I had a very frustrating experience at Applebee's. When I arrived with my service dog, a coworker was sent to ask if it was a service animal, and I confirmed that it was. After reporting back to the manager, I went to find a seat, but the chair I sat in was broken--something I couldn't have known, especially as someone who is legally blind. This was a serious safety hazard, and I'm grateful my service dog was there to catch me. Then, despite already addressing the service dog question, the manager came up to ask again. At that point, I had enough and left. This experience was completely unacceptable--both a dangerous environment for blind individuals and an example of poor customer service. read more

Staying in the adjacent hotel, I walked over to Applebee's despite the poor Yelp reviews. Most of the unfavorable ones were a few years old. So I thought I would have a go. Greeted at the hostess stand and ushered right to a booth, I began tapping my toe to Laura Branigan's "Gloria" playing a little loud. The 80's flashbacks just kept coming. I like it so far. A young lady, very polite and very new, took my order...twice. She forgot how I wanted my chicken. No problem. Her politeness compensated. I QR'd the menu and ordered the Asian Salad with crispy chicken. Wasn't looking for anything heavy and it sounded great. The restaurant was not busy despite it being lunchtime. I waited a reasonable amount of time and my salad was delivered. Looked great. Lots of chicken. Not too heavy on the dressing (which by the way was sweet and a little tangy) which complemented the salad perfectly. No wonder it was listed as an Applebee's favorite. It a Jeaux's favorite too. After finishing my salad, my young new waitress would stroll by and ask if I needed anything. I was writing this review so I declined. About 20 minutes pass before I realize she hadn't brought the check. I was thinking of the Blonde Brownie anyway. Another 10 and I realized, the check wouldn't come without asking for it. So I gave the young new waitress the universal head motion to summon her when she looked my way. After seeing that the brownie was 1,000+ calories and the double chocolate cake and ice cream was 800, I opted for the chocolate dessert when she arrived. It was as I remembered. Worth all 800 calories. Hey I walked from the hotel and will walk back so only 790 calories left to burn. The food and the service were solid. Can't really give it a 5 star. My chicken was a little bready and it is a chain. If you want a good meal, I think they may have worked the kinks out from the prior poor reviews. Bon appetit Yelpers. read more

Like most places in town, this place has been in decline for some time now. Extremely incompetent staff, especially the bartenders. No one seems to know how to pour a beer correctly, and the glasses usually taste like soap. As if they're not cleaning glasses the right way, and I have seen them. They just pass them through sanitizer and then use them. Everything is dirty and smells bad. The booths are falling apart as well. I am never coming back here. read more

My Steak was ordered med rare.. not well done. I'm sure she didn't write it down .. Bathrooms are nasty and full of trash. toilets don't flush.. Still waiting on my 2nd order of drinks 1:30hrs later they have been on the counter for about 20 min. I know because I've been looking at them. I was greeted right away, seated right away, and my drink order taken as soon as I was seated. It's very nice that they have a non-alcoholic beer on menu. The server was very friendly and continually checked in to see if I needed anything. My food an drink orders were delivered quickly, the food was hot, and there were lots of TVs for watching the game. If I'm back in town I would visit this location again. read more

Came here yesterday with my school's soccer team. My teammates got the 6oz sirloin with broccoli. Most of the steaks were not cooked and THERE WAS A MAGGOT IN THE BROCCOLI. is that it? no. Came back today because we were hopeful and I got the steak and sure enough, THERE WAS ANOTHER MAGGOT IN THE BROCCOLI!!!!! The manager took off 6/24 plates and said that was the best he could do. It's been awhile since I've been to this location, but thanks to this last visit I understood why. The service overall was saved thanks to the hostess since they're the only section to make an effort. The wait staff could do more in regards of the service, since the better they do in refills and being attentive of the table the more we'll tip. The management didn't try to make an effort in the ambience regarding the selections on the TV or music since it is a bar & grill. The food is good but some in my group ordered "a la cart" and others the 2 for $20, the specials looked more appetizing than the regular priced meals. If the hostess wasn't more attentive of the table than the wait staff or managers (since managers tend to help to make the meal better in some places) we would of had a more disappointing time. Great service from Edmundo, mediocre food, loud atmosphere. We were unfortunately seated next to a large party who were obnoxious and very inconsiderate of the people around them. I wish this place had a back room for groups to avoid the same situation in the future. The music was random and awkward, and VERY loud. The food is very boring and not cooked especially well. I ordered the bourbon street chicken, and it was so dry and chewy, the potatoes were soaked in grease, the tortilla chips that came with our (delicious) spinach dip were very very greasy, and the $6 "brownie bite" dessert is just that. We went in there to enjoy the half price apps . The food was well made . Hot and fresh . Waitress could not provide me with a receipt when I asked for my copy ... This place is great to dine in at. Their food taste good and have awesome drink options. Unfortunately we can't have it all. We placed an online order to pick up carside to go yesterday. All you have to do is place your order and pay online then park at the designated Carside To Go parking and someone will bring your food over. That sounds easy right. Well, we arrived on time but there were other vehicles parked in the carside parking with no one inside. We parked one next to it. We waited and no one ever came out to hand us our food. Finally we went inside to see if our oder was ready and it was. We arrived home about 2 minutes later (we live near by) and all the food was cold. This was so disappointing. I hope this was a one time thing and they don't do this to everyone's online order. Next time we will dine in instead. read more

IF YOU WANT HORRIBLE SERVICE PLEASE GO TO THIS APPLEBEES! Since you walk in the hostess take forever to sit you then they tell you a server would be right with you. It took 15 minutes for a server to greet us and take drink orders. Food took about 30-35 minutes then not enough silverware was given to us I had to get up myself to the host stand and ask for some. Just a bad experience overall food was good but just the time it takes to actually get to you. Last few times I have been here, everything about the experience has been awful. Granted, I don't really expect much out of a chain restaurant, but this was just plain bad. After being sat by the hostess, it took about 15 minutes for anyone to stop by to take a drink order or to even introduce themselves as our waitress. Finally when the waitress arrived, we gave her our entire order because we figured it would be forever before we saw the waitress again. Took them another 15 minutes to bring out an iced tea and a simple LIT; bar was busy, but not to that extent. Food order came out about 15 or 20 minutes after that, but we were still without even utensils. We ordered 10 wings, mozzarella sticks, and nachos. The wings and nachos tasted like they've been sitting around on a warmer for more than 10 minutes and the mozzarella sticks never came out. When asked for utensils, they came back with food still caked on them from a wash machine that was probably not cleaned the entire shift (I've worked in a restaurant before, the waste basket in the commercial dishwasher needs to be rinsed out every hour or so, to effectively clean). We checked bill on the kiosk, but saw the sticks weren't ordered. Giving the waitress the benefit of the doubt we reordered the mozzarella sticks. After another 15 minutes of waiting, without seeing our waitress, the newly ordered sticks never came either. Finally asked for a manager, who gave the normal "I was just about to bring them out" speech. He offered a discount on our next meal, but we won't likely be returning any time soon. PS, next morning I've been in and out of the restroom dealing with what feels like food poising. Should have known not to touch them after tasting the old fryer grease on the wings. read more

Horrible service! I placed an order online went to pick it up. A simple order. The female bartender was so spacy she gave me wrong order. I handed it back told her it was wrong she was rude and said look that guy picked his order up and its right. After 20 mins of waiting she was telling me how much $ applebees made the previous night. I dont care. Received my order got home And It WAS WRONG! I called the manager not much help he sent me a voucher for a next visit. The next visit came around decided to give it another chance. WORSE the ribblets were COLD & my side item was not the side order I wanted. My husbands order was wrong as well. I called AGAIN and spoke to kitchen manger not much help either. After evacuating from Corpus Christi to Laredo last week during Hurricane Harvey, my husband and I ordered a carryout meal. Being totally unfamiliar with restaurants in Laredo we figured Applebee's was a safe choice. We weren't expecting a gourmet meal, but were expecting decent food for the price. We were very wrong. I wouldn't say the food was inedible, but I wouldn't say I wanted to eat it either. I had the Oriental Chicken Salad. The "Asian Greens" consisted of what appeared to be an old tasteless bagged salad that was mostly red cabbage and romaine. No crispy Chinese noodles as shown in the photo, and chicken "nuggets" that were mostly breading, and ice cold. The dressing tasted like creamy corn syrup. My husband had the Three-Cheese Chicken Cavatappi. No sign of any "fresh basil or bruschetta". It was a cheese flavored watery sauce topped with a chicken breast that looked like it came out of a bag of frozen chicken that just got heated up and plopped on top the pasta. Our dogs got most of it. Probably our last time eating at Applebee's. read more

Here we go again, "Typical Laredo, TX Service"!!! My wife and I were trying to think of a place to have dinner, we chose Applebees on San Dario Ave. Because the other location at International Blvd. & Loop 20 is like going to a congal! (a raunchy bar - to loud can't even hear what the waiters are saying not to mention trying to talk to talk to your better half). Anyway we arrived at the San Dario location at approximately 5:00pm. The establishment was about a quarter full. The hostess sat us right away. She told us "Your waiter will be with you shortly" and left. We sat there with just the menus in hand for about 7 to 10 minutes and no one ever came by or acknowledge us. Needless to say my wife and I got up and walked out. No one said or asked us anything. The only the other customers acknowledge us and knew exactly what had happened. At the exit my wife asked for the name of the Manager of a passing waitress and she said his name was Cesar....Cesar now I understand why the restaurant was only a quarter full on a Saturday evening when it should have been at three quarters full to capacity. When we got there this past friday, we got greeted and seated by the manager, he sat us in a booth near the restroom. We order our drinks and we didn't get them until 15 minutes later, we were asking for our drinks to three diferent waitresses all the time and no one knew where were our drinks. We asked to be moved to another table or booth because there was a foul odor of sewer where we were seating. Our beers were warm so we told our waitress named Rosalinda about it, but she didn't even bother to change our beers or even asked us if we wanted them changed. read more

Went for dinner the other night, normally I sit at the bar and would give it 2-3stars, but the bar was full so I decided to get a table. Server was great! Very outgoing and had great knowledge of the menu. She first set down a happy hour menu and told us about all of the late night specials. She took our drink order and had them out very quickly. I ordered the wonton tacos on the happy hour menu and was pleasantly surprised. Came with 4 small tacos that I thought were really good! Crunchy and a good amount of food for an entree (which is what I did). My friend got the specialty steak they were promoting with sweet mash and Mac and cheese. Very good! Steak cooked a little bit over what was ordered but nothing to complain about. Drinks were never empty, and table was cleared in a timely manner. Will definitely be back to test out the bar again someday! read more

If you can stomach a restaurant that smells like an old wet dishrag, has ants crawling on the walls, tables that are sticky, rugs that are almost black with grease tracks, walls that have food splattered on them and wait service that is mediocre at best, then you are about to have a delicious meal.
