I was looking for some storage totes and decided to stop at this Home Depot to check out their prices, sizes, colors, etc. When I walked into the store, I could not easily tell where the totes were, so I asked one of the staff members and right away, he gave me the aisle number where I could find the totes. Their selection of the totes is really good, ranging from small to large, from clear to opaque. Nice customer service at this store. read more

HD is a convenience: most of the time. Checking out in the morning is a joke. No registers open except 1 contractor and self checkouts. They have just about everything and are close by, so for me, it's just convenient. Check lumber sizes. I don't know if the standard has changed but dimensional lumber there is 1/4 inch smaller, dk a 1x12 usually 11 1/2 inches is 11 1/4. If you ask a question and someone doesn't know what the answer, they'll find you an answer before you leave. This store is very clean and very well organized. Being a home owner this place is like my second home. I'm always in here and always have a good experience. The lot is huge and easy to get a parking spot. Nine times out of ten there's someone at the door greeting people and someone always says hello and offers assistance before being asked. I get paint a lot and the young lady who is usually there is very friendly and my Paint is done quickly. It's fairly easy to find things in there and if not someone will Help you find it. Pricewise they seem to be comparable to other places such a lowes. I've lost my cell phone there before and they were so great helping me find it. The clerk retraced my steps with me and kept calling it for me. That's above and beyond the call of duty. It's always clean in there and clutter free which makes it easy to shop. Also they have self checkout which I love. Working in retail I deal with people all day so it's nice to just check out on my own and not have to talk to anyone. I haven't used it since my Dad is a builder but they also can connect you with contractors and whatnot if you need some work done. I've been shopping this store for all my home needs for the last 15 years. I have recently realized the lack of professional help. Went in on 5/2/23 abut 6:45 and the store was not busy at all. When I looked up an item online it stated that this store had 23 of them. As I walked around and found similar item but larger container I wanted to ask an employee. I noticed two young girls at 1 register chatting away. They looked up the item and told me to check the isle again. When I went back she asked me "Can I help you?" Mind you I just walked away maybe 3 minutes and there is hardly anyone in the store. Frustrated I proceeded to the self check out and found 3 employees chatting. So I asked one of them and they were going to get someone to help me. I proceeded back to the area which the item should be and waited. 20 minutes went by and nobody came. One of my favorite stores ever. I love projects and so does my friend so we are always at this store getting the things that we need. The people are incredibly helpful and they really stand behind their products. I have gotten so many ideas from workers at this store. They really seemed to know what they are talking about. I have had issues with some items at that were very quickly and kindly dealt with. I have bought all of my kitchen cabinets for 2 houses there and that was actually a fun experience although I thought it would be tedious. I think the bottom line is that the people who work there really care about their work and that shows in the way they treat their customers. read more

I am absolutely baffled at the customer support I received today. An employee literally talked back and swore to me in my face! As my fiance and I bring in our dolly full of mulch into the garden center to cash out, the "cart" attendant has carts blocking the entrance. I push the carts about 5 feet in front of me and he says (as he's standing by) "Sir. The carts are actually supposed to be there" I say "Well, I was moving them so we can cash out. You can't block the entrance." He says nothing, walks away for a second and then returns. Immediately as we cash out and walk pass him standing by the garden exit he says "Yup. The carts are supposed to be there." This man thought he could talk back to myself, and my fiance and get away with it. I wasn't going to let that happen. I immediately walk back and say "Excuse me, did you just talk back to me? I'm the customer. Now I'm going to go grab your manager and see what you have to say to him." He follows up with "Go right ahead" I grabbed the manager and told him what happened. He said he'd talk to the employee and take appropriate action. I was fine with that and walked back out to the parking lot (passing the cart attendant yet again but this time he said nothing). As I go and load the mulch into the car, the has the NERVE to yell something across the parking lot to us. I was like "YEAH, I SEE YOU OVER THERE" or something of the sort. He seriously wanted to fight me for pushing the cart line in order to get into the store. I immediately walked back into the store and waited for the manager to come back to the service desk. As i'm waiting, the cart attendant comes into the store and gets all up in my face. The service desk employee needed to tell him to relax and take a break. I immediately walk towards the manager and tell him that the man continued to yell at us in the parking lot. He said "I'm going to fire him" and took the cart attendant to his office. I am hoping that this guy no longer is employed by Home Depot after today. Talking back to customers isn't acceptable. Especially when they did nothing wrong. The fact that this man decided to not only talk back to us once, but 3 times in an aggressive manner means we won't be returning to this home depot at all. read more

I hate that I love this place. What bothers me the most is you're experience is based on what staff member is helping you. From my experience 50% of them are bothered by questions. I'm here 3 times a week. It's common practice for an entire department to go on break simultaneously. Yes an entire department gone on break together...smoking eating and laughing while you're attempting to hunt a certain type of rare screw. When they go to put it in the computer it comes up .99. After 30 minutes of the sales associate trying to fix the price he tells me if I want it for that price I needed to go to Plymouth to pick it up. Ordered a 12" shelf online and it stated Smithfield had 3 in stock and would text me once Rady. 10 minutes later, I get a text it's ready for pickup. I go to the store, first in line at the online pickup line. Wait 5 minutes while 2 employees behind the counter chit chat. Finally, I get "can I help you", I give them my online order number and they get the shelf and hand it to me. I immediately tell them it's a 10" wide shelf and I ordered a 12" wide. The associate at first disagrees with me. Then, after double checking calls for help. Long story short, they tell me none in stock but they have them in Providence. I ask them to order one, but get deterred from doing it. Who pays for my time and gas? I'm shopping at Lowes in the future. read more

I love home improvement stores. No other store is the definition of my childhood. I usually go to Lowe's but I decided that this time I would try this Home Depot it since I was in the plaza. I just needed some moving supplies. The store is massive and had some pretty great deals. I was able to locate the moving boxes fairly quickly without any help. Then I began to wander the store. Perhaps I'll paint my ceiling or change up my countertop. But I was constantly followed through the store by Home Depot employees. It was pretty blatant they were watching me. I wasn't even allowed to checkout my own items at self checkout. Now was it because I was a woman or was it because I'm brown? I don't appreciate harassment of any kind. I used to work retail and I knew exactly what was happening. I gave the 2 stars because the prices weren't that bad and the sales were great. Would I come here again? Probably not. I'll stick to Lowe's or the Home Depot in Providence. read more

DO NOT buy an exterior door from Home Depot. They recommended FEATHER RIVER doors to us. After spending $3,600 on a front exterior door the decorative half panel glass insert rattles when opened and closed. The problem began upon installation and ten months later we are told by Home Depot that FEATHER RIVER doesn't want to deal with problem anymore. Home Depot has no authority to make them fix the problem. We have been told everything from we are out of warranty to we are "hearing things". No initiative to figure out what is wrong. Well I had Kevin from Home Depot give me a price on a roof and with that job he also agreed to fix a down spout and when he used my neighbors driveway he said oh I'll give them a 50$ gift card!! We had the roof done almost a year ago and with weeks of talking to managers at the Johnston HD and with promises they stopped answering me and completely have not responded to the agreement any longer!! Horrible customer service. We were quoted an install price for backsplash in store (we brought the exact measurements with us to be sure of cost). My husband took the morning off of work for someone to come measure the kitchen as this is standard protocol. We received a phone call 2 days later stating the install was now going to be $1500....the measurements never changed ! Absolutely ridiculous and misleading. Total waste of time.We called the store and spoke to a manager and he rudely only offered to refund a $35 measuring fee. an elderly family member ordered a table online to have shipped to store she received an email that it was on its way in on the email it said it was available she sent the email to me I checked the tracking and it said it was at the store I went to the store and they said it won't be available till the fifth it was there but it wasn't available I think the email needs to be more clear saying when it's available when it to when it's actually available it was a wasted trip. read more

I went in today to buy some house plants, I do not have a green thumb and needed some help on which plants would be the best for a plant killer like myself. Jen (who I later found out is a store manager) came to my rescue. She pointed out all the plants that would be hard for me to kill and all the ones to avoid until I mastered the easy ones. When it came time to picking out pots my head was spinning, what size? Drain? No drain? Which soil? Well Jen came back helped me pick out pots, then decided to just repot them for me on the spot in the store!! Teaching me what to do myself so next time I'm ready to repot some plants I'll know what to do!! She then pushed my carriage to the check out (I had my son in a stroller) and then walked my carriage all the way to my suv and loaded the plants in!!! I have never experienced such great customer service at Home Depot or anywhere else for that matter, she is a great employee and person because she def went above and beyond the scope of her job duties I'm sure!!!! With so many Home Depots around it's easy to go to any of them, but after my trip to the Smithfield one today I will only be stopping by this one and asking for Jen :) read more

A year ago I had one of the employees spend at least 20 minutes convincing me to buy a Ridgid drill/driver instead of the DeWalt drill I had in hand. The reason he said was that "in practice" their lifetime service plan typically meant they would just swap out a defective unit. My Ridgid drill died in the middle of a big bathroom project (tons of $$ spent at this HD). Went there today. Needless to say, the only warranty" the would give was to send it out for repair. When I asked how I could complete my project, "Mike" in tools suggested I buy a new drill and then return it when done. Not an option for me as it's not my style.. They are correct on the letter of the warranty ( I reread it ), but their implied "latitude" doesn't exist or "Mike" didn't want to exercise it for me. I normally like this HD...today I am just a dissatisfied customer. because of the way it was handled. No more Ridgid for me either ... My last DeWalt lasted 15 yrs (before I got tired of the buying NiCad batteries)... not the 1 yr this Ridgid did... read more
