Straight-forward, clear and honest. I called the hackery looking for information. I wanted to know what I could to speed up my old laptop. I was considering more RAM and an SSD - and was willing to buy it from them and pay for labor. The person I spoke with didn't miss a beat. He knew the exact model I was talking about, the specifics of how to update it depending on my existing setup, and was considerate to my level of knowledge about computers. He informed what my best option was, the cheapest way to go about it and never tried to push me to buy anything. He also didn't rush me through the whole thing as many shops will do. Highly recommend these guys from this brief experience. The Hackery!

My refurbished Mac Mini with a new SSD drive and a new external backup drive: Adata. Very cost efficient. A really smart solution.

Good reliable work. Fair prices. Not timewasters. Just wish they had more even more hours open and more selection at a given time.

The store clerk didn't seem to understand what I was asking for; he kept showing me a wrong cable and insisting that it was the right one (it wasn't -- he doesn't seem to understand the difference between a female USB and a male USB, which is not rocket science, and he also didn't understand the difference between a data transfer cable and OTG). It took me five times explaining to him before he actually listened instead of just patronizing me as if I didn't know what I was asking for. I would not come here again unless 1) I wanted someone to talk to me like I was a toddler or 2) I want to talk to someone who ignores all the words coming out of my mouth and just waits his turn to reiterate the same thing based on the first three words I say. I also would never trust a repair job of any technology I cared about to these people -- based on what I observed of their lack of basic expertise and talk-down-to-you bedside manner, Pacific Repair is an excellent candidate for doing 'half-ass repairs because we think you don't have the expertise to know better'. Better value for new components at NCIX, better value on used parts at Free Geek, and better value & peace of mind for repair jobs at the Hackery.

Does not stand by there products, rude support staff, gaslighting and lying management and store…read moreprocedures. I recently bought a full kit here, Motherboard, Cpu, Ram, NVME. When they sold the Motherboard, they did a Pin check. They said it was to ensure no physical damage, i.e. I did not bend or break the pins when setting it up, as this would void the warranty. I understand this, and generally this is fair. However, once getting this machine all set up, and it running for ~1 day, the machine stopped booting after installing a NVME drive. I disassembled the machine and diagnosed deeply and found a single burnt pin. A pin likely related to NVME (as I could get it to boot without one installed). This is likely due to a short or defect in the motherboard, and not due to physical damage (PHOTO INCLUDED). I took it apart and took it to the store. As soon as I stepped in I explained everything I diagnosed, and mid-sentence as soon as I said the word pin, a staff member told me to leave, that I was getting no service. On a $500 motherboard. I explained that he pin was burnt/shorted, and not physically damaged, and pleaded that they look and diagnose it. Their service technician looked with a cheap $2 magnifying glass and proclaimed I broke the pin off. They refused to follow the steps I took to get the computer to boot and falsely claimed the warranty was 100% void and that they would do no Exchange on the faulty goods they sold. So I sent the Motherboard to asus, for $70 out of pocket shipping, and a $300 replacement to hold me over until the RMA was complete. Asus did not claim physical damage, they repaired the Unit and are currently shipping it back to me. Despite this massive inconvenience, completely rude sales staff, and deceptive/incompetent support engineers who don't even have the correct tools to do a diagnosis (A $2 magnifying glass was not sufficient to properly see a single tiny pin in clarity), I offered them a reasonable offer. Pay the $70 shipping, and 20% of the replacement board, for a total for about $130 to make myself whole for this mistake, which they ignored. Due to this gaslighting, lying, bad customer service, bad diagnosis, and doing everything they can to not stand by products they sell, I will never be purchasing anything at Canada Computers, and I advise anyone buying things, just use Memory Express or Amazon, don't give these dopes your money.

Largest BC location…read more Parking is plentiful in the dumpy parking lot in front. Lots of random bushes. The store is surprisingly large. Turns out this is their main warehouse location. Staff were friendly. As of the time of the writing, customers are not allowed to browse the store on their own, so one of the staff followed me around. Guess they're afraid customers are going to lick the boxes during the pandemic or something. She was helpful and answered all my questions. Selection is fairly decent but the store doesn't have everything, especially in the fan department. With that said, I was able to find a suitable substitute for what I needed. Good place to get parts in a pinch, now that NCIX is gone.
