what you're looking for and 99% of the time, they have it. I especially love the garden section and they're always fully stocked until the end of the summer season. The one issue I have with Home Depot (and it isn't just this location) is the lack of staff/help around the store. I often find myself walking down each aisle until I find someone to help me get something from the highest shelf (because customers aren't allowed to use the yellow ladders). I have bought wood, a faucet, plants, cleaning supplies (great place to stock up when grocery stores are limited), tarp, light bulbs, paint...you name it, here. I really do love Home Depot but wish getting help was a little easier. read more

Please please please save yourself the trouble and avoid this location at all cost! Today, an associate had me wait (literally asked me to walk around the garden center for 40 minutes or run an errand then return when their system was updated) to place an order that they themselves volunteered to place online, only to have a manager come out once the system updated and say they weren't going to place the order after all because I should just pick the product up somewhere else. Why waste someone's time like that? We've also recently had prices given by them for a product that were quoted in store, then were sent a quote 10x higher after we made the initial payment! The manager then basically told us 'our employee was just wrong and wasn't trained, so they weren't able to give you accurate information when you were here.' We've placed orders for pickup only to arrive to see products with holes in the side and be given grief when asked to receive a product in good condition. read more

When you are that big I guess you don't care too much about customers opinions. But the customers do think and do care. The Home Depot could be the perfect store for homeowners and business owners but when you don't get personal service and when you need to chase employees just to be able to help you with something that brings down the value of the store. Have been coming to this location for it's the closest to my home. Went to get some dimmers and noticed they had a rug sale at a tent in their parking lot. We went to take a look. After about 15 minutes a man who did not have any identifiers as a Home Depot employee aka no orange smock or ID, started to scream at us you can't look at rugs like this. We had been folding the rugs in half so we may see the ones underneath. Without warning he started to put them back punching my hand in the pile. Never get a delivery or flooring from Home Depot ever again. The delivery driver was instructed to pull into the first driveway which is the top driver (upper driveway), made that crystal clear. He didn't ring the door bell or anything and they put it in the lower driveway which is the basement. We have then on camera just throwing some of the items to the muddy ground. read more

This review is for my purchases during the covid pandemic. Just when I thought things were about to turn around, my fridge suddenly quit - main compartment, freezer, shut off, no signs of life. Frantically, I went online to try and order a small portable chest freezer - completely sold out. Every brand. Out of stock. Nothing available within 100 miles. Since we were being instructed to social distance, I tried to avoid going to the store. Impossible to do, since online orders were unavailable & the website said to check the store inventory - but you couldn't check it online & forget about trying to call in - no luck there either. So to the store we went, mask on, etc. Once inside the store it was obvious that there was no chance of getting a small freezer, so we had to buy two mini fridges and haul them away ourselves. The staff was very pleasant & helpful! Five stars for workers at Home Depot ! I only wish the website functioned as well - why they cannot maintain an updated online inventory is a mystery. The grocery stores were able to. The inability to check Home Depot's inventory remotely left me no choice - had to go to the store or risk losing all the food - which was hard enough to get after stores placed limits of "one per customer" for certain items. Thankfully, this all happened as the state was in the phase of reopening businesses as the infection rate was no longer what it was earlier. Still, you'd think large corporate businesses like Home Depot would have had a better response - especially for essential items like freezers. Update - Purchased a new refrigerator online from Home Depot. Agreed to the installation only to discover they cannot connect the ice maker. Glad they told me before the fridge arrived - would have preferred a pop-up alert while ordering. The Home Depot saleswoman was highly professional & helpful. She explained that they cannot connect a plumbing line from the floor to the model on sale. Too bad. read more

Good location and nice people on the floor but terrible, terrible customer service! They have a real attitude. There was nobody in line and yet she said "where are you going? that's an exit, you need to go around". Then when i question if i can order an item for will call i got "just because it's on display does not mean we sell it". I said that i don't need it today and willing to wait while it's delivered. She said "maybe we don't sell it at all". I was looking to buy a shower enclosure consisting of three parts. They had two out of three in stock so they said i can't order it for will call, because i have to get two from the floor. Then turned out they actually had the third part in stock but because the quantity was low (it was two) they can't put the order in. Such a mess. Wasted half an hour and left with nothing. Went to norwalk and did everything in 5 minutes. Whoever is in customer service in stamford shouldn't work with customers. read more

This location has fallen apart. Used to be clean and organized but now I drive out of my way to avoid this store. Inventory is never accurate, lumber is wet/warped and piles of orders/inventory sit in the aisles and parking lot. This store is too close to the Lowes in Norwalk to keep those standards. read more

Buyer Beware!!! Save yourself a nightmare ordering kitchen cabinets from HD Stamford. I ordered $20K of cabinets and I am painfully regretting it. First, the kitchen design department (KDD) is incompetent!!! They don't answer the phone and they don't man their station. Odette, in particular, the most experienced designer (who supervises the others), is constantly MIA from her post. Even the store managers can't find track her down when she's on the clock. Second, HD's top-of-the-line Decora cabinets are horrible!! . . . poorest quality I have ever seen EVER! I have cabinet doors that are warped and doors with rough top-coat finishes as if they missed the final stage of finishing or were finished with a machine full of debris. Regardless, they should not have passed quality control and should not have ended up in my kitchen. Third, beware that the KDD is very controlling of your kitchen specs and details of your order but in the end will be accountable for nothing. They cover themselves by holding up your order until you (the cutomer) signs a paper taking full responsiblity for every item (known and unknown) in KDD's order. Bottom line, this was too important a purchase to trust to HD Stamford. I'm stuck with over $2K worth of leftover trim that KDD insisted I needed but refused to explain. I have tons of unresolved issues including needing replacement doors and crown molding. All my crown came with a crack down the middle. HD refused to give me a credit for the damaged merchandise and insisted I wait 8 weeks for replacements. I have zero confidence in the kitchen design department of Stamford's HD and hope you don't make the same mistake I did. read more

This used to be a pretty nice store but it's become a dirty, disorganized mess-- an awful place to have to walk into. But ordering online to pick up is not a viable alternative because online inventory isn't real time-- order what the website says is in stock, find out after putting through the charge on your credit card: sorry, we don't have that--Infuriating and inexcusable with 2022 available tech. I placed an order for delivery- delivery was available starting Tuesday & I scheduled for Thursday. Got my confirmation & a confirmation email the night before. Day of delivery they called to tell me that delivery wasn't going to be available for another week. (They have the product & say it needs to be on a flatbed) Big companies like this should know how to schedule & review- shame on them. If you make plans to complete a project you cannot rely on them to deliver in a timely manner. This has always been the problem with them and every time I've tried giving them another chance it only screws up any project that I am currently doing. read more

We have gone here several times since moving to the area. Was completely blown away by the help we received today by the staff at Home Depot. Especially during the current corona virus crisis. We were able to get assistance about the type of lawn mower and weed wacker to purchase. We did not get upsold anything (which happens in these types of stores) and were actually advised to buy some of the cheaper models. Garden Dept only. Horrible customer service. Took 15 minutes to page a sales person from cashier with major attitude. Asked to get a small tree transplanted in one of their bigger pots which I paid for. Sales guy said he would need to get a manager that took another 15 minutes. That guy wasn't a mgr waited another 15 minutes finally a mgr said they could help me do it myself with a sales guy if I bought some soil which I did. The sales guy started to help but then left to help another customer for 10 minutes who came way after I was there. Finally one hour later left the store with my trees. Ordered custom Levelor blackout blinds with Theresa in the home decor department. Pricing was 20% less expensive than the local independent window treatment place. Theresa was a delight to work with and clearly cares about her customers. Shipping time was about what one would expect in these challenging times. Installation was completed in a timely fashion and we are very happy(and sleeping so much better)with the end result. Would definitely recommend. read more

I went in to get a dryer. They did not have the one I wanted at the Stamford location. When I asked if they could check availability in Norwalk the woman at the counter said no. While most of their products are fine, I had a nightmare of an experience trying to get a DeWalt router fixed. The repair shop could not be any worse. It took over three months before I got my router back, and when I did it was in worse shape than it was when I dropped it off. It took them a month to get back to me to tell me that they needed a cord, even though I had included a cord. I bought one because I couldn't prove that I had left one with them, and then dropped it off at the Home Depot. They lost that one too. In the end, their fixer-upper people said that it would cost $260 to repair a $195 router. I declined of course and when I went to get my router it was missing the cord and several parts were broken. Neither Home Depot nor their subcontractor would except the blame for what happened. They did give me my $35 deposit back but having lost use of a router for three months plus it's just too much. I also couldn't believe it when the manager said "we got you a new cord, because that's what we do for our customers." I'll stick to the local Acme/mom and pop store. I do wish there was a Lowe's nearby. read more

I waited for 1/2 hour for a single cut to a piece of wood today. When the person finally arrived they were unapologetic and looked aggravated. Apparently at Home Depot in Stamford only one person knows how to operate the cutting machine and if they are in lunch you have to wait and hope it isn't a multi-course meal. As I waited my phone died... resulting in a missed call from Home Depot delivery who were trying to deliver two expensive purchased items to the wrong address. This is currently resulting in the need to reschedule the delivery far into the future. (If they ever call me back.) I wish there were minus-stars. Ugh. read more

By far the worst Home Depot with staff that are just incompetent. Was helped by Ray in the paint dept. - this man either cannot retain information or is color blind because he literally gave me two cans of the same paint with two diff labels. I only found this out AFTER I got home and painted one wall and was ready to start another. So I drove BACK to Home Depot and asked to talk to a manager which I was told he was not there. Then came out Jesus who was the "assistant manager" and informed me that "I can go and get the paint". When I told him about the inconvenience this puts on me for time considering that his staff messed up, I didn't even get an apology - He looked more bothered I was even wasting his time! So then comes Manny- another person in charge (maybe store manager) that really should undergo some customer service training. Manny was another one that seemed bothered he was working that weekend and offered me half off on my new can of paint - no apology, nothing. So off to the paint department to see Ray is still working on his shift. I tell Ray "hi you gave me two same colors" - the response I get? "oh that must have been my twin brother". Really? Own it. I've read wonderful reviews about the General Manager of this Home Depot. He should really consider restaffing because it does nothing for this HD. I rather drive an extra 10 miles to Port Chester where the people actually are nice and enjoy helping the customers who help them get a paycheck every week. read more

Lashawn, the customer service rep, told us we should look it up online at home. We found her to be rude and unhelpful with an attitude. I waited 10 minutes for someone to cut the lumber that I was trying to buy. I went to customer service to ask when he would get there. After the lady at the register finished her candy crush game making me wait a good 2 minutes she proceeded to tell me "wait for him to come back or you can just leave." I waited another 5 minutes and then left. Many of the staff walked by me and none of them could remember the code to use the machine. read more

My wife and I went to Home Depot for countertops. We spent a lot of money and expected a smooth process and looked forward to having our countertops put in. The company they use is Stone Works in Newburgh NY This company proved to be a nightmare. They came out and did templates and assured us that all is good and they would be back in 2 weeks to install the countertops. When they came back all was not good. They ripped all the existing countertops off then informed us that the cabinets were not level... they left our kitchen destroyed with no water and no cooktop for one week after assuring us all was good. When they finally came back to install the countertops, they put them on. Afterwards my wife noticed that they had caused damage to our floor cracked our floor after moving the refrigerator several times. We went back to Home Depot and filed an insurance claim, we called Stone works and was immediately dismissed by the office manager... she stated to me ' so what do you want' very rude and condescending. We told her we should be compensated for the damage... I was told a day later that they would give us 1hundred dollars. This was an insult inappropriate... certainly making this right was not something they were in any way concerned about as per their response. Now our floor is cracked , and Stone Works response was completely dismissive .... we will never do another project with Home Depot if this is an example of the companies they work with. Today I needed a long oak hard rail cut in half at the saw, I asked the saw guy if he would cut it, he was walking at a snail's pace pushing a cart of returned items, he said no, not until after he reshelved all the items in the cart. I asked can you not make one cut and then continue with your re-shelving process. He screamed No. At the snails pace he was going I figured he would be about one hour. So I cut it with a hand saw. Well you have to give them one star there's no such thing as a zero star or a half a star for that matter. Went to get a sink at Home Depot you have to order it online which they did for me at the customer service center. Told them I had a price match and they said oh you have to do that when you pick it up. So when I pick it up they won't price-match says I didn't order exactly the same model ... uh yes I did says so right on your paper work ... but you didn't ... yes I did...okay forget it I don't need this kind of hassle on Labor Day weekend. Get home the sink is in like 15 pieces. Bring it back to the store they do a refund in order to purchase it for me again. The prices have gone up and they can't do anything about that.
