As I walked in the door I was greeted by six beautiful women who agreed to take a selfie with me. One minute in and it's already looking great. My waitress Priscilla asked if she could seat me and got me an excellent table with a view she convinced me to try a few signature drinks and the fish and chips. I was surprised that a few of the waitresses all came to my take to ask how I was doing, like Jazmin and Clarissa. They stayed to chat with me and that's how I got all their names. I couldn't think of a better way for a guy working in the nearby oilfields to come and spend a night and talk to some bubbly beautiful personalities. I'm already looking forward to coming back, this is definitely my new spot.

I was greeted immediately, and while the atmosphere was more laid-back than lively, it seemed like a decent alternative. My server was attentive at first and checked on me several times. I ordered nachos and wings, but the nachos needed more cheese. Overall, the experience was just okay--then came dessert. My server recommended the lava cake, and I'm always up for a good one. Unfortunately, I waited 28 minutes without an update or anyone checking on my table. When I started looking around, she seemed to notice, and the cake finally arrived shortly afterward. After all that waiting, the center was hard. The "lava" wasn't melted at all, and I couldn't finish it. That was especially disappointing for a dessert the server specifically recommended. When I asked for the bill, she came over immediately with the payment device. But when I requested a receipt, she handed me someone else's. I then had to track her down to get my own. Friendly service at the beginning doesn't make up for being forgotten later, a disappointing dessert, and a checkout mistake. Ojos Locos earned one star from me, and Tilted Kilt gets two. Neither gave me a reason to return.

Second, the food- we had the melted cheese with bread, and it was phenomenal- so much flavor. I would order that again and again. For an entree, I had the Peruvian chicken. OMG was it amazing- so juicy and so much flavor. Even the white meat was yummy. The white beans had such a delicate flavor, and the fries were an herby, delicious, crispy bite. My husband had the 13 oz prime rib, something he's been craving a while, and he said it was perfect and exactly what you want in a prime rib. Next time I come back to Laredo, I'm returning to El Capataz.

A gentleman open the door and warmly greets on the way in and out. Nice touch. Wait staff was professional, personable, and friendly. The menu has something for everyone from hamburger, fish and chips, fish tacos, and more. Please check their menu. We started with a drinks and Elote. Since we've had Mexican food for two days we ordered the Fish and Chips which was delicious. The order comes with four fried fish fillets, fries, and a yummy dipping sauce and Malted vinegar. For dessert, we had the brownie bits with a scope of vanilla ice cream. We enjoyed our meal from beginning to end. Happy Eating! Eat delicious.

Staying in the adjacent hotel, I walked over to Applebee's despite the poor Yelp reviews. Most of…read morethe unfavorable ones were a few years old. So I thought I would have a go. Greeted at the hostess stand and ushered right to a booth, I began tapping my toe to Laura Branigan's "Gloria" playing a little loud. The 80's flashbacks just kept coming. I like it so far. A young lady, very polite and very new, took my order...twice. She forgot how I wanted my chicken. No problem. Her politeness compensated. I QR'd the menu and ordered the Asian Salad with crispy chicken. Wasn't looking for anything heavy and it sounded great. The restaurant was not busy despite it being lunchtime. I waited a reasonable amount of time and my salad was delivered. Looked great. Lots of chicken. Not too heavy on the dressing (which by the way was sweet and a little tangy) which complemented the salad perfectly. No wonder it was listed as an Applebee's favorite. It a Jeaux's favorite too. After finishing my salad, my young new waitress would stroll by and ask if I needed anything. I was writing this review so I declined. About 20 minutes pass before I realize she hadn't brought the check. I was thinking of the Blonde Brownie anyway. Another 10 and I realized, the check wouldn't come without asking for it. So I gave the young new waitress the universal head motion to summon her when she looked my way. After seeing that the brownie was 1,000+ calories and the double chocolate cake and ice cream was 800, I opted for the chocolate dessert when she arrived. It was as I remembered. Worth all 800 calories. Hey I walked from the hotel and will walk back so only 790 calories left to burn. The food and the service were solid. Can't really give it a 5 star. My chicken was a little bready and it is a chain. If you want a good meal, I think they may have worked the kinks out from the prior poor reviews. Bon appetit Yelpers.

It's not perfect, you might think what a 4/5-star rating looks like for a restaurant that is polarizing to some, but if I see that I am going to a restaurant that is full, I don't expect 5 star-rated experience. I don't have any complaints about food or service. BWW is reasonably priced, and I will expect a reasonable experience. It's not for everyone, like food, it's an acquired taste. People forget that it's also a sports bar, so yes, the restrooms will be that of a pub. dirty, gross, smelly. The ambiance is very particular. Could BWW use a facelift or a second restaurant in Laredo? yes, most certainly, but I am here for food and service, and I am okay with what I've experienced. Oh, the waitresses that have served me have been wonderful, every single one of them.

Which brings to mind many questions. Can they not just cut up tenders? Or even boneless wings? So i pivoted and got a grilled chicken caesar salad. And look, I should have read these reviews so this is my fault. But let me say here and now that on January 26th, on the 150th anniversary of our nation's founding, I had the worst chicken caesar salad I have ever had. To really understand this you need to know that I am 49. And that I eat in airports a lot where oftentimes the only thing to eat is a mealy chicken caesar wrap. I am familiar with mediocre chicken caesar salads. In all forms. This chicken was tougher than Nelson Mandela. They only give you plastic utensils which made this all the more apparent. The rest of the salad looked like it took silver in a speed caesar contest. Just sad lettuce with soft croutons, the devil's chicken and some drips of dressing. The funny thing is that all the exterior lights were off, so I thought they were closed. That was God telling me not to enter this place. I should have listened. I'm sorry God.
