My wife and I have bought all of our appliances from A1. We recently purchased a Maytag dryer and washer with extended warranty. The dryer has no heat. A1 sells a warranty managed by centricity centricity intern contracts with service centers to repair your dryer. We have been waiting since July 31 for service the service center for centricity claims that we have refused dates to Have Our Dr., fixed We are two weeks out from having no dryer. A1 service center is Broussard appliance repair and they have told me they don't have enough staff to man the job so in the future if you buy extended warranty, avoid centricity. read more

I paid for a refrigerator and was told it was in stock in Harvey Warehouse. I was instructed by salesman to call 2 days before I wanted it delivered to Covington for my pickup. Purchased a gas dryer , told the manager up front that I needed conversion kit to LP gas. It was the wrong kit. He reordered the same kit. Then he told me it was right and he would not take the dryer back. Called the factory gave model and serial numbers got the right kit. The process took 5 weeks. There attitude was you have a dryer you can't use and that's your problem. read more

It is easy to give a good review when you experience no problems with a major purchase but in my case we had one. We purchased a new refrigerator that had an issue with it. As not to waste your time, I will not go into details but I will say the following. We talked to Mr. Barrios, manager of the Covington location and he swiftly took care of our needs right away without any argument or hassle. Years ago I owned an appliance store and I will say that he handled the situation in an expert way. It is possible to have a problem with a product where ever you buy it but the reason I will return to A-1 is because of how great their customer service is. I suggest you do not purchase any appliances from the A1 in Covington. Their warranties are less than useless. And I do mean less than. Don't bother purchasing an extended warranty as they won't even honor original warranty. You are probably much better off dealing with Home Depot or Lowes or even Best Buy. Especially do not buy washers or dryers from A1 because they will give you the run around. And the manager is the worst. I noticed some reviews that said the purchasing experience was good or that they liked A1's selections. Sure, that's true enough. It's once you buy it that you run into the issues. read more

Don't try to use their website to order, reserve or even have someone contact you. IT WON'T HAPPEN!!! We saw that they had a washer in stock on their website so we "reserved" it for pickup the next day. We received a confirmation number and everything. Called the next day and the associate said they just sold the washer and that the E-mail we received didn't mean anything. We were told this by two different people. Spent 15,000 on a new refrigerator, and an additional 400 for installation. 400 dollars was evidently not enough for these guys to install it correctly, as they left things covered in packing tape that, while not visible, prevented it from making ice correctly, and allowed excess condensation to accumulate inside. My refrigerator went out on April 20th so we went to A1 to buy local. That was a Monday and I was told that it would be in on Wednesday the 22nd after 9:30. I went there at 11:30 in the 22nd and was told that it was shipped to a different store. So after paying someone and borrowing trailer to transport I had to wait another day. I called in the 23rd for pick up and explained my disappointment and was told I would be issued a 20.00 reign check by mail. After getting the refrigerator in place I noticed that the it's doors were uneven so I called and was told that instructions were in the book. I was very disappointed in my experience recently at A-1 in Covington. The lady who waited on us was very nice and helpful. When we got to the counter we wanted to get the 12 month same as cash special. She took my husbands drivers licence and called their credit department. She said we were turned down! I was very surprised and asked if there was a number I could call. She said we would have to wait to get something in the mail. We get the letter from their credit dept and it says that they could not give us the credit because my husband was dead! I called the manager AL to report this and told him my husband was in the store in person and this was a mistake. He said sorry there was NOTHING they could do. Poor management. I told him we are replacing our appliances one at a time and I would go elsewhere. To bad the local company did not want our business for 1,500.00 I am going to let everyone know how we were treated. Buyer beware!!! We went in to buy an ice machine. Sales lady was good and fairly knowledgeable. Variety was limited. Once we figured out what we wanted, we put in an order and were told that it would be 2 weeks which was probblematic for us so we told them that we would look elsewhere. They then told us that they could find a way to get it within a week so we agreed to place the order. The night before it was due to be delivered, we got a call that the unit arrived but it was damaged so they had to ship it back and get another one. We asked them to send us copies of the order certificate and pictures of the damage but they said they couldn't. This sounded like a classic bait and switch so we told them to cancel the deal. We have bought two refrigerators from A-1 and have had problems with the cooling in the ice maker. The first time it took over 6 weeks to repair because repairman told me the part is hard to get because they are having to be replaced so often. He even told me that I should not have bought this brand. Called the the main office of A-1 and they told me there was nothing they could about sevice. This week I again called about a new Samsung refrigeration we recently bought and again not cooling enough to make ice. I had a sevice appointment scheduled for Friday between 12 and 1 but I no one showed up nor called to tell me that they weren't coming. This is without a doubt the worse store I have even done business with. I wanted to help out the local guy. That is a mistake I will not make again. After ordering our appliances 3 months in advance of when they were needed, the day they were supposed to be delivered. we got a call that the dishwasher was not in. some kind of mixup in the order. we had to settle for another one because the contractor was there and we could not wait for them to reorder. than the cooktop was cracked. he said it would take 2 weeks to order a replacement. I asked for him to just refund my money as I could get the same thing in 3 days from Home Depot. After 2 weeks of me not receiving the refund I went bake to the store and was told yet another mix up they would refund the money in a couple of days. I Purchased a Refrigerator & a Freezer from A-1 about 2 years ago and did not have the best experience. Fast forward 2 years later.... I called today to see if my freezer was still under warranty (I believed I had purchased an extended warranty) and the man that answered the phone cut me off before I could finish talking and sputtered out an 1-800 phone number. I called the number, but my info was not pulling up so i was told to call the store back to verify what name and address it was under, or see if they had a copy of my receipt... The same RUDE man answered the phone and told me again to call the 1-800 number, and they do not keep any receipts in the store, but even if they did, he DID NOT and WOULD NOT look up anything for me. Do not buy anything from this store! The salesmen are nice and knowledgeable, but that's where the positives stop. The Service/repair department are absolutely atrocious. After 7 weeks, and 4 reschedules (on their part) my dryer is still not fixed. Most of the rescheduled happened last minute, as in, I stayed home all day waiting for them and they called AFTER they were supposed to be here to reschedule. They offer many platitudes but nothing in the way of solutions. I understand they only have one technician to device the entire northshore area... and that technician is only on the northshore two days per week. I purchased a Kitchen Aid Dishwasher from A-1 in Covington with intensions on buying the entire Kitchen Aid Appliance Set within the same month, received it about two weeks later, which from day ONE didn't work. I notified the store and was told I had to wait another week for solar appliance repair to come to my house to confirm it didn't work before they would take it back. One week later, Solar came to my residence and sure enough I wasn't lying, it didn't work. At this point, my wife was tried of washing dishes and A-1 had the un-grade version of the dishwasher in stock and extra $200 so we just bought that one. At the same time, we purchased a Kitchen aid Microwave for above the range. Brian our sales person stated it would only take a week and half to receive it. Well two weeks go by, and then three weeks go by, now it's getting really ridiculous. I called and spoke with the manger (Alan) to see what is the issue and to ask if they track the shipments. He was completely non-caring and arrogant towards me. His customer service skill was a ZERO on a scale of 1 to 10. I suggested I cancel my order and make the purchase from best buy because I would receive it in two days. He suggested I cancel it also. I told Alan to hold off canceling the order while I can check on this. Ten minutes later, I called Alan and he said very arrogant, I already cancelled your order. So, now I have to wait 15 to 30 days to receive my money back from them. That's okay because I have been a loyal customer of A-1 for over TEN YEARS spending thousand of dollars as well as a credit card holder and not only did I need to purchase the microwave but thanks for BestBuy I purchased the $800 Kitchen Aid Microwave, $3400 Kitchen aid Refrigerator and $2000 Kitchen aid Range to complete the set. DO NOT BUY FROM A1! I see in the other review they claimed an item "damaged" and they did the SAME THING TO US! I HAVE BEEN WAITING ONE MONTH for a dryer and a refrigerator. They are finally supposed to be delivered today at the exact time I have an appointment. You would think that considering how long I've been waiting they would make me a priority, but even after calling they tell me they can't change the time window for delivery.
