Our contractor directed us to Home Depot for replacement windows. I met with Julia who was patient, professional, and delightful. We needed 9 windows for our new house. After reviewing the measurements, 6 would be custom. After going through each windows, our Grand total was just under $4k. I was delighted. When I heard custom, I was scared because my parents had a custom window and it was almost $5k for one window ( total cost, including installation ). She explained it would be about 3 weeks, but it might be longer depending on the manufacturer. They arrived in three weeks. She got me signed up for a home depot credit card with no interest for the first 24 months ( or 12 months, I forget ). The windows arrived and were delivered to our home/ job site. Don't buy paint here. Honestly, don't even bother. The paint department at Home Depot is unbelievably bad. I brought the same paint back six times to be corrected. Six. Not once was I offered a refund or even a discount for the hours I wasted going back and forth. Over the phone, I was told I could get a refund if I came back in. So I drove back again -- only to be told in person that it wasn't refundable after all. I lost the only free weekend I had to paint because I spent five hours dealing with their mistakes. And no -- I was not being nit-picky. They gave me a sample with the wrong color mixed to begin with. Every time I showed them the mismatch (even on the wall), they reassured me it was correct and sent me on my way. It wasn't. Customer service didn't care. Larry made it very clear I wouldn't be refunded for my time and that I wasn't going to get the color I originally asked for. The only reason I received any real help at all was because a Behr rep happened to be standing at the counter. In the end, I had to compromise on the paint color after hours of back-and-forth and zero accountability from the store. No compensation. No ownership. Just shrugs. Home Depot may be close to me, but I will gladly drive farther to avoid a store that prioritizes quotas over customer service. Lowe's and Sherwin-Williams are practically the same distance -- and worth it. Take your business elsewhere. read more

I was trying to exchange a Rheem water heater bought from Home Depot 2 years and 3 months ago. This water heater has caused my house to flood while I was out of the country. Since there is a damage claim, Rheem told me to show the Replacement Confirmation email and just the label of the old water heater as I need to keep the old one so they can examine it within 90 days. The Home Depot located in Gladstone, MO had my model but didn't want to give me a replacement water heater without the old one returned. I even had the Rheem Claims Department Supervisor talk to them including the HD assistant manager to no avail. Rheem Supervisor was telling them that she can guide them thru the process and other Home Depots had no problems doing this. In the end, Home Depot in Liberty, MO gave me a replacement one except the model they had was a downgrade from my old one. I understand if Home Depot Gladstone was just following rules that they knew. But they didn't even empathize for my situation where I already paid a plumber to install and was with me. None on the customer service area including the assistant manager ever said, they felt sorry for my house getting flooded. Really like this store - well laid out, easy to navigate everything you need to complete a project is grouped in the same place or isle. The customer service during the return process can be a little challenging. Management should remind the service desk employees to assume positive intent during all customer encounters. The people are Ultra friendly and helpful no matter how many times you ask them a different version of your original question, they still help you out. Go in person or don't go at all. Website and phone are horrible. Bought some patio furniture online to pickup at the store near me, an hour later get notified that the item wasn't actually in stock so my order was cancelled. Placed the order at a different location in Gladstone, "Ready for pickup within 2 hours." I call the Home Depot to see if I can rent a pickup truck to take it home. Automated service drops the call twice and pretty sure someone picked up the phone and put it back down to ignore the call... Eventually, I get on the phone with someone only to find out that they aren't sure if they can do a rental today - person I spoke with was rude and unhelpful... didn't really get a yes or no if they even offered that service, just a "no one is working that desk right now, idk maybe come in and someone might be able to get you a rental if we have any available today." I hang up, call U-Haul and have a reservation in 5 min - granted U-Haul's whole system is based around rentals. 3 hours after I place the order, I show up in Gladstone to pick it up. I go to the customer service desk to ask them if my order's ready - it wasn't. One of the five employees standing around doing nothing runs to pull it from the shelves. The one who went to pull the set down I'd just watched launch a cart at full speed across the entrance to the collection point on the way inside, briefly wondered how sturdy my new patio set is. It turned out to be fine. He was really nice, just a kid being a kid at his first job which I can understand. But combined with the employees not doing anything, the order not being ready on time when it takes less than 10 min to pull the item, and the messy nature of the store in general, I have to wonder where the manager was. Just saw one employee that looked over 18, working the paint section. So the kid and another employee help me load the boxes into the truck, which was nice cause they were heavy. Get home, setup the furniture, get a text that my order is ready in Gladstone. "Hmm, probably just the system being behind." Gf and I like the set, need another chair and ottoman for the patio to match, order it online, says it's in stock and can ship to the house in two weeks. Great, don't have to deal with getting a rental again. Place the order. A few hours later, get notified the ottoman is on back order... I guess I get it with Covid's immense impact on supply chain. Today, two days later, I get a reminder that my order is ready for pickup in Gladstone. Call the store to try and let them know that I already picked up the order two days ago. Automated service drops the call 3 times before I get "transferred to someone who can help" who proceeds to pick up the phone and put it back down - ending the call. I'm usually patient with customer service folks, they have a tough job dealing with obnoxious people and dated systems, but I think after this many lapses in service, venting my frustration through a 1-star yelp review feels justified. TLDR; home depot, fix your automated call service, setup a voicemail that employees can send callers to if they're "busy," and tell the Gladstone manager to get off their a**. PS; the patio set looks beautiful but it had a little tar or something on it when we first put it together. came off with some cleaner and a razor blade. probably from the factory and out of your control, but just an fyi. read more

So after purchasing my new house I came to Home Depot, they are so nice and helpful, I have had a lady in the returns line checking me out give me some fudge one of the other lady's made and it was great, Hispanic guy in pluming always helps me out, I cannot remember his name and the manager Adam is very busy but on a few occasions that I needed him he was always ready to help, I love this place and come here all the time GREAT STORE, GREAT PEOPLE!! read more

Went in to Gladstone Home Depot on Monday August 11 and wanted appointment to get kitchen cabinets refaced. Sharon made appointment for August 13 @ 11am for a contractor named Craig to come look at kitchen. Two hours later I get home to a message asking me to call Home Depot at 866460656. I call and they don't have a clue why they called. Two hours later someone calls from 866 number and says she wants to set up appt. I tell her I have one for August 13 and she hangs up. Today August 12 Greg calls and I say " I will see you tomorrow" . He gets angry saying he knows nothing abt apppt, wants to know who set it up and gets angry. I told home to forget it and he says fine and hangs up. I called the store and get the excuse that they got a new system in spring and are working out the bugs.??. read more
