The place was clean, both in front of the line and behind it, and I can really appreciate that. I got the spicy chicken sandwich, and it was easily one of the tastiest things I've had in a long time. Paid 69 cents for an extra packet of white sauce so that there would be enough sauce on every spoon of food scooped out of the combo platter and also for dipping the pita bread in. So Yummy, and well worth it! To end a good meal on a sweet note, the Baklava would do the job right. We first tried the Halal guys in NYC in early 2000 and loved it. We discovered Jones Fried Chicken when we moved to Houston and thought the taste and portion size were similar to Halal guys. I was in the neighborhood and decided to give this a try. I was greeted as soon as I entered and saw 4 employees working on a Friday at 2:30 pm. I was the only customer and got 2 regular platters: 1 chicken and 1 gyro beef. Half of the container was filled with lettuce and some tomatoes, then 3 scoops of rice in orange color, 2 scoops of protein and 4 pieces of triangular pita. She drizzed white sauce and added some onions. I didn't add any hummus when the lady asked if I wanted some. It was $9.69 for regular and $8.69 for a small platter. It was a quick transaction, in and out in less than 10 minutes. Pretty efficient! We had high expectation of the food as we had fond memories. Rice were a bit too hard and meat were too salty. My husband was still hungry after finishing his portion as he said he would like more rice. We actually weighed the container before we ate. My husband wasn't satisfied and decided to order Jones Fried chicken for dinner. Yes, he can eat the same thing again. Based on this experience, we concluded we got a better value (whole 5 oz more food) and quality of food at Jones than Halal guys. I used The Halal Guys' Westheimer location to cater for a group of 65 people. They packed up the food in individual "platters" or bowls. They have falafel, chicken, beef, and combo options. The staff was friendly and it was very easy to call and place the order. They called the morning of the event for payment. You can pick-up or have the food delivered. FINAL UPDATE.. Contacted the lovely HALAL guys customer service team through email. I tried explaining my situation and informed them that I paid CASH. Then the agent asked me for a " bank statement " to prove the transaction. I replied told him that I paid cash so there was no bank statement to provide. After that he stopped replying to my emails. The automated response system for this company will probably reply to my review, but I am not interested in reaching out again just to get ignored.
