Teagle is by far the best Fitness Center at Cornell. It is conveniently located, has a swimming…read morepool and has two floors creating a great cultural split for working out. The top floor is dedicated to machines (cardio and isolation resistance training) and the bottom floor is dedicated to Olympic lifts, free weights, and bar weights. So naturally the top floor is friendly for people of all body types; people don't have to worry about being intimidated, judged, or having to deal with meat-head behavior (like excessive grunting). The bottom floor is where the intense (potentially aspiring) muscle men and women go, and they don't have to be bothered by people who are less intense about excercise than them. The gym does get crowded, but far less than Noyes or Helen Newman. I have never had to wait for a treadmill longer than 1 hour here. Most of the time you can sign up for a spot within 30 minutes of your arrival, so you can comfortably do a little resistance training before your cardio workout without waiting endlessly afterwards (like you have to at Noyes).

This is the largest athletic building on campus for non athletes. There is a pretty nice swimming…read morepool, a room that holds yoga and other classes, a free weight gym and a cardio / weight training equipment room. Teagle is conveniently located on campus, so students and staff can go better classes or right after class. The only negative of the building is the locker rooms. They are pretty outdated and several of the toilets and sinks are in pretty bad shape. The locker rooms could use a renovation. As far as the workout facilities though, there is a large range of equipment and plenty of space.

To say this gym is crowded is an insane understatement. This is easily the most dangerous location…read moreon Cornell's campus for blunt trauma injuries (dense crowds + occasional accidentally dropped weights = you are going to get hit). Peak hours are now 5:00-11:30pm (close). In fact you may have to wait up to an hour just to get let in during the January new years resolution rush. They don't start doing this until the gym reaches about one and half times the allowable fire code maximum occupancy. Basically between the hours of 6-11pm the gym is extremely unsafe. I have had one bone fractured due to someone dropping an 45lb bar + several weights on me near the Olympic lift area (there isn't enough space to stand and lift so people will lift almost a few inches away from you). On another occasion someone dropped a 100 pound dumbbell in the fee weight area - it bounced a few inches and cut and bruised my ankle. I fear for safety every time I enter this gym during peak hours. I have never had any accidental injury from any other gym at Cornell or elsewhere, and I don't go to Noyes that often. The gym is reasonably uncrowded during the mid-day, so this is the time to go if you want to avoid serious injuries. Otherwise, stay away at all costs.

I like to lift. I lived on West. it's no surprise then that Noyes was my second home…read more In addition to its convenient location for those on West, the facility and the equipment is pretty new. But those perks are offset by some not so great things. During peak hours, usually 5-7pm on weekdays, the gym gets hella crowded with free weights and towels scattered around. It's almost expected that you'd have to share benches or machines during peak times. The gym has these awkward support columns that clutter the open space and make the free weights section feel like a cluster fock. Avoid the zoo and go off peak, and if you've timed it right you almost feel like you've got the whole gym to yourself. The variety of machines is pretty limited, probably because the gym is so small. The other gyms, Teagle and Helen Newman, have a cable crossover machine but Noyes doesn't. There was also a bench that was broken at the beginning of summer and wasn't fixed until early December. But overall, thumbs up for this fitness center. The convenience of the overpriced quicky mart right next to the gym comes in handy, and the hours are pretty accommodating.

But here I am, Ms. Ruthy coming in 7 days a week, not to brag , but sometimes I'm working out even twice a day!! Cuz I love it that much. Look I only have good things to say about FLX Fitclub. The instructors are so friendly, enthusiastic and very helpful. Everyone I have met in the classes have been so kind and welcoming. The gym itself is always really clean, organized and everything is wiped down after it has been used. So far I haven't taken a class that I didn't like. I feel like there are a lot of different options, depending on what your looking for. I really enjoy their cycling classes. Body pump is a must. I've felt comfortable enough to try things that I have never tried before like Barre, it was definitely harder then it looks. Then Sh'Bam was something I'd never thought I'd like and It is SO much fun. The class goes by so quickly. I love the Bodyflow and core classes on Fridays. It's a Great workout to do back to back, You feel very zen and sweaty. I have yet to try BodyCombat, BodyAttack and Grit. Not gonna lie, I'm a little nervous, but I'll report back and let you know what I think. Look...if you're looking for a clean gym with an array of great classes, amazing instructors and a fun crew of people to work out with. FLX is for you. Just come and take the 3 classes, to try it out. I bet you'll love it! Anyways thank you FLX family for starting me on my journey to getting healthy!

Prior to the gym, I never thought I would enjoy working out in a group, but I don't think I could go back to working out alone. The space is a converted warehouse that they have made their home. It gives plenty of room for all of us to workout with room to spare. I have never felt like the gym was crowded because we always have room for more people. There is very good equipment from wall-mounted racks to gymnast rings, to sleds that we push/pull, kettlebells, etc. There is an astroturf section which we do sled pushes, sprints, and the valor olympics on. The gym is for all ages and all levels of fitness and goals. We have kids to young adults to people in their fifties. Best of all Valor is a family. We adopt new members into the family everyday.

Visiting from NYC and I wish I had this Crunch in the city. Extremely spacious and clean…read more(including bathrooms), and I can't imagine how it can get crowded - I'm here on a 9am Sunday and there's barely anyone here (then again, they're probably at church). Very well lighted. Group fitness classes and studios look amazing. Nearly double the power racks as the NYC Crunches, rows of benches/dumbbells and cardio machines, and lots of weight machines as well. Everything works, as far as I could see. I have no experience with the staff and/or management/billing, so I can't respond those comments regarding that. Otherwise, I had a great experience.

This is a very corrupt gym that defrauds its members, and if you read some of the other comments…read morealready posted about them on Google, you'll get an idea of how they bill you incorrectly and never get back to you when you try to lodge a complaint or get it worked out. (You'll notice that they do seem to post the same robotic "sorry about that" reply to each complaint in these reviews, as if there's nothing they can do about anything.) My experience was a year ago (I spent months trying to get it worked out and finally gave up, just took the hit, I'm 71 and the stress of the fruitless attempt was affecting my health). They assigned me a personal trainer who was wonderful, but out of the blue they fired her. They kept saying that they would assign me another, that they would get back to me that day, etc. etc., but they never did and they charged me for four months without providing a trainer (and that's the trainer's fee of $360, on top of the membership fee). They make it virtually impossible to get anyone by phone or email or via their website, and when you speak to the person at the front desk, they smile and say they understand and will get back to you that day - which of course, they don't. Don't be fooled by the friendly advice on their website about how to pursue a complaint - the routes they suggest are completely non-functional.
