Haleem. Peep the lime hiding at 1 o'clock
    Haseeb K.

My mom's friends kept telling her about a food truck that sells amazing haleem at Highway 6 and Voss by Cafe Yasmeen. Then, a few days ago, her cousin told her about the same food truck selling biryani at some festival and how much she enjoyed it. When mom told me about the raving reviews, we decided to go ahead and try both out. The parental unit went and ordered in person. They didn't mention any issues for them in regards to service. The food came in standard black plastic containers, the kind that minimize spillage. Crucial for desi food- whether to contain the stew or lock in the smell. The haleem is GREAT (4/5). I'm super picky considering I've been eating homemade from scratch haleem since basically birth. Careful when opening the lid, the fried onion is piled mad high on top of cilantro and just enough chaat masala (spice powder), with a lime buried in for good measure. This haleem is thick and definitely has that cooked down all day flavor to it. The beef is so tender that it's basically shredded throughout the entire bowl- no large chunks of meat. The lentils have also been pulverized. At first bite, there's a smokey-ness to it that I could not place. Keep going, the flavor gets better with every bite. The biryani though is dragging this place down for me (2/5). The rice is dry and the oil content is out of control. When I finished eating, my plate had a thick sheen from the excess oil. The chicken was cooked well and the spice level was decent. I freely admit that some people like their biryani this way, personally not a fan. It just wasn't anything special compared to other biryanis in town.

I ordered the $20 bottomless mimosas, Lemon Ricotta Pancakes with Fried Chicken, and because I'm indecisive and they were offered a la cart, I ordered a side of Catfish and a side of greens. My friend decided on the chicken and waffles. The food came out in an acceptable amount of time and piping hot. We did have to ask for our beverages and they were quickly brought out. The pancakes were fluffy and delicious, bursting with flavor from the multiple ingredients. I asked for butter but ultimately didn't need it because they were delicious with just a hint of syrup because they were already sweet. They came with 4 chicken wings (flats) which I appreciated because I don't like when the chicken is strips. The chicken wings were seasoned and fried to perfection, as were the catfish strips. Just the right amount of batter and seasoning to be crunchy but still flaky and melt in your mouth delicious. The greens were to die for!!! Cooked perfectly and seasoned to perfection. I added a few dashes of hot sauce and they hit the spot. It reminded me of my childhood and I longed for some good cornbread to sop up the remaining pot liquor . But I digress lol. The restaurant was located in a convenient and easy to find location with plenty of parking. Clean tables and facility. I observed the staff washing their hands multiple times throughout the visit. Overall, everything was excellent and I'll definitely be returning to try other menu offerings. A few things to note: Definitely make a reservation. They do not split checks. It's one check for the entire table so figure it out and make it easy for them. Debit and credit cards only. They also offer Chef Curated Catering experiences and party and event rentals.

I came for Sunday brunch, I came back again to try their oysters and then came a third time with my cousin for their fried pork chops. Baybehh when I tell you everything that I've put in my mouth at this establishment has been phenomenal! For Sunday brunch, we ordered the catfish and grits, oxtails, Now while the food is amazing, I have to be honest the service is not up to par. I've been here three times in the span of a month and the service is extremely slow. They appear to be short staffed most of the times which can be frustrating for customers. I have personally talked to the owner about it and I know it's something that they are actively working on so I hope that things can turn around soon in that department becasue the food literally is that good!

Best Barbecue that you're really going to have to work hard to find (because it has to come to…read moreyou)! Okay, I'm just the end user here for this fantastic barbeque catering company, but I'm really glad someone booked them. The fine folks at Imperial Barbeque brought out some fantastic smoked meats, truly amazing side dishes, and a really delicious dessert to my station to feed volunteers and staff. Let me describe the food in order of appearance on my plate: Barbeque "baked" beans made with Imperial's signature sweet BBQ sauce and chunks of smoky meat. Tender, cut with a fork brisket with a delicious, complex rub and a smoky flavor that comes from "hand cut and split" oak and pecan. Juicy chicken leg quarters with the same smokiness. Excellent sausage with just the right amount of spiciness. Fall off the bone meaty, pork ribs. And, a new take on your standard yellow mustard potato salad: the addition of flavor popping pieces of green olives. I was surprised at how well their tanginess worked. There were about fifty people eating, and everyone was really impressed that all the items they tasted were delicious and of excellent quality. I was not the only person who expressed that this is the some of the best barbeque that they've had. I'll step out on the gangplank and say that I think it's better than Rudy's, Goode Co., and Thelma's. The guys who served, were the guys who smoked the food. I understand that it's mostly staffed by a family that's been competing in Barbecue contests since 1994. They were very personable, aimed to please, and rightfully proud of their product. I was so hooked that I visited the website and found their catering prices quite reasonable starting at 10.50 a person for two meats, two sides, pickle/peppers/onions, and tea & lemonade for 50 to 75 people. So I said that you're really going to have to work hard to find Imperial Barbeque food. You CAN actually find them most of the time at the Sugar Land Farmers Market on Saturdays from 9am to 1pm. I say most of the time with the exception of when they're competing in a contest somewhere. They came to me this evening so I'll go be going to them on some Saturday in the near future. My Tip: Thought I forgot the dessert? Mmmm good, Peach Cobbler. Make sure to order it for your next catering event.

I will definitely use Jorge and his Imperial BBQ crew again, and I would recommend them highly to anyone else.

I ordered "The Convention" breakfast which was "Scrambled Eggs, Bacon, Sausage, Breakfast Potatoes and Buttermilk Biscuits" - it came with literally 20 tiny sausage patties and biscuits total. So one tiny sausage and biscuit per person. I didn't count the bacon but it was a similarly stingy portion. No one had more than two pieces. The eggs were bland. The potatoes were actually good. But overall, it was so embarrassing to have the food show up and it be these tiny trays of hardly any food for over $400. I would have been better off ordering individual dishes for each person from a local restaurant. I thought with the high Yelp and Google reviews I saw, this would be a safe bet! I also ordered a 20 mini pastries for $3.25 each which were like pastries you get at a 7/11. At least if you are overcharging, let the food be good and not like you unwrapped pastries from a Costco haul. Worst of all was the coffee which was watered down and disgusting. Everyone threw theirs out so I just dumped it. What an utter waste of money. Also they only sent 8 cups with the coffee even though the breakfast was for 20. Stingy and bland all around. If you are catering for a small group, please save yourself the trouble and embarrassment and just order takeout from a local restaurant. I wish I took pictures of the spread but I was just too upset. All I took was the coffee which you can tell even from the picture was watery. ***The menu listed the items but didn't say only 1, 1oz piece of bacon per person - that's absolutely absurd for a normal breakfast portion. Who would cater one piece of bacon per person?

I loved the food and munched on it like a starving kitten. Pandemic hits and it severely limits my ability to go to places, but I still had the old flyer. I called the order in ahead and ordered a shrimp poboy for myself, a fish one for my husband and a chicken pasta for my mother. First things first, as its technically a catering company and due to restrictions with dine in service in Fort Bend County, I don't know if the inside will ever be meant for dining service. It seems it's meant mostly for pick up, but on the other hand restaurants are operating differently with the pandemic, so I can't say for sure. Now the food. Portions are huge. Our poboys were large enough that we split them to taste the other person's meal. I felt they were some of the best poboys, I've had. Probably the only better ones are the ones from New Orleans and that's high praise as it's New Orleans influenced dining. If you want to know, I think the fried fish poboy slightly edged out the shrimp poboy. I felt the taste of the shrimp at times got lost, whereas the fish poboy and all of the other components were balanced. However, it's such a slight difference in terms of taste, that you're not losing out if you're eating the shrimp poboy. But if you are eating with someone and they don't mind sharing, I do recommend swapping half your poboy. For my mother's meal, as a picky old lady, she was content, and that's rare. It was a lot of food, it came with vegetables and corn bread. She ate it and didn't complain. To me that's high praise. The only real "knock" as that while the bread pudding is good, I know you can get better bread pudding elsewhere. Also, as it seems to be a start up business, drink options are also limited. However, I think with time there will be more drink options/ As for the bread pudding, people are either going to agree with me or not. It's still good, but I don't think that's the highlight of this caterer/restaurant. The main dishes are what makes this place unique and I'd come here for those dishes or consider this place for events like weddings and bigger parties. The food is good enough to make everyone happy and if it's for a wedding or birthday party it's not like you'll need their dessert as wedding/birthday cakes tend to be ordered at bakeries. Definitely try it, and send me a note if you agree.
