My wife and I came for lunch one weekday and had the herbal beef soup with knife cut noodles and the beef stir fry with shanghai noodles. I mostly devoured the stir fry and the shanghai noodles were wonderfully bouncy and chewy. The sauce was also very good - next time I'll take it up a level and try spicy. My wife's herbal soup was great as well but a totally different flavor profile than my stir fry. We shared some fried pork and chive dumplings. They were top notch! Sometimes, you just want a casual quick food with strong flavor, instead of formal restaurant dining. We have been wanting to visit this spot for a while, so we decided to give them a try. Although they didn't have many customer in the inside, the kitchen was in full steam. It seems like they have lots of delivery orders. They only have counter table that goes all the way around. This is a self-service spot, no waiter service. The way you order the noodle dish is to first pick the noodle style, then the preparation style, and finally, choose the level of spiciness. I went with Ribbon Noodles, Spicy Cumin Lamb, and Low spicy. If you are vegetarian, this dish can be made with seitan also. It was a pretty good portion, lots of Ribbon Noodles and chunks of lamb meat which was tender and packed with flavor. The spice level was great for me. Not too spicy but had a little kick to it. My hubby ordered the same thing, but with different style of noodle. He chose Ding Ding Noodles, which is chopped noodles. The Ding Ding noodles are their house favorite, and it can be described as mini Chinese gnocchi. In addition to our noodles, we also ordered Mama's Jumbo Dumplings to share. We chose Pork & Chive. They took a long time to come out, we were almost done with our noodles about the time dumplings came out. They were nice size, but I wouldn't call it "jumbo"...but certainly tasty and filling. Hello, This evening I had a horrible experience at your establishment. I ordered thru seamless a pickup order for traditional stir fry, no spice with chicken. While eating my food I found a piece of aluminum foil in my food. I called the restaurant and made them aware of the issue and upon request sent a picture of what was found in my food. The person on the phone apologized and said they would re make the order and deliver it to my home. After waiting 40 minutes and not receiving my order I called up the restaurant to see if there was a problem. The person informed me that they couldn't get a delivery person to deliver to my home because it was too far. Note: I live a 12 minute walk or a 5 minute drive from your shop. The person further stated if I wanted my food I would need to come pick it up. So let me be clear THIS IS WHERE YOUR ESTABLISHMENT HAD A MAJOR FAIL! To not call the customer and make them aware that you couldn't fulfill the order is unsatisfactory! I then went to the shop and asked for the manager. I was informed that the manager wasn't there. I explained the situation and the guy couldn't even tell me what address they were sending it to. So did they even attempt to deliver it? AGAIN MAJOR FAIL! A small "to go and accept delivery" noodle house. We were brave enough to walk in and have a sit-down dinner. We were not disappointed with the serving size, the quality of our soup and it's reasonable pricing. We picked the place as it worked well with my son who is observing vegan dietary- there are selected options for him. It may not be the best noodles we tried but it was not that bad at all. Its hand pulled noodle style is interesting. I believe this place works very well for delivery service clients. It has for sure special followers. Every time I try a new Handpulled noodle restaurant, I am always dissatisfied, due to my high expectations that I received from this restaurant. Unfortunately, I do not live in Washington Heights anymore but I still crave their Handpulled noodles all the time, quite literally. In fact, if I'm being honest, I used to go to this spot every week on Fridays. I've seen high reviews for "Very Fresh Noodles" and when I tried it, it was okay. Wasn't bad but also wasn't necessarily the best I've had. Also, I've tried the Handpulled noodles at "Big Biang Theory" in downtown OKC, which was very similar to "Very Fresh Noodles" (but a bit less seasoned). Comfort food to the max! Since moving to the area in August, I have ordered the "Beijing Bolognese" with Lagman noodles countless times. It was ok. We ordered to-go and the people were very sweet. There's no place to sit so I'm glad we ordered to-go but there's also no bathroom so diner prepare. However, it did take about 45 minutes for the food to be ready which was 35 minutes longer than was quoted by the nice folks at the counter. I want to love The Handpulled Noodle. I want this to be a great noodle spot that delivers to my building. But after a few years of sporadically ordering from THN, I've never been blown away. I've gotten most of the noodle options - stir fry, all the dapan options under the Native section - plus some sides. The spice level is unpredictable, sometimes "medium" is borderline inedible and sometimes it's like they forgot to add any spice at all. The noodles have a great texture but they're a little thick and get doughy in the sauce. There's always wayyyy too much sauce, so it's more like a soup. The quality of the meat is not great. The beef is always super fatty, like huge chunks of fat that ruin the experience of eating the dish. The sides are fine. Scallion pancakes are too thick and doughy, they taste a bit like raw flour. I wish THN were better - the noodles themselves are ok, but everything else needs work. read more

Tried this Chinese noodle and dumplings place twice. I don't know where all the positive reviews come from. They're inaccurate. The first time I ordered two batches of dumplings. An order of the 6 piece steamed veggie buddha dumplings and 12 of their new crystal shrimp steamed dumplings. When they arrived, they weren't juicy and fresh at all. The shrimp ones were better than the veggie ones by a little bit but they didn't have any fillings apart from shrimp making for a bland, boring eating experience. The veggie ones were incredibly packed with fillings--too much! Overwhelming mish mash of flavors. I couldn't even make out any one taste. It was just too much. The veggies inside were also incredibly dry and sticky and the dough was extremely hard and doughy as if it wasn't cooked right. The flavor was also doughy. The dumpling sauce that came with it was too vinegary and I didn't use it and used my own soy sauce instead. The second night I ordered again, to give them another chance, hoping it would be a better experience but I was wrong again. For my second attempt, I ordered their steamed chicken and chive dumplings and their hand pulled noodles (cut ribbon style) with veggies and chicken. Absolute disappointment! I realise this is a different type of Chinese cuisine but why is their quality so low and why do they use low-quality ingredients? You can taste it. The chicken had a bad taste as if it was old. The noodles tasted like bland school pasta. No effort to bring out any flavor. It made me feel incredibly disappointed that I spent $60+ on food for two nights and received crappy food. People giving this place good reviews must have numb taste buds or have some extremely low standards for food. read more

TLDR: Will fulfill your noodle cravings! Ordered pickup and they took very good care in packing my order. Scallion pancakes could be better. Ask for napkins. Don't pour all the soup into your bowl at once. I ordered from here for lunch online through their website and made my way over to the restaurant. I ordered the build your own noodle soup: With herbal beef soup Ding dong noodles (thing long thick noodles but cup up into more bite sized pieces. They recommended these are best for deliveries. Why idk). And medium spice (I heeded their high spice no refunds warning). I also ordered some scallion pancakes for good measure. I pick up my order and it was a quick grab and go pickup. My food was already bagged up and ready. Upon opening the bag, I realized how much thought went into it. They separated the soup from the components just in case anything gets too soggy, spills etc. I can assume it keeps stuff warmer too. My one regret was not asking for napkins as I didn't find many inside. Before I review everything I do want to recommend that you only pour half the soup broth and eating then adding more later. It can get quite messy! Noodle soup: the broth was fantastic. It had the perfect umami, beefy taste, mixed with various spices. Perfect for lunch The ding dong noodles: chewy, easy to eat and convenient. If I had ordered long noodles it would have been very messy to deal with. This definitely satisfied my noodle craving. Scallion pancake: as much as I wanted to enjoy this I couldn't. The portion was excellent. It definitely filled me up after eating my noodle soup. Even with the hoisin sauce it was hard to swallow. It just tasted like fried dough. I wish the scallions were at least fried in the dough like other places do. There should have been more hoisin sauce as well. I probably wouldn't get this again. Overall everything was great, but not impressive (4/5 stars) the noodles soup here was great and fullfilled my cravings but I can't say the same for the scallion pancakes. The Old Beijing Bolognese / zhajiangmian is excellent too. The soups have nice hearty broths if you're into that. My delivery experience here was fine, and I ordered twice from here to see if it would boost my rating, but both experiences weren't horrible but wasn't fantastic either, hence the neutral three-star rating. I ordered the traditional with veggie ribbon handpulled noodles with low spice and a lychee black tea the first time. Similar to previous reviews the noodles felt a bit doughy, and no matter how much I tried to mix the sauce in the doughy flavor was still there. The second time I tried the Shanghai noodles (non-handpulled) but it tasted pretty similar to my first dish: a bit doughy and uneven.
