Whenever we asked someone to recommend somewhere to eat, they invariably would say La Bodeguita. I…read moream not exaggerating, every single person. We were leaving for the second leg of our trip and were running late, as usual. We decided to run across the street for a sit down lunch, what's another hour? Two smiling faces greeted us at the door. They offered a high top but my hip was absolutely not digging it nor a table up the flight of steep stairs. Once seated, we were greeted promptly and had water in front of us almost immediately. We each ordered soup and then a sandwich to share. I had the Sopa de Pollo . A hot bowl thick with thin noodles and lots of chunks of chicken. The chunks were too big to eat without being cut up which was a challenge in a bowl of broth. It was so hot that I had to wait a while to try it and even then had to blow on it. It was delicious. Unless the soup is your meal, order a cup. I still took nearly a pint of soup back with me. My husband ordered the Frijole Negro - a huge bowl of black beans that was served with a large pile of raw onions on top. Like the chicken soup, it was burn your mouth hot and a very large serving. He said it was good but he'd not order it again. Moving on to the sandwich. We had the Cubano. I'm not even going to describe it - just trust me - order the Cubano. Do not look at the rest of the menu - order the Cubano. Don't even bother looking at the ingredients, just order the Cubano. Have you ordered it yet? Do it already. The Cubano is huge. We split one half and had the other when we arrived at our next stop. Do consider that we had soup first; otherwise, we'd have eaten the whole thing. The accompanying plantain chips were worthy of their own review. They were wonderful. Who knows if and when we'll be back to Louisville but when we are, La Bodeguita will be the first place we stop. BTW, have you ordered the Cubano yet? What are you waiting for? Put your phone done and order it! Enjoy!!

We can't believe it took us this long to discover Pearl Street Taphouse. Although it's been around,…read moretonight was our family's first visit--and it absolutely will not be our last. There were six of us, and every single person at the table was genuinely thrilled with their meal. The food was outstanding across the board--fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care--and the prices were very reasonable for the quality and portions. We also enjoyed the drinks--a cider and a chocolate stout--both of which were excellent. It's rare to find a place where everyone walks away happy, but Pearl Street Taphouse managed it effortlessly. The unanimous decision before we even left was to meet back there again next week for dinner. That alone says everything. Highly recommend this local gem--we're already looking forward to our next visit.

Seating was available inside and out - accessible seating for those in a wheelchair would be difficult indoors due to limited space - tables are very close together. We elected to sit indoors due to the heat and had no trouble finding an available table. Our server was Greg and while the restaurant was not crowded - he was covering table tables both inside and out - which meant he would disappear for long periods of time. While he did his best to cover everyone appropriately, I believe the manager should reevaluate table coverage for a superior dining experience. The menu provides ample selection of items to order. I would highly recommend the large pretzel as an appetizer. We ordered the Cuban sandwich with potato salad and a chicken sandwich with waffle fries. I mentioned to Greg that I was lactose intolerant and he was able to accommodate by ensuring he would mention to the chef that no diary should be used in preparation. Both sandwiches arrived with no issues - with the only complaint being that the potato salad was very bland. Other than that, all went well. Overall, the food was good - fairly straightforward bar food. During peak times - seating will be limited, possibly non-existent. If you try Pearl Street Taphouse go during off-peak hours for the best service and seating options.

It could just be mediocre pub food, but the food here is very, very good. I don't know why, but when I'm in the south, I get the hankering for a deviled egg. So we started with the deviled eggs (Los Huevos El Diablo), which, despite the name, were not super spicy. They had just the right amount of spice. One thing to know about me is: If I see a patty melt on the menu, I will order that. So I got the Merle's Melt, which is a burger patty with cheddar and Monterey jack cheese, plus bacon and special sauce on buttered toast. It was sublimely tasty! It comes with house-made chips, which were good. They also offer tacos on the menu. One of my children got one steak taco and one chicken taco. The tacos are topped with tomato, lettuce and cojita cheese. I was told that these were very good! My kid eats like a bird, but ate one and a half tacos, so that must say something, right? The Lip Smack'n Mac & Cheese was also ordered, as well as the fried chicken, because the menu says that the fried chicken is award-winning, so how could we not? The fried chicken was super crispy and tasty, and the mac and cheese was creamy and made with large shells, which is the best kind of pasta to use for mac and cheese (in my opinion). The service was great, the lighting was great, and we were seated quickly, even though they seemed busy. It was a good place to have a family dinner in Louisville.

There are also picnic tables out front. You get a faint whiff of the grill/smoker upon entering. Kylie was our bartender and she was fabulous - knowledgeable, friendly, and answered all of our questions with patience. Wife ordered a mango margarita and doesn't like a lot of tequila, so Kylie went half and gave her a shot on the side in case she wanted to add more. It was wonderful. I had a couple of beers. We started with the fried mushrooms, which aren't what you would expect. It's two large portobellos cut into chunks, battered, fried, and served with sun-dried tomato mayo. They were great. I then ordered a duck taco, brisket taco, and a side of Grippo Fries with smoked mayo. I'd never tried duck but that taco was smack-a-lackin'. The brisket taco was also good, and the fries were fantastic - sweet and spicy, fresh cut, and crispy. Wife ordered a pork belly slider and truffle fries. She enjoyed the slider but didn't care for the fries - just not her thing. The portions here are large. A side of fries will feed three people. We took a hefty portion of them home, as well as some of the mushrooms. We could've sat there at the bar and spent 3 hours socializing and enjoying a smattering of cocktails - love the setting. Look forward to going back and trying one of the burgers at some point.

Well I'd classify this place as a dive bar in the sense of the word. It's definitely not 4 star…read morenoted and maybe not the best exclusive signage and overall 4 star appeal; but it a diamond in the rough, persa. This place is quaint, nice location (on a corner ) decent seating, not a big outdoor dining area, the bar is long and has the memories of the old day saloon. Now the food; terribly good! Menu isn't extensive but good items and variety that will satisfy anyone's appetite. It was Father's Day but as soon as it opened they were quickly filled with patrons and people kept coming; even waiting to get in. The fries in duck fat were awesome. Since so many baskets of fries like this for a long time. The smoked wings are great, meaty and savory. I had the pork belly tacos; my only disappointment was you only get 2 per order. The fine combination of ingredients were splendid and the pork belly so tender. My wife had the bbq pork sandwich on pretzel bun. Very good tasting and this was with no bbq sauce on it. If you're in the area, do yourself a a favor and stop in. I can't wait to go back ( as we live in southern Indiana) so might be a bit but definitely want to try a few other items.
