It turns out they were here all getting food from none other than Al Mankal Grill, a longtime bookmark and one of the gems of Sugar Land. They're in good company, as there are multiple Halal trucks, serving different cuisines and specializing in all kinds of food. The local following is impressive, but seeing as they have a perfect rating across different platforms, they're clearly doing something right. I ordered the beef and lamb chunks, a $27 (with tax) which had the perfect amount of char with just a hint of smokiness. Despite the price, I was floored at how delicious it was. The chicken shawarma arabi ($12) is a popular choice, while the mixed grill ($18) provides some variety between the meats. The chicken skewer ($6) and lamb with fat ($7) were both outstanding. The guy behind the window was friendly and dealt with every customer in a long line with ease. Credit cards are most definitely accepted and the wait for the food ended up being somewhere around 20 minutes. Unlike the other food trucks, they actually have outdoor seating with a few (albeit janky) picnic tables. This spot will become one of my most frequent when I'm in the area.

They were running out of chicken shawarma meat and charcoal wasn't operating properly so that is something to consider when reading my review.. the food was good, but just "good". It's operated by younger chefs and they managed to make the food taste like it came out of a Palestinan grandmas kitchen BUT the shawarma is not like the typical rotisserie shaved meat with garlic toum in flatbread. It has its own distinct flavor/ sauce/ style of cooking. The smoky flavor in the rice is exceptional, pretty unique! Solid hummus as well. If you want that rotisserie type, toasted sandwich flavor with a skewer of juicy tender meat on the side, hit up Al Mankal food truck, also Palestinan owned. They can't be beat. P.S. located in Moosa Colony, in the Chevron lot. Food takes time! I'd say twice the time/ estimate they give.

We ordered the Chicken Boti, Haleem, Meethi Puri, fresh Salad, Pani Puri Shots, and a Mint Lemonade Slushie. The Chicken Boti was juicy, flavorful, and perfectly charred, while the Haleem was rich, creamy, and comforting. The Pani Puri Shots were crispy, tangy, and fun to enjoy, and the ice-cold Mint Lemonade Slushie was the perfect refreshing drink to complete the meal. Everything was perfect once again. If you're looking for delicious and authentic Pakistani food in Sugar Land, DDK Kabab and Grill is definitely worth checking out!

Other honorable mentions: philly cheese subs (both beef and chicken, depending on your preference), beef kabab wrap, crispy chicken burger, and you must absolutely get their fries to share (or not to share, whatever floats your boat). Honestly, haven't had any issues with any of their entrees. Just a tip that fries actually are crispier if you dine-in instead of taking to-go. They also have catering service, which is great for when hosting for my Muslims friends and knowing everything I order from Busy Boy's are halal. I haven't tried their crepes but my friends love it here and always recommend it. There was a time over the Summer when I would randomly find hair but I realized it's one of the workers who kept scratching his head with food-prepped gloves. Haven't had any issues lately since then but just a headsup. I've been coming here for years and it's really a good option if you want food that doesn't take forever, halal, and just laid back atmosphere. Just please clean up after yourself to clear the table for the next guest. If you ever get a combo (with fries and a drink), I highly suggest the lemon-lime at their soda fountain but just try a bit of everything if it's your first time.

We met up with some friends who are vegetarians and come here a lot. They recommended so many dishes that we didn't need any meat for our evening meal. We ordered sweet and sour veggies, Alings vegetable fried rice, and garlic veggies (that were spicy). If you like spice and garlic, you'd like that one. We also ordered some veggie noodles. The portion sizes are very large, so it was enough to share for four grown people and still have enough to take some home. And the food does not lack flavor! Everything tasted great. And for appetizers we ordered corn soup, hot and spicy soup, and steamed dumplings. The service was great, friendly and efficient. The food does not take long to come out. If you have a large party, this is a great place to go, or for a party of one or two, they have small tables to accommodate as well. I am more accustomed to the original location in Energy Corridor but had to stop by Flip 'n Patties in Sugar Land. The layout of the restaurant is a bit different with the Sugarland location having a bar. Originally I was stopping in for the pop up event but thought why not give the food a visit too. From my experience in the past I knew just what to order: Flip 'n Patties burger and Flip 'n Fries. The burger comes with regular fries but you can upgrade it for an additional charge. The Flip 'n Patties burger, is a monstrosity of a handheld. Soft steam buns, angus patty, classic lettuce, tomato, that special sauce, and stuffed cheese portabella mushroom. The Flip 'n fries are loaded cheese, special sauce and had the pork on top. What can I say? It's messy, cheesey, big bite, multiple napkins, fork optional and just a what you want to fill you up. It's a big boy/girl meal, so better come hungry haha. Overall the visit to Flip 'n Patties was very positive. The staff and service are great. Family friendly but definitely can be your local neighborhood spot if you want a great burger or a way to get your Filipino food craving too. My only take was just the wait time for the food but the restaurant was packed nicely as well. I would not mind a wait for great things like these on the menu. But just my observation since I was dining alone. Recommend, yes but good things come to those who want wait.

It brings the same elements as their uber popular Energy Corridor location (#1) yet this has somehow become my favorite location. The place is spacious, equipped with extensive indoor and outdoor seating. There is a full bar and a number of families and different groups during peak times throughout the night. Some folks are busy singing karaoke, playing their arcade games, or stuffing their faces (#1). In short, the food is bangin. Their jeepney wagyu burger is both sweet and salty, with the added indulgent texture of a runny egg yolk. Despite the giggle worthy name, their pupu chicken has been one of the best things on the menu. Their large cut fries have been a serious part of my addiction, which has been crispy and well seasoned. the entire time, but I especially enjoy them here. In order to get my fix of mostly everything I order the mini kamayan ($35) and call it a day. I'm also obsessed with their watermelon and mango frescas. While I love them in cocktail form, even the non-alcoholic versions are fantastic. I wish they served them by the pitcher, but I'd likely clean that out as well. The service is outstanding. Don and Angie have always been wonderful ambassadors of their community and have employed a good amount of staff that keep up the energy and deliver great service with a smile.
