Rose Hill Nurseries is a family-run, old-school, full service nursery. The owner is an extremely talented landscape architect who can help with any need in that area. Rose Hill will also plant any landscape shrubs you need (for an additional fee). Rose Hill is the place you go when you need quality merchandise and / or expertise regarding how to plant, where to plant, growth characteristics, etc. This is the place to go if you need goods carried out to your car or even help picking out flowers. If you need specialized merchandise, Henry will help you order it from his supplier. Their Christmas decorations are beyond compare! I have been a loyal shopper for over 40 years, even now that I no longer live in the area. What inspired me to write this is people comparing Rose Hill to Home Depot and I am here to tell you that there is no comparison. read more

I spent over $800 on several small trees in early spring and a few hundred more on some annuals at Rose Hill. The owners were pleasant and I enjoyed finding so many beautiful plants and trees. Then One of the trees I bought turned out to be dead--not a single bud on that lifeless stick while the others flowered nicely. The owners first doubted me when I reported the problem, then they didn't offer to replace the tree or refund my money. I asked for a replacement and regretted doing so. The owners clearly did not welcome making the exchange. Really puzzling to me since my initial experience was pleasant and I'd spend over a thousand dollars that spring. The good news is that there are some truly wonderful plant nurseries minutes away from Rose Hill that stand behind what they sell. read more

One of the best local nurseries I've been to! It's so clean and all the plants are incredibly healthy, clean, and blooming. I was shopping for plants at the Union Square farmer's market the day before and at other places, only to find that Rose Hill had the same plants for a similar price but much healthier. Many of the nurseries around here sell mostly outdoor plants, but Rose Hill has a beautiful indoor greenhouse with many good indoor finds! Including many rare wishlist plants, Hoyas, peperomias, etc. I'm just impressed at how well taken care everything is, and how clean the greenhouse is. I purchased a number of tomato plants and herbs and was told they were organic. I called the nursery Rose Hill purchased them from to confirm that and the nursery informed me that they were NOT organic and and in fact are GMO. Misleading at best and false advertising. All of the plants are developing aphids, and that's what happens to weak variants. read more

Visited this beautiful nursery for my first time & that's all it took for me to fall in love with the place. We are in November & the variety of gorgeous plants available is amazing. I'm a succulent mom but I found my new garden heaven my new go to place. I've been to other nurseries and this one has topped them all. The service was awesome I asked a question regarding my plants and the kind man at the front counter was an absolute great help. He was very knowledgeable very patient with all of my questions and was extremely sweet to my little guy who I brought with me. The value of my plants was surprisingly affordable. Compared to other nurseries and big box stores who have limited selections and are excessively over priced Rose Hill was reasonably affordable and the BIG PLUS to this wonderful place is the plants are well cared for even the plants are happy here. You won't spend big bucks on a small purchase like you would at other places unless you buy the place out which is what I really wanted to do lol. I will be returning !!!! read more

I've shopped at Rose Hill for the past few years, after underwhelming experiences at Rosedale, Gedney, and Home Depot. The owner Henry and his wife Heather have always gone above and beyond in advising me about their plants. They love to discuss and educate and show off their gorgeous foliage and will tell you upfront if the plant you want to purchase is appropriate for your needs. No matter how busy the store is, someone is available to show you around and recommend the right plant -- whether that's a fast-growing jasmine vine or evergreen privacy shrub or decorative lavender and marigolds that complement one another in a planter. Who knew that the so-called mosquito repelling plants like citronella aren't effective unless their oil is rubbed directly on your skin?!? Henry and Heather are small business owners, and the store has been in their family for generations. The care and courtesy they show customers is what keeps us coming back. read more

I love this Nursery. I had to leave my plants behind during a move. My beau and I were driving in the area and I swiftly pulled in when I saw this place. Heather was fantastic, much knowledge of plants. I picked up some cool plants making me feel a little better leaving my plant children in California. I got a couple of cool cactus and they are growing so lovely! I will be back to this place! So glad this place is around! read more

Woman who 'helped' me was rude and seemed as though she didn't have time to assist my mother and me. She also assumed my mother didn't speak English because she asked me to explain what she had just said to me to my mother, who was standing right next to me. My mother understands and speaks English and 3 other languages fluently. I thought the point of a business was to make a sale. read more

Was able to score an awesome Xmas tree at a great price and even picked up a poinsettia plant for my mom who said it was the most beautiful, "full" plant she's ever seen! Last week I walked in ready to satisfy end-of-summer plant cravings. I was impressed with the quality, assortment, and prices. I gathered about 4-5 and was looking for more when my bladder had other plans. That's when I first saw an employee. She greeted me. I asked for a bathroom and was told it's not open to the public, and there's a Starbuck a few minutes away. I said I wouldn't be able to make it while doing the "dance" and she suggested I go in the woods (Read Ruth and the Green Book, and you'll see why this hit home) and told me that is where she sends the kids. There's much to dissect (racism? Covid?, paying customer, customer service, where DO YOU go to the bathroom?, etc.) However, I really feel like an exception could have been made. I didn't go into the woods, although I was tempted to because I didn't want I have an accident. Thank God He sucked it up and I made it to the next plant shop where I was able to use the bathroom. That's where I spent my money. read more

Horrible service. My Christmas tree was invested with flies called Psocids (bark lice) from here, and they would not offer any reimbursement for the $120 tree, which I had to get an exterminator to come to my house to identify what the flies were and that it wasn't not dangerous for me who is pregnant and my toddler at home. The woman there received my concerned voicemail the same day but chose not return my call. After a day of more calls and no answer, I finally got Heather to pick up my call to find out there was nothing she would compensate me for. Will never go here again! read more

This is my favorite nursery. I live in the next town over where we have two nurseries but I still prefer this one. The staff is knowledgable and helpful & have a good variety of plants. I also noticed that the plants themselves are MUCH healthier and more robust than at other nurseries I have shopped at. Not just the blooms but the plants themselves. Really good annuals. The employees are very knowledge and the selection and quality of the plants are impressive. My favorite time to go is during the holidays- excellent trees for Christmas as well as poinsettias.
