A decent place for gyro that is relatively hidden within the Webster/League City area. The best thing about this place is the variety of customizable options for building your own platter. I personally go with the chicken/lamb combo platter whenever I get gyro, but you can choose from grilled fish, shrimp, and beef. The condiment, side topping, and sauce choices are endless as well. Chicken was a little dry this time but smothering it with tzatziki sauce made it less noticeable. Will be back to give it another shot. You have to ring the bell for service since they're busy in the back most of the time, but the staff have always been friendly when I've eaten here. read more

Lots of menu combinations so we were a bit overwhelmed but ended up with a gyro platter and a chicken platter along with a small bowl w/3 items - dolmas, hummus and falafel. They give you plenty of pita which is nice as many places are stingy! I really enjoyed my platter of gyro, rice, tzatziki, salad along with the vegetarian bowl we got. Gyro Guys was better than I expected. Everything they cook is homemade, fresh and piping hot to your table. The service was great and the prices aren't bad. Gyro Guys seems like it only caters to crazy sports groups, but they're family friendly. Our food was perfectly seasoned and we can pick out whatever dipping sauces we wanted, no extra cost. Gyro Guys is ten times better than Gyro King. They cater, their dining area is quite clean, and they have food for young children too. Their bathrooms need major renovation, though. Gyro Guys is packed inside a busy strip, so they're easy to miss. You need to try their Gyro fries I can't wait to come here again. read more

I had such high expectations but overall it was pretty underwhelming. The food itself was not bad but just ok. I got the lamb over rice and removed the onions and tomatoes. It ended up being just rice, lettuce and cucumbers with the lamb and it was just so simple compared to other bowls I've had at other restaurants. They do give a good portion of meat which I appreciated. Also disappointing was the hot sauce. It tasted just like franks hot sauce. Nothing unique. They probably have the best hummus I've tasted in a longgggg time!! I ordered here for lunch and was blown away at how delicious the hummus was. We ordered via door dash and it actually came in a pretty reasonable time so I was happy about that. Fro my meal, I ordered the lamb gyro bowl which was a pretty good size. I enjoyed the meat as it was well seasoned but I would've preferred it just a little more shredded so it would be easier to break up. My husband and I popped in for dinner this evening. He had two lamb gyros amd I had a chiclen shawarma sandwich. Both were decent and reasonably priced. Thank GOD they changed fries from that soggy slop they had before because I was in the mood to eat dirty tonight. They were perfectly crispy and not greasy. I wouldve eaten the old former greasy soggy junk fries they had cause any port in a storm, but I was pleasantly surprised that they made an effort in changing whatever they were doing before, because it wasn't cutting the mustard. I worked late and was tired so ordered Uber Eats. I haven't had chicken Schwarma in awhile. Sounded good especially when I read it had the long pickle strips. Some places don't do that and that just makes it. It said tortilla so I paid extra for pita. I'm used to a more yellow on the chicken...the authentic mix. Now that I'm trying the pita with the hummus I ordered, it isn't that great. I know they have a vast menu. Tacos..,burritos....this just isn't authentic. I can't believe Gyro Guys came to Friendswood!! Halal rice platters are delicious if you've never had them before! It's a very filling meal which includes basmati rice, salad, your choice of meat, and topped with their special white sauce and hot sauce if you choose. They serve traditional gyros as well or french fry platters, but I prefer the rice platters cause it feels a little more comforting and filling. This particular visit we tried their original lamb rice platter, the lamb/chicken combo platter, the tilapia rice platter, and a lamb shawarma to go. A large costs $11.99 and a small costs $7.99 and comes with pita bread on the side. A small is already very filling on its own, and a large can easily last you 2 meals. All the meats are very flavorful and you can tell have been marinaded for at least a day. I also particularly liked how fresh all the ingredients tasted, and the food comes out piping hot in only a couple minutes. Compared to other halal rice platter places in Houston, this Gyro Guys is a lot less greasy and cleaner. We will DEFINITELY be back very soon! read more

Why 4 stars? Because this was a pretty unique Greek experience. --- --- --- My first job when I was 15 years old was sacking groceries at the now defunct Randall's that was next door to The Gyro Guys. I'm not even totally sure if where The Gyro Guys is was technically inside of Randall's during my childhood, but either way it's pretty funny to go back in time and imagine that I'd be eating gyros from this building in 2020. Speaking of, I enjoyed said gyro. I opted for beef because I'm not a fan of the traditional lamb. I've certainly had worse gyros but I've always had better. My wife and I also ordered a salad and it was similarly good, but not amazing. In addition to oil and vinegar and the usual Greek dressing, they also provided us some kind of hot sauce that I determined was several levels too spicy for me after the tiniest droplet touched my tongue. Speaking of spicy, the salad included jalapenos, which was definitely not something I've ever seen before in a Greek salad. Maybe it's a Texas thing? Either way, we quickly removed them. I do wish the salads had come with pita bread instead of jalapenos, which is what we're used to with the Greek places near our house in Tampa. But overall, we enjoyed our dinner and were happy that this place was open when we were craving a bit of a later dinner. read more

I have been wanting to come here for quite some time. There aren't many places in the area that offer gyros and sadly lol I wait for the Greek festival every year to get an overpriced gyro lol. My order was to go and it consisted of a lamb gyro and a side order of grape leaves. It came with additional sides of tzatziki sauce and a spicy sauce which I can only describe as being a cross between red taqueria sauce and hot buffalo wing sauce with red pepper flakes in it. The gyro itself was fresh and delicious and the pita or naan bread was quite soft and fresh. It included shredded leaf lettuce, onions, cucumbers, tzatziki and of course the grilled lamb. Awesome flavor! Now my grape leaves kind of threw me off as I am used to hot cooked to order grape leaves but these however were served cold? Now that's how it's eaten abroad as a cold appetizer, I'm not sure but it wasn't for me. The flavor was good though. I will definitely return to do the check in offer which looks like a great deal and on some occasion another app offers up to 25% cash back with repeat visits from your linked card. It is served on top of a seasoned long grain rice and a salad consisting of shredded romaine (I hope the romaine scare is over!), chopped tomatoes, and white onions. Thank God we have a halal place on this side of town now! We chose to stop by for dinner the other night (they close at 11 PM on weekdays), and we're glad we did! I choose the small combo chicken/lamb plate for $7.99 with tzatziki and hot sauce on the side. For a small, I was able to split it into several meals. My mom got a large and it really was large! Both the chicken and the lamb were flavorful, but the lamb was my favorite. Their pita bread was warm and pillowy soft! I'll definitely be coming back! read more

We went into the establishment to order a Togo. Cashier was pleasant. Ordered both beef and chicken shwarma wraps, falafel, and order of hummus. Pita bread had more of a tortilla consistency, ok in taste. The beef was like an extremely bland barbacoa consistency with no taziki flavor. Or flavor at all really. The chicken had a more Buffalo sauce thing going on. Portions were good but just so boring. The "falafal" were tiny and tasted more like hush puppies if anything. Fries were limp but had a good flavor when paired with ketchup. Hummus was okay....had a lot of lemon flavor going on but I was happy it tasted like something! Asked for extra hot sauce and when I tried the sauce at home, it was basically like lemon sauce. So sour but not even a tingle of heat. Greek-ish at a high price. Ordered via Yelp. No issues with the order experience. But...the food was only "sort of" Greek. It was pretty basic on flavor. Honestly, the generic gyro at the local movie theater concessions is more authentic. I paid $50 including tip, for a meal for two: 2 gyros, 2 fries, 2 soft drinks. That's about 35% higher than normal. The fries were basic string variety, but not firm or crunchy. Kind of like Al dente noodles. Ever since I moved to the SE side, I've been craving Halal food. I used to go to the Gyro King in the medical center. So when I saw this pop up in on my new places to eat, I was super excited. When you drive by, it's a bit confusing the sign out front has every kind of food listed. However, when I see Gyro Guys I assume they should have at least chicken/gyro combo. The place is a lot bigger than I thought. My previous experiences with halal food have been small brick and mortars or food trucks, so wasn't expecting a full sized restaurant. It's order at the counter, I got the large combo. It comes with rice, gyro, chicken, and a salad, topped with the white sauce. I took it to go and they give you a small container of their hot sauce and white sauce. I wasn't a fan of their red sauce, more like buffalo sauce, so glad it was on the side, their white sauce is delicious, wish they had packed the to go container with more. I also order a samosa, that thing was huge! delicious too. I also got their baklava which comes with 2 pieces. They say it takes about 10-15 minutes to prepare but as we were waiting it came out much sooner. The serving size was huge and could definitely feed 2 people or one me. Gyro Guys gets 3 stars in my book. The restaurant is very clean and the service is always great. However, the food consistency is hit or miss.. I've come here on several occasions and a few of those times, my meat was on the drier side. Another dislike is their white sauce is entirely too thick--making it take more sauce to thoroughly cover the platter. I'm used to more of a creamy texture they easily coats my dish. For positives, the flavor and portions are great! This balances out the other mishaps and I won't rate them less because when it averages out, they pass.
