They had good prices. I believe I paid about $80 per piece. Mixed feels on the vibes here. It is tough to find a clerk if you randomly roam. Once you figure out the system, you'll be just fine. But it really should not be so complex, truly. Head to the customer service counter and hope for the best. As far as inventory, this place stays well stocked. That's probably part of the reason that this store stays busy. There's a pretty big garden section in the back! Good prices on bulk items too. You'll just have to expect a low frills service. They have self checkout lines on case the register lines get too long. This Home Depot has been in the neighborhood for years, at least since I was in middle school - that's why I was initially surprised to discover that I had not reviewed it here on Yelp (tells you how often I go to the Depot). I was in need of some home improvement supplies, and since I was in the neighborhood it only made sense for me to stop here, so off I went. I always felt this Depot was in a weird area Pelham Gardens, the commercial strip is pretty developed but the golf club across the street has been empty and overgrown for years, and the now closed Pelham Bay Diner is looking more dilapidated with each passing day. Anyway, back to the Depot - it's really no different from other locations I've been to - the inside is large and from what I saw, they were well stocked. I was able to find what I came for with ease, I can't speak for the helpfulness of the floor staff since I didn't need any help, however I did interact with some of the staff at checkout who were great. It also looks like they reorganized the checkout so that it's one line and you are taken care of my whichever cashier is available. Overall, I had a good experience at this Home Depot. I was able to quickly find what I needed, and the checkout process was smooth. I would definitely consider returning for my next home improvement project. read more

I always come here for gardening tools and plants. They offer a great selection at reasonable prices. There's parking always available and the shop carry's a variety of items. This Home Depot location is rather large compare to the other ones. Most of them carry the same bonsai trees, money trees , orchids and lots of flowers. I also saw they had nice tiles so I'm definitely going to come back to check out those. Also I agree with the reviews it was difficult to find people around the store but we just kind of wondered around it would be nice to have an expert that knows about gardening more available. read more

Yesterday evening I went to this location, upon entering a man entered behind us and he was saying out loud NASTY,NASTY, NASTY. I could not understand why at that moment but: No carts were available, and no wipes were available to wipe down one if you could find one. And the store wasn't even that crowded so there should've been carts available. There was garbage strewn about the parking area, ALL over the place. The lighting seem to be dimmer and than other Home Depot stores that I have visited. I refuse to spend my hard earned money in a store with these conditions. So I left and drove to the New Rochelle location, where I instantly found a cart upon walking into the store. Wipes were available to wipe down the cart and garbage was not strewn all around the parking area. The lighting in the store was much better. I had to wait in line for a while since the store was kind of packed but it was worth it. Steer clear of the Gun Hill Rd HD location. Save yourself the disappointment and just go to New Rochelle- it was a pleasure to shop there. read more

To date (08/16) I still have NOT received an email informing me my item was in store. I went to the store and they're stating they have not received the item. Joking aside, I'm not talking about hammers, miter saws, Batarangs and other items in a utility belt, Robin. I've come here for paint supplies, cleaning, lighting and the products are fine. The check out lines are long. One bonus is the hot dog stand in front. Its a good snack spot, since I refuse to step into Chuck E Cheese (crappy food, crappy kids, crappier parents) across the way. But the real meat of this review reflects on Home Depot's contractor services. As a home owner of one of my childhood homes, my parents decided to keep the same kitchens for the last 30 years (or since it was built). This explains why I never had the nicest clothes or cars, but was fortunate to attend private schools my entire academic career. I decided it was time for a fresh look. Because Tim the Toolman Taylor accurately describes my lack of dexterity in home improvement, I decided to consult the experts. I used the services of Craftmasters-Home Depot to renovate two kitchens simultaneously; project that spanned 5 months (march - august). I know, crazy. I was without the use of a kitchen for a month (= week of work, waiting time, countertop). The Good: + Design with Jim W was good. He was sensitive to cost and made sure the kitchen designs reflected it. + Actual work: demolition, electrical, plumbing, carpentry work occurred on time. + The final product was good - kitchen cabinets and counter top look good (comparing before and after). The Bad: - Some subcontractors were inconsiderate of other residents (neighbors)... although scheduled for a 9AM start, they may show up at 7AM or 8AM and ring all the doorbells. This is frustrating. In the paperwork, the work is fully documented. So is the contact information. - Lack of accountability. I had to make calls and follow up with statuses. I couldn't rely on Home Depot to get back to me with an answer. - Countertop colors ended up being incorrect. Somewhere in the system "colors" were not updated as we requested. - "Innovative Stone/Marble Techniques" delayed the countertop for a few weeks thanks to their mishandling of paper work - overpromising and underdelivering on dates is annoying. The team did their measurements and I had to end up paying more money due to cost overruns. The Ugly: -- Insincerity of customer service. Ever feel like you are talking to a used car sales man? They tell you what you want to hear, but it's vapor ware. There is no ounce of genuine conversation, no did I feel confident in them. I would call back and do the follow up. -- Opportunity cost. I could have bought a M3. Or I could have moved into another borough by now. Wonderful. -- I was a victim of proximity. I'm not sure if Lowes would have been better. The road traveled left much to be desired. I don't question their work or selection of skilled workers. Unfortunately, the operations management is questionable. Being without a kitchen for more than a month is painful; knowing that minutes, hours, days and weeks could have been shaved off but weren't is depressing. I'm not going to do another kitchen renovation project with Craftmasters-Home Depot again. The headaches I encountered were too much for me to happy about the entire process. I love Home Depot. My dad was a 20+ year employee. I hate this Home Depot. If I have time I will drive the extra 10 minutes to New Rochelle. Why? Tonight was typical of the customer service I receive here. I need a board cut. I track down a disinterested employee who has someone paged. After waiting 10 minutes without seeing anyone I call the store where I am on hold for an additional 10 minutes before I am able to talk to a live person. The customer service rep helpfully tells me that they "can try and have the person paged but we are not sure if they are still here!" Add a tendency by customers at this store to loot packages for various parts meaning you are never sure if you are getting everything you are paying for, and it is probably worth the extra drive to go to one of the other locations if you can! read more

I am basing this review on my interaction with Chase at the paint center. Nadine and some of the other uniformed employees in the paint dept would not give me the time of day. I tried to get Nadine's attention by calling her name--so did Chase--but she was too busy chatting with coworkers. This was my first time being helped by Chase, and he was very attentive and informative, helping me to color match a piece of furniture that I brought in, going through the paint samples when it was too large to be scanned. They tell you there are two kinds of Home Depots, but there are actually three kinds. Regular Home Depot, flagship Home Depot (bigger, more selection), and the third, unofficial kind is the "urban" Home Depot, a Home Depot found in developed, low income areas. The Gun Hill Road Home Depot is an urban Home Depot. Obvious signs include security checking your purchases and receipts on your way out, day laborers in the parking lot, and finding open boxes of merchandise in the aisles, necessitating checking the contents before you buy. You also have the occasional guy making eye contact with you saying the mantra "transport?", asking if you want your items delivered. I suspect it's illegal soliciting. Guys in the parking lot hang out trying to help you, hoping to get tips. If you're nice and polite, they'll try and help you anyway even if you politely decline, so be vigilant. Actually, I'm at this Home Depot now and there are guys in the parking lot doing amateur auto body work. The parking lot of this Home Depot is a veritable flea market. Stock here is hit and miss. More often than not, for Tiles and plumbing specialty items and such, I find myself having to go to New Rochelle because this place can be out of stock. Aisle employees are hit and miss like in most Home Depots, but there are a few great people like Richard at mill work who is very helpful. Most of the cashiers are nice and friendly. This pro desk is fairly ace. Nikki is excellent (one of the best I've met at Home Depot actually), and Franklin is pretty good too. The latter was one of the very few really helpful people at Jericho Home Depot, so Jericho's loss is Gun Hill Road's big score. This Home Depot is a mixed bag. The atmosphere is heavily "urban", stock is not really reliable, but there are some employees here who make a big difference to making this a good store. read more

Stay away from this Home Depot. I moved into the area in 2003 and It's only four blocks from my home. I learned early on to only go there when I know exactly what I'm looking for and exactly where in the store is located. If I have to ask a question I travel half houto the Home Depots in Westchester County. Yesterday morning at 9:30 AM I went to the store to purchase all purpose miracle grow soil. I needed 130 ft.³ of it for two raised garden beds. I parked in front of the gate of the garden area where the cashier is located so that I wouldn't have to push 25 bags across the parking lot. After I filled the hand truck I proceeded to the gate where two employees where standing a female and a male with dreads. I asked if they could raise the gate so that I could pay for my items and they said no that the register was closed. I told them I had 25 .75 cubic feet of soil I had to push to the other side of the parking lot and they repeated that the register was closed. I headed over to the customer service return cashier half way in the store and asked if she could ring me up. Thankfully she did and sure enough as I exited the store the gate at the garden section was raised and the register was open. They could have told me to wait five minutes to turn on the register but no instead they made me push a heavy hand truck halfway into the store. After I loaded my bags into my suv I went back to the store to speak to the manager about the situation and all I got is that she would talk to them what ever that means.
