I had a very frustrating experience with the Covington Home Depot. The store representatives were extremely unprofessional and unhelpful. I even called corporate customer service while at the store, and the corporate representative was also placed on hold for a significant amount of time trying to reach the store. To make matters worse, a store representative marked my pickup order as completed, yet 20 minutes later I am still waiting in the pickup area for my mulch. No one is available to assist, and the gate is chained, preventing access to the product. This level of service is unacceptable. Customers should not have to track down assistance after an order has been marked complete. I hope management addresses these issues so future customers do not experience the same lack of professionalism and support. Worst experience I've ever had in ordering upgrades for our new condo. We've already made two payments on our bathroom vanity and I've been waiting for it to be delivered supposed to be delivered on October 11 this morning. They knocked on our door and delivered it in the middle of our sidewalk, where we can't even walk, we will be leaving for out of town and are not having an installed until the 12th. I guess it's just gonna stay outside in the middle of the front yard. Worst experience EVER trying to purchase a washing machine. Boy howdy they take that $$ but good luck getting any help from ANYONE, including resolution conflict manager, Derek Green. He told my daughter to go to a laundry mat... no joke !! Yep, take your special needs kids and head on over to your local nasty laundry mat and take care of your business, we will reimburse you. SERIOUSLY MR. GREEN !! I would like to see him tell his wife that !! I purchased a washing machine for my daughter, it was to be delivered a week later on 6/23 but the "truck broke down" so they rescheduled her, not for the next delivery but another week out. Then the delivery drivers LIED and said they attempted the delivery on 6/27/25, well the security system and cameras say they never even showed up never mind attempted to deliver - the camera tell the truth !! I then called the Covington store on Saturday and got Erica. She wasn't able to assist because the delivery company does work on weekends... anyone surprised yet ? Now comes Monday 6/30/25 I called corporate AGAIN and got Celest H (at this point no last names will be given) I told Celest she needed to come up with a solution or we would just cancel. After a little more talking which lead to no answers I asked for her supervisor. She put Courtney P on the phone who informed me that Celest CANCELLED THE ORDER - clearly out of spite at this point !! Courtney P spent the next hour trying to get the order back but nope... once it done THATS IT. So now I asked her for a solution and she told me there was nothing she or anyone could do and i needed to start a new order which would be another 10 days to be delivered. The Monday 6/30/25 call with Courtney P was 3 hours and 16 minutes... and I ended up with NOTHING !! No problem Home Depot - while I was on the phone... waiting for Courtney to come up with a solution KNOWING SHE COULDNT, I went online to lowes.com and purchase a washing machine from them and it will be delivered to my daughter on Wednesday 7/2/25. I also spitefully sold all 1575 shares of my Home Depot stock today and purchase Lowes stock with my proceeds. I put my money where my mouth is and it will never be with Home Depot again !! I will go out of my way to never shop at Home Depot again and I have a large extended family so wait till I drop this tea on the family, we will now be a Lowes family !! BIG FAIL ON COMMUNICATION When buying appliances just understand they do not communicate several details about what they charge you for. Dishwasher install kit is required with purchase of dishwasher and a 189.00 dollar install fee. All they do is plug it in if you have an outlet within 4 feet of the dishwasher - BUT- THEY DO NOT CONNECT HARDWIRES AND THEY DO NOT SCHEDULE A PLUMBER TO INSTALL WHICH IS THE OPPOSITE OF WHAT THEY COMMUNICATED IN PERSON AND WITH ALL THERE PAPER WORK AND EMAIL CORRESPONDENCE. So, do not pay the 189.00 install fee for the dishwasher. Instead, pay the delivery fee for 29.00 and schedule someone to install if you do not know how to hardwire. The problem is the lack of leadership and management not teaching there salespeople very simple details that make a difference on your day of delivery. They could also display simple signs, "if you need your dish washer to be hardwired please schedule a plumber or electrician on the day of delivery". Real simple details. Their explanation is that different Home Depot locations will schedule a licensed person to install the item but not here in Covington La. That's perfectly fine as long as they communicate that up front. That way, the customer will know how to plan for an actual install instead of paying $189.00 for a truck driver to plug a plug into the wall. Also, make sure you understand clearly your delivery and removal fees of multiple items. Another area of miscommunication from the salesperson the day of the purchase and the phone conversation when I called to see what type of water supply hose was included in the dishwasher kit. POSITIVES They do have a good selection to pick from in the appliance area. Prices - competitive but overpriced. Salesperson - was very nice and helpful with the limited information/understanding of the department she did have. The managers need to teach their employee's in a 5 minute meeting so that this doesn't happen. Obviously none of this applies to contractors who buy and install in new homes or renovations because they have the understanding and licenses for what needs to be done and what is required by code in specific areas. read more

I just want to complain about service in carpet section. I have been in and could not get anyone to help me with carpet. Asked several employees for someone and they said they would send someone but after thirty minutes no one came so I left. I even one time heard them ask over the loudspeaker system. I usually always leave good comments but this not only happened at Home Depot but at Lowe's the next day. Same scene Unbelievable. It was rude on so many levels. And I had looked for a while before tracking down an employee to get some help. So I wouldn't take up too much of the clerk's time. If you special order from Home Depot, double check the delivery date. Once you place the order, Home Depot passes you on to the vendor and the vendor can't help. It is very difficult to change a delivery date. The store manager at Covington is no help, the customer service desk and applicance salespeople has the wrong information for you to make an informed decision. As Home Depots go, this is one of the best. This location is stocked with all your home needs. Everything from wood to lawnmowers and everything in between can be found here. The staff is friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. One of the best things about this time of year is their Christmas trees. They have a large selection offered for very reasonable prices. We picked a wonderful tree and it was only around 30 bucks. There are workers ready to trim and cut the base of your tree. They will also bail and help you tie it to your car. You can not beat Home Depot for Christmas trees. Thy also have a huge selection of artificial trees and every type of light known to man. This location also has tool and equipment rental if you have a project planned and need some special equipment. The equipment is in the lot and has signs posted with the cost. If you're in the market for a Christmas tree or any home related needs, this is the location for you. read more

Ordered $1200 worth of flooring. It is now 4 days late and no one will tell me anything when I call.

I made an online order of several items to be picked up curbside the next day. I get to the store and drive through the parking lot for about 5 minutes trying to find where the designated spots are for curbside pickup. I can see Handicap and Pro Customer signs very clearly even over large vehicles. I check the app and it says if no curbside spots are available, then pull up by the store next to the pickup location. The only pickup location I can see is for contractor pickup. I park under the overhang, indicate I'm Here on the app, and get a message saying a store associate will bring my items out shortly. Sounds good! Employees are walking in and out of the store assisting with contractor loading. I seem to be in the way, but no one tells me I'm in the wrong place. Another 5-10 minutes and an employee asks if I'm waiting for something. I reply I'm here for curbside pickup. He nods and walks off. The store seems busy so I understand having to wait. Another 15 minutes go by, I see an employee pass close to my car and call out the window, "Excuse me, sir? Sir?" He continues walking inside. I check the app again and it still says an associate will bring my items out shortly. I call the store but it's an automated system and gets me nowhere. I've got my dog in the car and am frustrated. I go inside asking one of the employees standing around self checkout if someone could please bring my items out to me. They send me to the guy at another self checkout lane who had just ignored me. He asks if I called the store when I got there and I said I used the app. He prints my order receipt and says curbside is on the other side of the store and that I need to bring my receipt to the customer service desk. So what's the point of the app telling me an associate is bringing my things out if I in fact have to go inside? So I drive to the other end of the store. Now I can see the small signs indicating curbside pickup. They're posted slightly higher than my car. I don't know how long this is going to take, so I have to bring my dog inside and see a huge line at the customer service desk. I ask another employee walking by if someone could please just bring my items out to me and show her the paperwork. She looks at it and says, "Oh I don't know where your order is. Did you call the store?" I say again that I used the app. She says again she doesn't know where my order is and starts to walk away. Now I'm pretty desperate to get away from this place and just ask if she can point me in the direction of where they're packaged so I can carry them out myself. She goes to someone at the desk and comes back saying I just needed to call the store and that my items would be brought out but there's a lot of people ahead of me waiting. Another employee finally asks where my car is and brings my things out. It's almost like Home Depot offers curbside to give them an edge but then do everything in their power to discourage people from using it. Don't use it, because you'll never know if you're outside waiting for half an hour because they're slammed or because you're in the wrong parking spot and not one of the 15 employees who walked by bothered to tell you or because you used the app but should have called. Let me be clear, I've left maybe 5 bad reviews in my life and don't know if I've ever asked to speak to the manager. I am extremely nice to people in customer service because they already have to deal with the general public all day. However, this whole experience was like a passive refusal to serve the customer. It took 30 minutes and speaking to 5 separate employees to do what arguably is the least amount of work and still get my business: procure items from location A and deliver them 50 feet away to location B. Bottom line: clearly identify parking for curbside pickup in a manner that is visible in a large parking lot. Figure out how you want customers to communicate to the store that they have arrived and are waiting for their purchase to be brought out (phone call, text message, app). Then inform all store employees of the process. Next, train your staff on appropriate responses when a customer indicates they are parked waiting on a particular service but are in the wrong place to receive such service. read more

I had a horrible experience at this Home Depot. 1st off there was only a couple sheets of plywood in multiple sizes neither enough for what I came to the store for. once I loaded up all that was available, 19 sheets of 1/2in plywood while 2 associates working in lumber was standing at the end of the isle talking with each other and neither offered to help. I went to the Pro desk stood there waiting for someone to become free to ask for help with lumber and Alex, not sure if thats his name, who was on the phone looked at me and raised his eyebrows so I thought he was able to help me. I asked if anyone was working in lumber he responds "what do you want Im on the phone". I say nevermind go to the next associate asked the same question and she says I don't know. A third associate comes along and I ask is anyone working in lumber he finally says let me see and finds someone who can help me. Working for a company that spends a lot of money at Home Depot and this being my 2nd time at this location in the same day the customer service was horrific. I would advise any tradesman who may need materials around 4pm to avoid this home depot because if it is not readily available it will be very difficult getting help read more

My mother needed a new refrigerator and went here to look. She purchased one on 11/2/19. It took about a week to show up. The company they contract with for deliveries is awful. They were supposed to deliver between 2-6 and call a half hour before arrival. No one showed or called. When they finally did deliver, they took a chunk out of her front door and left several gouges and scratches on her hardwood floors. Plus the refrigerator was uneven. One door noticeably higher than the other. She called and got the run around several times. The reason for the no show the first time was that the truck supposedly broke down. No courtesy call to let her know they weren't coming. They were supposed to come today to see about the uneven doors. Again no show or call. When she finally got someone in the phone, again the excuse was that the truck broke down. She's still waiting to hear what they plan to do about the damage done to her house and no one knows now when they will come to fix the doors. Plus this brand new fridge makes a horrible rattling sound all the time. I realize that Home Depot contracts deliveries out but I think they should ultimately be responsible for using such a horribly unprofessional company. read more

Also the parking lot is very small and parking is extremely hard for trucks pulling trailers. It is nearly impossible to find anyone in the store, especially in appliances. I don't know if they just don't like their job or all were having a bad day, but no one smiled! I found the information from employees to be inaccurate and Home Depot does not stand behind their product. I do not feel they do the right thing nor do they have idea of ther term customer service because they probably don't feel the need. They are big and the consumer is not. Realize if you buy an item for delivery, they do not actually have Home Depot Delivery but contract it out to vendors who are paid by the drop. If something is not as it should be, they don't get paid if they don't leave it with you. Not to say all large stores are bad, as I have never had issues at Lowes. I do think it is time to - shop local and go to an appliance store or hardware where knowledgable people will actually assist you and will stand behind the product. read more

Am I seriously leaving a 5-star review for Home Depot? For the Covington store, yes I am, and I'm surprised about it myself. (Note: I'm not an employee, family of an employee, girlfriend of an employee, or imcentivised in any way to leave this review). I went in to the Lumber Department at about 8:30PM on this rainy might only half thinking I might be able to get what I needed. The young man working Lumber couldn't have been nicer or more eagerly helpful. When we couldn't find the Sande ply I needed on the shelves, he took the forklift outside and tracked down what hadn't yet been brought into the store. He also cut the sheets quickly into 45 pieces, perfectly following the dimensions I gave, and he and a manager loaded them into my car. All the employees I encountered tonight, including the young man working as cashier, worked together respectfully and smoothly to get the job done and couldn't have been nicer to me )and the other customers I observed them interacting with). They pretty much blew away any concerns I might've had about going to HD for this order (edited to add: I'm not sure I would've had the same experience at a Southshore HD. Terrible service, and terrible communication. I purchased a freezer, I called the same day to say that the freezer was not working. After a week of thanking to John the manager on 2 occasions he told me to contact Shane the appliance manager, which I called and left a message for Shane, he never has returned my call. A day went by and after several attempts at calling the store, I finally went in, I spoke to someone in customer service regarding my issue. She informed me that the phones in customer service were no working!!! Anyway after 20-30 minutes she said she would call me to confirm, because the computers were not working either!!! She had me tentatively scheduled for a pick up on the broken freezer for September 4, but would definitely call me to confirm..... never received any phone call from anyone. Then the next day, Saturday, at 7:10 in the morning my doorbell ring. 2 guys here to pick up the freezer, no paperwork, no communication. So I give them the freezer and take pictures of the truck, a unmarked Ryder truck. Then the driver proceeds to sweep out his truck from all of the debris in the street in front of my house!! Well can't deal with Lowe's, because of the same lack of professionalism, now can't/won't deal with Home Depot for the same reason. I stopped in to get some mulch that was on sale. I figured while I was there I could pick up some plants for my garden. But I could never get anyone to help me. They must have had I'd say around 10 people in the garden department. I waited around and walked around for a bit to see if I could get some assistance but not once did any sales associate ask if I needed help. Finally after about 30 minutes I walked up to a cashier and told him I needed assistance and he told me that "Tom" the guy that helps customers was on a break! He says I'm just a cashier. Visited Store 358 in Covington Louisianna, found some help after what seemed to be 10 minutes. Home Depot's price of 88 cents a foot for electrical wire was twice the price of a local competitor I ask if they would match the price and they said they don't normally do that. I ask him to call a manager which he did. After 2 minutes on the phone telling the manager the competition is cheaper he agreed to match the price for seventy feet of wire then told me they don't normally match the price of competitors for all products. I said I need seventy foot of each color black , red, and green wire. He then said oh no I'll have to call the manager back he only agreed to seventy feet, this act of drama made me feel uncomfortable. I told him I would purchase the wire at the competition, he said that would be best so I did. Home Depot advertises they will meet and beat any competitors price by 10% . I'm not pleased with the service of Home Depot lately. It's hard to find help in the store and customer service seems to be a thing of the past. read more

This Home Depot is as bad as it gets. The millwork rep mislead us, sold us the wrong product, sent the wrong installer and then refused to work with us to complete the job. HD took our $ up front for a door install and after 2 months of trying to get the recommended installer to actually come install the door, someone else with limited experience shows up. When we approached the store manager for help, he basically apologized and advised that HD could not complete the job and offerred a refund...the excuse given was that the recommended installer was too busy and that we had to accept whoever showed up for the install. We chose to go down the street to Lowe's where we found much more professional help. read more

It's next to impossible to get service at this Home Depot. There are dozens of employees and yet no one ever seems to be available to help. "I don't work in this department." I asked an employee (who was sitting at a desk, flipping through a catalogue) in the window department where the blinds were and received a smart ass response. The employee working in flooring could not have cared less whether I bought flooring from him. I bought blinds and the woman failed to trim the valance piece with the blinds. We've been back twice now and have been unable to have it trimmed...because "I don't work in that department." Both times someone has gone in search of someone and never returned. It blows my mind that this HD stays busy. Lowe's will be my first choice from now on. read more

I had selected flooring and had someone from the measuring dept come to measure. 3 days later I get no response so i call the Covington, LA store where I was making the purchase to inquire about my estimate. 1st call: wait on hold for 10 min. before front desk finally answered the call. I got transferred to another department who transferred me again to flooring finally. The guy in flooring picked up and told me to "hold on", then he hung up on me. Total wait time: 22 minutes. 2nd call: waited 12 min for front desk to answer. Transfers me to flooring. Someone answers and says "not my department, I just answered the phone". Transfers me again and I'm on hold another 17 min before i hung up. Total wait time: 29 minutes. 3rd call:6 min and front desk picks up. Asked to speak to a manager and the call was answered right away by a man named John. I told him my issue and what I was needing. He took my name and number and said someone from flooring was going to call me back in 10 min. or less which I did receive a call back and was given my quote details. Now, after dealing with this I began researching (and not Home Depots) reviews about the flooring installations from Home Depot. Hardly any good reviews. My carpet install from them was mediocre even though I purchased one of the most expensive carpets and premium pads they had. All the seams at thresholds are pulling up from tack strips. Now back to my quote, 2k more than a local company with excellent reviews on Angie's list. Soooo, with that being said #1 Lowe's is right next door with a better selection of everything and #2 I will NOT EVER have anything installed from them, period.
