I haven't had such bad experiences with the creepy guy, but I totally knew who the other reviewers were referring to. I did get creep vibe from him whenever I come in, so I have always avoided him. I know that having things behind glass and the counter is par for the course in an old school Brooklyn store, but it does put me off since I never feel comfortable asking for anything. The store is packed with stuff, which means they probably have at least something you need, but it is extremely hard to navigate. I have gotten a bunch of keys made, but I have been trying to get my mail key copied for months. Every time I come, I am told they don't have that key template and will have it in next week. I've gone in many "next weeks" and they always tell me the same thing. It's really annoying. The prices are jacked up, but sometimes I am in a jam and can't go all the way to Home Depot in BedStuy.

Yes, they carry tools of the common variety, as well as the household goods you've probably come to expect from any respectable discount store in the immediate vicinity. Prices are understandably commensurate with the quality of their wares, so you'll definitely save money if you need tools for a quick fix, but maybe less so if you're building an heirloom toolbox to pass on to your handy little offspring. So, it's really the moniker that prompts me to return here over any one of the multitudes of 99-cent stores. Well played!

Instead of going to Home Depot and spending hours looking around, go to Harry's and find what your looking for in minutes. The people who work there are extremely helpful and know a lot about what they are selling, especially the guys who work in the paint department. They sell Benjamin Moore and California paints, which IMO are way better than Behr and Glidden paints. And the prices are usually cheaper, if not the same as Home Depot. During Christmas they also sell Christmas trees for the cheapest prices in Middle Village, they also sell the stand, lights, decorations, and all of the supplies you need for decorating. The store is actually two store fronts that were combined to make one larger store. Harry is the owner along with his wife and daughter, they are all very nice people. There are some things you have to go to Home Depot for, like sheet rock and ceiling fans, but for all of the small stuff, and some of the bigger stuff too, go to Harry's. read more
