A solid Home Depot! We went to buy some rug padding and gardening supplies, and the staff were very kind in helping us find the items we needed. The padding we bought was a little on the pricier side than we would have liked but no qualms otherwise. We paid for our items right in the garden house via self checkout instead of having to go back inside to do so. Ample parking in the lot shared with Office Depot but the roads leading out to the main road can be confusing.

I sometimes come here just to browse what kind of tools I may be missing. Rockler has everything from tiny dowels to thousands-of-dollar heavy equipment. What I usually come here for is to get hardwood and baltic ply. The hardwood selection here is great and it's reasonably priced. Most of them are S4S or S3S so in the worst case, I can use my table saw to rip the unfinished side. You only pay for what you need so you can have them cut a longer piece and not pay for the reminder! That's amazing. Note that they only cut longer wood to fit in your car. Rockler currently does not offer planing or joining services. The guy over there said they are looking into supporting such services soon but as of today, that's not an option. Rockler also has wood-turning and other general woodworking classes. There's a small classroom inside the store itself. If you need anything woodworking, Rockler is it!

I absolutely love Rockler in Fairfax! I thought I'd try something new and took "Woodworking basics…read morefor women" with Sarah in June 2025. I loved everything about it! I then took 11 classes that I've also loved!! Woodworking basics for women (Sarah), Live Edge Epoxy (David L), Shop Safety Woodworking 101 (Bruce), Cabinet making (Bruce), Make a Cherry Wine Box (David L), Build a Bookcase (Bruce), Shaper Origin (David L), Sign making (David L), Woodburning (Sarah), make and take Christmas Ornament (Sarah), and a make and take cheese board class (Mike) ... I'm sure I'm forgetting a class... all within 6 months!! :) The store is clean and staffed with very knowledgeable, patient, and kind people that all share a love of woodworking. I am thankful for all of those that I have met and all that they have taught me.

Mom and Pop store where everyone knows what you need when you ask them about project or best item…read morefor the job and they take you to where it is in the store. There's a reason it's a local institution and legend. Yes, it's way smaller the the "big box" companies you know of. Brown's doesn't have everything they have because of size. But they have just about everything you truly need and can get it for you if it's not in stock. No wandering around endless isles with no help to help that's helpless. It's a small parking lot. Rarely full because your in and out so quick whether you need help or not. They're not open on Sunday and close a little early which is a major inconvenience for those who work a regular weekday hours. Doubt that's gonna change. But it's worth rearranging your schedule if you need hardware etc.

We got a key safe box to keep a spare key, and it would not open even with the right password. And overall, things here are old style, stone-age things that wouldn't work for a modern family. You would just better off by getting things from Amazon, or go to target. I am glad that they decided to close this store. Please remain closed and replace this one with a better store.

Very disappointing experience with the Home Depot at Fairfax Circle on September 21…read more My husband rented a 20-inch compactor for 24 hours, but it stopped working after about two minutes. We live 30 minutes away, but we contacted Steve at the store before the two-hour return window expired to report the problem. When we arrived at the store, Steve inspected the compactor and confirmed that it was not working properly. He checked the air filter and found that it was clogged, identifying the cause of the problem. This was clearly not something we had done. Despite this, the manager told us that the issue did not matter because we had not purchased the damage insurance. She explained that the rental contract is not voided when equipment fails without insurance and that these situations are handled case-by-case. We were still charged $80 for equipment we could not use, even though the problem was identified immediately and we reported it within the two-hour window. I understand businesses have policies, but when customers pay to rent equipment, there is a reasonable expectation that it will be in working condition. Being told that most customers purchase the insurance was also concerning. What was most disappointing was the lack of effort to resolve the situation or concern about losing us as customers over an $80 charge. I hope Home Depot reviews how its rental equipment is maintained and how situations like this are handled.

Our porch lights have been showing clear signs of wear and tear for a while so I came here to find a couple of lights that would be compatible. Their lighting section is huge and I found something close to what we already have installed. While I was here I also picked-up some bolts for the closet shelves in our master bedroom. I also purchased a small quart of touch-up paint for our baseboards that were part of the areas that we didn't get painted recently. I went to Home Depot twice in the past two days purchasing blinds, but got the wrong size. I needed one more, and Home Depot did not have it, so I tried Lowes because according to their website, they did it. First of all, the parking lot is terrible. Who thought angled parking was a good idea? If you want to get in an accident it is! Second, I walked in. Needing blinds and a bracket to hold up a curtain rod. I asked an associate that I saw for blinds and curtain rods. He said blinds was right there and curtain rods, end of aisle 35. Great. I walked to the aisle for the blinds. What do I see when I walked in, curtains. So I need help. No one in sight. I went to the CUSTOMER SERVICE desk where 3 people are chatting. I said "i need help in blinds, can someone help?" The guy muttered something, I had to say "excuse me" and he said "they are probably with a customer right now, they will be right there." Right where??? How does he know the person is with a customer? I wait for 5 minutes and there was an associate there, cutting blinds for someone. I wait. The lady who helped me, VERY NICE. Hence the reason for 2 stars instead of one. Now it's time to go to check out. I walk to the self service because there are 0 live cashiers. I want to pay cash. I walk to a machine and it's card only so I'm about to walk to another one when a lady walks up behind me yelling "do you need help?" i say no, just want to pay cash and she points in another direction. Meanwhile a guy is using a machine and she yells to him that's broken so don't use that one. Well why is it on then? I finally make myself to a machine. I want to pay cash. I put my $20 in. I go for another $20 and the old as dirty will not read it. The lady yells it has to be straight. I literally look at her, show her the bill and say this cannot be any straighten it's basically been pressed. Why is this not working? She goes look down the bill came out. WTH. Can you all not get machines that are working? are you all that cheap you can't afford to pay people or get updated machines??? I finally get my money in and want to get the heck out. The people that work here, do not get hired based on service because no one wants to help you. They are just there for a check and social hours.
