Her layers are dramatic but blend well, and she makes my full/heavy Asian hair feel so light that I'm able up keep it longer than ever before. I'm also able to curl my hair in half the time now, which is SO amazing. I wanted wedding hair that looks good in the sun without looking processed and she totally nailed it. My hair was over processed by the colorist. I understand accidents happen, but this was handled horribly by the colorist and the owner. My hair was very stringy and stretchy when dry and broke off every day, it was bad. I had to cut it all off. The really sad part about all of this was ignored by the girl who colored my hair and I was essentially salon-style gaslighted. "Oh, that's normal. I told you it's normal for your hair to be more elastic when wet" and over all, nobody seemed concerned or empathetic about the state of my hair.. In the salons defense, they didn't see with their own eyes how much hair looked - maybe the colorist didn't realize at first what had happened. However, judging by the dialogue from the owner, I didn't think they would be sympathetic to my case and now I know for sure they wouldn't have been. Seems like they had a customers always wrong model.. so I basically told them what happened and they said it was normal... It would have been helpful if she had been like "oh, why don't you come in and I'll check the state of your hair. We can see if it was over processed by accident and then find out how to move forward". They had kinda already decided I was just over reacting. I guess you sort of have to take my word for it, but my hair wasn't in good shape. The breakage was out of control and it was ELASTIC AF. Not to mention looked fried as hell. It also ended up a few shades lighter than the picture so I was assuming she left the bleach in too long. I previously wrote a google review explaining what happened and the owner effectively accused me of lying about everything and it was pretty funny that a business owner would act like that. Some people really only care about money and leave their compassion at the door. How would you like it if your previously extremely healthy hair was ruined by a salon after paying upwards of $300 out of the door? I never asked for a refund or even wanted my money back.. I can make more money, but it's taken me a long time to grow my hair back out. And to the owner- please don't accuse me of lying. I have no motivation to hurt your business out of sheer boredom. If you'd have done my hair, that would be one thing, but you weren't even in the salon when I got it done. Nobody's perfect and mistakes happen and it's part of having a business. If you aren't able to stand up for the client and take care of them even when it goes against your pride, that's poor management. I was going to leave it at the one google review, but after she accused me of lying and gaslighting me, I'm going to be spreading the word. I looked at her other negative reviews and now I'm not shocked by her response to me. Her work is beautiful, and that's why I chose the salon. I think she needs to work on better ways to respond when people are not happy.. She seems low key like a narcissist. The few people who wrote poor Yelp reviews she really didn't treat very well and she sort of shifts blame on to the client. Look, people pay an arm and a leg.. I initially came to Cindy Soung salon because of the high rave on Instagram. I booked my appointment with Kylie. I thought that I would be coming to this salon to get what I'm paying for. Kylie never initially did a consultation with me just asked the history of my hair. I would of thought she would test a small piece of my hair first before beginning w/ doing my hair to see the next level I could go lighter to but she never did that. I already had fine and long hair which at times can be hard to manage so I really didn't want the teasing to my hair because I knew it would be hard to untangle. I really don't feel like Kylie listened to my concerns. We started at 10AM and didn't finish until 6:30PM. I left the salon with VERY damaged hair. Kylie made me feel like it was just because I had fine textured hair and that everything would get better with olaplex treatments. I don't understand why I would have to get olaplex treatments - she should have just brought me up a level that was the safest for my hair. She cut 3"in off of my hair. As the days went by just more hair started melting off of my hair. When I went home I was so scared to brush through my hair. I couldn't even run my fingers gently through it or it would just fall out. It was so bad I couldn't manage my hair at all. When I explained my concerns to Kylie she just kept telling me things would get better & that my hair is vulnerable when wet. This is the worst my hair has ever been. Ive had multiple people look at my hair and they couldn't believe how overly processed my hair is. I've contacted Cindy & she seems to make the same excuses on why my hair is doing what it's doing because I went up 2-3 levels - I didn't ask for that.... I simply asked for what my hair can tolerate. That was obviously too much on my hair. I then had no other choice but to cut a total of 12" off of my hair and now my hair is shoulder length. This is probably the worst experience I've ever had at a salon. I paid $400+ to get what I thought I was paying for and I came to get my hair damaged. I CANNOT believe I haven't written a review for Cindy! Let me start by saying that I booked an appointment with Cindy for a consult for color, then a cut and color when I first moved to Seattle. And while I haven't been back since then, it's not for any reason other than I just can't afford her magical, talents again, yet. But if I were money-bags and didn't live in this expensive-ass city, I'd be splurging on her services all day every day. I'd also like to admit that what first drew me to Cindy Soung was that she was a Guy Tang Hair Bestie. I'd been following Guy Tang on IG for a while and was low-key obsessed. But while that's what caught my attention initially, Cindy is so much more than just a Guy Tang Hair Bestie. Not only is she extremely talented in hair coloring, and cutting, she's hella business savvy and a social media marketing GODDESS. I highly recommend following her on IG so you can see all the amazing work she's done. She's got her own hustle beyond the GTHB crew that sets her apart on her own stage. She's inspiring, smart, and just an all around nice person. Cost-wise, I'm sure you've heard this--but when it comes to your hair, you get what you pay for. And while it's a bit more costly to get your hair done with Cindy, I wouldn't say she over-charges at all. Her costs are completely fair for what you're getting--which is a bomb-ass mane. Scheduling is easy and I highly recommend a consult if you don't know exactly what you're looking for yet. Also, Apple Maps can make her shop location a little tricky to locate, so do your research before you leave! The shop is clean as a whistle, organized and modern. I've meant to leave a review for Cindy sometime now; I sometimes followed on Instagram, and I wanted to schedule an appointment with her sooner, but I was never in town when she had openings. I finally moved back to Seattle, and boy, I am glad I gave her hair salon a chance. She is my go-to person to get my hair done. Also, Caroline, her former assistant now a hairstylist, helped Cindy with my hair, and she is fantastic! Best colorist in Seattle. I've looked far and wide for a good colorist, but most of them made my hair look like an ombre, rather than a natural, seamless balayage. Cindy is a hair genius. I found her through Instagram and I'm so glad that I did. She used to be a colorist in 8th Day Spa in Federal way, but with such a great following, she decided to open her own salon. I've already gone to her two times, and every time I walk out, I can't stop looking at my hair! Initially, I was a bit scared to go warm, so we started off in the middle with an ashy tone. The second time I went in, I was confident that I wanted a warmer tone, and the final result was exactly how I imagined it. I just got the ugliest hair style in my life. When I finally decided to chop my long hair off, I try to look for a good rating salon and I found this. I told her I want to style my hair like layers and bob cuts okay. She's hesitant at first talk me out to some style and said okay let's see. Then she gave me a mushroom look. They were both super honest and walked me through the whole process and I really appreciate that they didn't make any promises to me about the outcome of my hair. They were both really knowledgeable about what we could do that was best for my hair and how to maintain it afterwards. I was there for a long 7 hours but I enjoyed every minute it of it, everyone there is so sweet and I will definitely be coming back and telling my friends and family! Really disappointed in my experience. Had a haircut done and after the style was done, sure my hair was hydrated but it was completely lopsided, too short, and unevenly cut. I cried all the way home knowing it will take years for my hair to grow back. I will be having to resort to a Brazilian blowout to hopefully gain more length and loosen my hair texture. Did not want to get it fixed, after such a negative experience as well. In conclusion, I would recommend getting your hair colored here but I would be careful about getting a trim. Also, I thought it was weird I had to book out two months in advance just for a haircut. Availability is unreliable and don't want to search social media to find out if theirs an opening. read more
