Came here today for a haircut! Walked in and the lady asked me what she could help me with. I told her that I wanted to wash and then cut my hair, which she did without hesitation. Very kind lady! Did a great job on shampooing my hair and the cut. She made sure of what I wanted before moving on. I'm not sure about others, but I like going to a place where the stylist doesn't talk a lot. That way they focus on my hair and I get my peacefulness. It's not like she didn't talk at all. She did make small conversations, but haircuts tend to make me sleep (in a good way), so I wasn't all that talkative. Price is good! $25 for the haircut, hair wash, blow drying, and styling. Asked for a certain hair color and was told it would not look good on me and would not put on hair. Had the Brazilian Blowout that really stung/burned my scalp. Was told that happens and will go away when they blow dried it. Stinging went away but never should have been so painful in the first place. Do not recommend. read more

Ever since I started going here in eighth grade, it's been the only shop I ever want to go to. All the employees are so friendly and do wonderful jobs. While it is an Asian salon, they are able to do good fades for guys with short hair styles. My cousin (female) got her hair done here too and it turned out fantastic. Great prices too!!! read more

I've came here 2 times when I first moved to Kent. My first time I came, I got my haircut by the owner. I didn't like the way she cut my hair because she has rough hands. After she was done she kept trying to make me buy product and pushing to get a Brazilian blow out. I said no thank you various times and she got upset. Next time I came, I went to Viet. The only guy who cuts hair there. After reading good reviews of his hair cutting skills on Yelp and Google I figured why not try him. So I did. He's super good and I enjoy how he cuts my hair! Unfortunately they always need to straighten your hair. I don't like that because last time I went that really ruined my hair. The owner didn't talk to me. I think because I said no to product buying and Brazilian blow out last time I went. Today when I went, I of course wanted to get my hair cut with Viet. I made a 5:30 appointment to see him. At 5:40 the owner said she'll cut my hair because he can't anymore. I said ok...well can you cut it like this (showed her a pic)? She said yes, do you want a wash? I said no thank you. Then she said I have to straighten your hair. I said oh no thank you, I don't want heat on my hair. Can you cut it wet, please? And then she got an attitude and said well, it's not my fault if it comes out uneven. I got up and said oh ok, no thank you then. She laughed and said something in her language. I've been to other places where they cut hair with water and no heat at your request. And my hair didn't come out uneven at the place I used to go in Burien. The two star is for Viet. *Tip. You shouldn't say your hair might come out uneven to a client. read more

This review is for using a Groupon voucher for a full foil, cut, condition, & style. For the haircut from Viet, I would give it a 5 stars. For the hair highlight I would have given it a 3 stars. - Called and made an appointment on a weekday, the owner said its always busy and hectic on a weekend so if you can set it up on a weekday you will be better off. - They work quickly but are efficient. They also let me know up front that they are going to charge me 40$ extra for my long length (the length was about to my bro strap)... So I was slightly bummed about that but was understanding of it... I've used other groupon vouchers before (for different salons) and they didn't charge me for this, and I feel like if they plan to charge you extra for longer hair than put that on the fine print details... Because it's slightly Misleading, you kind of have no other choice but to pay the extra.... But I do appreciate that they tell you upfront rather than the end. ***Viet was the person who cut my hair. He is very skilled , polite, and a perfectionist. He uses very sharp scissors and made sure your hair is cut perfectly, after he shampooed my hair and straightened it, he went back a second time to snip off any uneven strands he may have missed making sure my hair cut was perfectly. I asked for an inch to be cut off, to get rid of split end, the nice thing he does is uses the mirror and will show you the length he will cut but won't do it until you give him the green light.... I definitely appreciate his communication on making sure we were on the same page. My hair is so much lighter and healthier. - The owner, I'm unsure what her name is, was the one who did my highlights, she seemed nice enough. This is why I'm giving it a 4 stars instead of 5. I am not completely in love with my highlights... But I don't hate them. They are a little too warm of a tone, but I did not want to put up with the hassle in letting her know that... She said she did not use straight up bleach but a combination of bleach and toner... So when they removed the foil and I saw the color I was okay with it but not thrilled and I didn't want to get charged extra for another processing fee to get it toned down to a more ash blonde tone. With that said... It's foiling so although she was methodical and fast about it. I although wished she was more mindful where she placed the highlights. - She also was suggesting me to do the Brazilian blow out and said it would cost me $180 to do. The brochure made it seem like magic (I was tempted to say yes), beautiful hair for 3 months then it's back to split ends and tangles and less shine.... So I did some online research about this and the chemicals that they use for it is some what toxic and may cause hair to fall out. So I'm glad I didn't do it. It's too expensive anyway, especially if you go to do it every 3 months... And I don't want my hair to fall out. I know that coloring your hair is bad also but I only do it once or twice a year. Maybe it would be worth it if your hair is naturally really frizzy... But if you have naturally straight hair with damaged ends coz of coloring it too much, just cut the damaged hair off and start fresh. It's healthier for your hair that way I think and happier on your wallet. Hope this review helped. *UPDATE* 3 days after I wrote this review. I washed out my hair and my highlights are super orange/yellow and brassy. Very annoyed because they charged me an extra 40$ to avoid just that. Going to have to get a toner to fix the problem. I would not recommend getting your hair colored here. I originally rated this place a 4, because the hair stylist who cut my hair was fantastic but the main reason I went was to get highlights and they did a terrible job with that. read more

First of all, this is absolutely NOT Mimi's Hair Solutions, which doesn't cut or color hair. So, while it's confusing, know that this salon DOES cut and color hair and also does Brazilian blowouts. (While a website is being developed, one does not yet exist at this time. This means that if you search the internet, Mimi's will come up. Since they're located on the same street, this can be very confusing. This salon is right before the Fred Meyer as one is going south on 240th. The salon's sign, while small, is on the strip mall's board.) I called because Groupon had this salon listed, but didn't know whether to get a full or partial foil. When I called, Aimee suggested that I come in and she would let me know - and that she would give me the Groupon price without me having to purchase it. She happened to have had a cancellation, so I was able to get in about 45 minutes later. Aimee suggested a full foil. While not too surprising, it made sense since the weather's been pretty warm and if I wanted to wear my hair up, my dark hair would show and look somewhat odd. She also suggested, at a $30 upcharge, coloring my gray. I thought it was too much for just a bit of tint near my temples, but Aimee rightly convinced me that I should color all my roots so that the underlying color would be uniform. So, basically, for $90, I got a full foil, haircut (including shampoo and conditioner, twice), root touchup, and style. She assured me that, if I returned, my cost for an additional hair cut and foil would not be too much more than the Groupon price due to my hair type. She did mention that she most definitely would need to charge more for thicker and/or longer hair, however. Her assistant, a young man called V (a very dapper-looking 20 something), washed my hair and did the root coloring. He speaks very little English, but is good at what he does. However, his manipulating one's chin etc. while at the shampoo bowl may be a bit disconcerting to those more used to someone just telling them what to move as opposed to moving it for them. Aimee's very friendly and patiently explains why she's recommending what she's recommending to you. She is also very accommodating and offered me water, tea, etc. several times when I was there. Most important, everything was really nicely done. She was also very fast, with the foils taking less than an hour to put into my medium length hair. (The longest amount of time was spent waiting for the color on my touchup - a good 45 minutes! So be prepared for that; something totally beyond her control.) read more

Viet was doing my hair. I called to schedule a hair appointment, and I was given a time to come in. I called to inform Viet that I was running late. When I got there, Aimee told me that Viet did not won't to do my hair anymore. I asked why and I was told that he just doesn't to do my hair anymore. As an African American, I was lost for words trying to find out what is it that I did for him to not want to do my hair anymore. Anymore, Aimee did my hair. This was so unprofessional and rude. I have my hair service at this place for almost a year. The owner is very pleasant and professional. So does the young man who cut my hair. One time, my hair color was too blond . I called the owner and she took me in the next day to fix it. The young man who cut my hair perfectly. I got compliments about my hair cut a lot I'm happy with the service that I have received from this place. Even though it is far from my home, I don't mind to come there to have my hair done. So I bought a groupon for a cut, style, wash and partial highlights. I ended up having to pay an extra $20. They said it was for the cut (my hair was super long) and to use the straightener, but I thought it was all included in the groupon. Anyways, after Amy and Vi finished my hair, I was more than happy to pay the $20 and $5 tip to each of them. They are not only talented at what they do, but they have great customer service. I'd go here again. My hair got cut shorter than I wanted, but that's cuz I'm always afraid to go short. That day, I just walked out and reminded myself it'll grow back. read more

Vi is amazing, best haircut I've ever had! I have a lot of hair, very thick too, and he made it have lots of movement, and perfect framing, I have never been able to achieve a nice fringe most hairstylist would say it doesn't work with my hair texture as it's also curly but he was able to cut me the cutest bangs! The worst salon ever. They dont have good customer service. I dont even know how it got positive reviews. Stay away. The stylist was so rude. I need it good gray coverage . I shared my concerns of what i want and asked to give me suggestions. She talked over everything I told her and in the end did her own thing. She freaking charged me me for $120 for what she calls it full gray coverage. so much hair had been cut off in various lengths, My hair doesn't even look it's been colored right. There gray is everywhere. she kept telling me "i have a lot hair". My hair is so fine and just curly. At the end i told her i wanted bangs. She complained about the bangs i requested. She cut it my hair to short. which left me with a large bill. Now I am waiting 6-12 months for my hair to be back to normal. I didnt want to risk it being worse than it was and decided never to come back. make sure you get someone that listens to what you want and has experience with different kinds of hair. read more

Okay so I have had both good and bad experiences here. My first time I went and got the brazzilian blowout because I have thick, curly and frizzy hair. When it was done she spent so long trying to sell me different products and I was weak and agreed. The products were cheap and smelled terrible so that was a lot of money wasted. It did look great when I left the salon though and I was amazed on how it looked. The blowout was supposed to last 3 months but even though I followed all of the rules, it lasted MAYBE a month. I was very disappointed. Over time I have gone back there and V does the best hair cuts I have ever had. He is a perfectionist and won't do anything before you agree to it. He will also give you a mirror and show you where he is going to cut before he does to make sure he doesn't accidentally go too short. If only he did my hair, I would be giving this review 5 stars. A few days ago I convinced my aunt to come with me to get her hair cut. I made a 12:00pm and a 12:30pm appointments with V for 2 hair cuts. We went in 10 minutes early and only Amee was there. She was completely surprised to see us and when I told her that we had appointments she said that she forgot to write them down and she had 3 other clients right now. She told us to come back in an hour and walked away. This was very rude and since we drove half an hour to get here, we couldn't just go back home. By the time we got back she was ready for us and I told her that our appointments were with V and she said "He not here today". We were very upset and she clearly knew on the phone because she said he had been sick for a few weeks. My haircut turned out fine but not great and my aunts was nothing like she asked for and Amee didn't even cut her bangs which she asked her to do and were clearly overgrown. I ended up trimming them for her when we got back and she like her bangs better then her haircut. Not sure if I will go back there anymore. read more
