OMG!!!! They came to Canada!!!! Idk if anyone feels as excited as I am, simply cuz they are one of my must-have meals in NYC every time i visit. Not only are they in Canada, but they now have a location in Heartland, Mississauga! Not a food truck, but an actual standijg store. They've been opened for a while, and ive been getting mixed reviews from people. So of course I had to go try it for myself. Looking at the menu, not only do they have the classic chicken and gyro, they also have falafel, sides and dessert options. I like their platters. Their falafel was really good. Infamous white sauce is amazing as usual. They have really good fries. The hot sauce was a lot spicier than I expected. You can add toppings to your salad like olives, jalapeños etc. But not being a food truck kinda takes away that experience and its no longer that food truck cheap eats lol but regardless i enjoyed the food. Just not what I was expecting!

Regular platter

The regular platter comes with rice, pita, meat, veggies, sauces and is worth the $12.99. The chicken sandwich was just fine and nothing outstanding. What I was disappointed was side of falafal which seemed just $1.5 however they are so so tiny that $0.75 each is not worth. Overall this is a good place. Barely any time for takeout.

Chicken platter with rice, lettuce, tomato's, olives, onions, tahini, garlic sauce, hot sauce and 4 pitas

Food: Regular chicken platter with lettuce, tomato, olives, onions, rice, chicken, garlic sauce, tahini, hot sauce & four mini pitas along with a @mcdonalds passion fruit smoothie as a drink. The Heartland Town Centre mall has a great selection of food choices but Halal Guys has to be top of the list. The food is always fresh and cooked to perfection. Staff are very generous with sauce and toppings, no need to ask for more. The location is quite busy, but not a long wait. If you decide to order off of @ubereats, staff place the sauces on the side so the food doesn't get soggy. The drink in the picture is the passion fruit smoothie from @mcdonald's. Small Combo Platter without salad

I've seen so much buzz around The Halal Guys and I've been wanting to try it for a while now. I came to this location around 11:30am on a Friday and it was not busy so I was served right away. The staff were friendly and helpful in any questions I had since it was my first time there. I ordered the small Combo Platter (chicken & beef gyro) without the salad so it was just meat on rice. The chicken and beef were tasty and fresh. Sadly, that's the only thing I can compliment (food wise). The white sauce was said to be a mayonnaise based sauce with spices. It was just okay.. I really wish they had a garlic sauce as well.. especially since I don't add hot sauces. I agree with another reviewer, that it's missing that "zing". I think a strong garlic sauce would work wonders here. They slathered on the white sauce over my meal, which I thought would have been a bit excessive. But it actually helped a lot because the rice was very dry and bland. No flavour what so ever. I was almost expecting it to be rich in flavour since the colour of the rice was so bright. They also added 4 pieces of pita, which in my opinion, served no purpose. It was dense (more like a naan than a pita), room temp, and flavourless. It didn't add to the meal, especially with the dry rice. If this were a thinner pita that they warmed up, then that would have complimented the meal better. For this small platter, it came up to just under $12 CDN. I don't think I would come back because I can get more food (with more flavour), for less money elsewhere (like Osmows, Pita & Grill, Lazeez).

OK !! We have a franchise for the latest sensation on street food outlet here "The Halal Guys" in Mississauga. This place is easy to locate on GPS and it's open till 2 am. This is a proper restaurant outlet unlike the original outlet at NEWYORK City. We reached the place at around 09:00 pm and shocked to see that the outlet was deserted unlike what I thought the place would be. Thankfully there was no Wait. We ordered the famous chicken over rice with a lot of White sauce and a pinch of red sauce as well. The taste of the dish as expected was very OK which was a major drawback. Though the food was not warm enough, the taste was NO WAY matching the taste at their New York outlet. The staffs looked confused at this outlet and were charging for the sauce packets unlike the original outlet. I ordered the hot sauce as a side and not to be put on top of the dish. When i came home and checked there was no side in my package. In short this is the first outlet which has compromised on food quality and taste across the different branches I have tasted from this chain. Definite MISS guys.

Chicken Platter (medium) post-mixing

Good portions and acceptable price range. Most people would be satisfied with the medium size option. The taste is okay, not especially good and not worth the hype. But the presentation of the food is clean and they don't overload you with garlic sauce. It was pleasing to eat (although I always mix it so it looks like shit afterwards). Everything is balanced - salad, meat, flat bread and rice all come in around the same sizing so you won't get tired of any item. Unlike other Shawarma places, their platters are not as oily so I didn't get food coma after. This rather new location has enough seats and could be pretty empty at times. It's clean and comfortable to dine in. However, taste-wise is okay. Nothing special, and I've had better meat. I'd come here again if I want a well-organized and balanced meal of Shawarma. If I want on-the-rocks or "just meat no bs" I'd go lazeez still.

The quality of the food really isnt comparable with other middle eastern food in the area. Its not terrible but i just dont feel my small size meal was worth $15.

I asked for a heads up written on the order if theres dairy so i can take meds to enjoy the meal. They obliged and let me know accordingly.

Came here after hearing so much buzz on social media, especially after the Toronto location opened too so I was excited to hear when the Mississauga location opened up. I should have read some reviews from fellow Yelpers first before I went. We ordered a small ($10.50) chicken platter and a large ($13) chicken and beef gyro platter. The small was a good size and more than enough food for me. In short, I was disappointed and didn't finish my food. I thought the chicken lacked flavour, the popular white sauce was bland and the rice was dry. I don't understand the hype. The beef gyro had more flavour but the white sauce actually dampened its flavour. I went back to the counter and bought some hummus in hopes it would add more flavour and although it tasted fresh I also found it bland it did nothing in terms of adding flavour either. The staff is nice though and the place is clean. One lady came around to the tables and asked if we wanted more white sauce - she added more to my food but it confirmed what I thought already. I wouldn't return and I wouldn't recommend this place to my friends. They are in serious need of some garlic sauce I think to really pack a punch of flavour. There are so many other places that offer similar food and platters that there's need to go to this place in my opinion.

Gyro and chicken plate.

Never heard about this chain until they opened a location in Mississauga and I'm glad they did. The place is a little small but very clean and the interior reminds me of a five guys. The menu is very limited, basically gyro with chicken or falafel in either a plate or wrap. Regardless, the food is great, the meats are soft and tender and go well with the rice and sauce. Plus, you have to try their fries, I have no idea how they prepare it, but its absolutely delicious when freshly made. Hot and crispy on the outside and soft warm on the inside. They also have baklavas for dessert but I found them too sweet for my taste and bigger than they should be. Overall a decent place to get schwarma on the go.

Chick and beef gyro platter (small)
A J.

This place is tucked in the back of a plaza in Heartland and took me a few seconds to find. Maybe that's a good thing because the food here is really nothing special. The hunt for this place was more exciting than the food itself. The beef gyro seasoning is quite salty. The pita pieces are embarrassingly small. The white sauce is on the salty side too. The hot sauce has something like tamarind in it - while it is spicy, I've never seen tamarind in hot sauce before (kudos for trying to be different, but poorly executed). The quantity of beef/chicken to rice is disappointing. The rice is alright, but it's difficult to royally screw rice up. So kudos to Halal Guys for not screwing up rice. For a total cost of $11.29 (small, beef+chicken platter, no drink) I could've gone to chipotle or any other fast food place and had something more nutritious and filling. There really isn't anything to "like" here. It's mediocre at best, and will not be a go-to spot for me in the future. There's much better elsewhere. I didn't *hate* it, hence the 2-star rating. It should really be like 1.5 stars. Extremely disappointing to have Taco Bell quality meat with corporately sourced yellow rice. They also put a criminal amount of tomatoes and lettuce (1:1 with the rice) and after the sodium spike from everything else these were refreshing. I never thought I'd see the day I'd say lettuce was "refreshing". Now excuse me while I try to lower my blood pressure.

Chicken wrap
Juan P.

Hi Yelpers! So, post shift hunger. Decided to give Halal Guys another chance. My first take on them was when my sibling brought home a chicken platter. I wasn't impressed because the rice was dry, lack of flavour in all components of the dish. I was disappointed and was left hungry. Today I come back for possible salvation but another disappointment. This time I got the chicken wrap with the ultimate meal which gives me a decent amount of fries which you can opt out for baklava and you get a fountain drink. So, my thoughts are that I enjoyed the bread because it was light and fluffy. The rest went downhill. I was unsure what the taste was.. I was like.. "is this suppose to be a Shawarma? A Greek wrap? Confused. There was a lot of white sauce but didn't do justice. If it is there garlic sauce then they need to improve it... take it up a notch. It chicken was okay? To be honest it was tasteless. The o my think I tasted was the onions. The French fries is commercial.. no complaints. The fountain drink... how can you go wrong... love my Coke. Anyways, all in all... I don't get what the hype is about and why it's so popular in the United States. Service was great. Lovely lady at the store front who served me. The price is appropriate for the size you are getting. So I highly recommend they fix the flavours.. If you decide to eat here... there is ample room. Parking is good too. Lots of empty spaces to park.

Finally Mississauga has something others don't have. If you have heard or been to this chain in Toronto or NYC where they originated, then you know The Halal Guys. Recently opened at the Heartland Town Centre in Mississauga, the interior is bright and open with lots of seats. I really liked their gyro and chicken platters which comes in a dish full of veggies and rice, and topped off with their famous garlic white sauce. Not too salty and just perfect. The falafels were crispy and perfect as well. A great alternative to spending hundreds of dollars on going to New York for sure.

He said that's just the way it is, and it's only a $2 difference. When we asked him for a feedback number, he told us we were being rude for asking about the price difference when it was so minimal and then claimed that there was no beef so we should just take the chicken or leave as he had other customers to attend to and didn't want to serve us anymore. Quite frankly I was scared about what he would do to our food at this point anyways. There were other customers in the line who were wondering what had happened and asked us, he told us not to talk to them. He told us we were free to contact their head office but wouldn't give us his name, or the owner's name or the complaint line. Just said, "you have a phone, go online and figure it out". Then told us that we were free to leave a review online on yelp. Completely unacceptable behaviour to treat customers so poorly and try to flip on us telling us we were the ones being rude for asking him to honour the item and price listed on their board. Will never go there again. Contacted their customer service via online form, no one has reached out and it's been 2 weeks now. Went to Osmosis and got much better treatment and food!

The family was actually sitting down to dinner at the end of the day when I arrived approximately an hour before close. It was wonderful to see them eating together. He accommodated that and allowed me to order a single falafel patty to try. I was stuck between choosing the Palmyra Platter or the Mixed Shawarma plate because, as I said, I like to try several items. I ended up choosing the mixed shawarma plate and ordered it as is. The falafel was crispy and I could taste the herbs mixed in. The sauce drizzled over the top was the perfect addition. I was so glad I tried it. I was so eager to taste it that I forgot to get a photo. I chose the mixed shawarma plate thinking it would be a more manageable serving for me to finish than the Palmyra platter. I was sorely mistaken. It was easily enough food for at least 2 people. This was well worth the price point. The salad was fresh and crispy with a good variety of vegetables in it. I really enjoyed the vinaigrette they used for it as well; just tangy enough. The chicken and beef were crispy on the outside and tender inside. They had good flavor and were not dry at all. The spicy potatoes were a tad spicy for me but I still ate them. The rice was ok in my opinion. I had enough left over to eat a second time. I will definitely visit here again on a subsequent trip so I can try more of their menu items. Overall this was a good experience for me.
