The top floor is dedicated to machines (cardio and isolation resistance training) and the bottom floor is dedicated to Olympic lifts, free weights, and bar weights. So naturally the top floor is friendly for people of all body types; people don't have to worry about being intimidated, judged, or having to deal with meat-head behavior (like excessive grunting). The bottom floor is where the intense (potentially aspiring) muscle men and women go, and they don't have to be bothered by people who are less intense about excercise than them. The gym does get crowded, but far less than Noyes or Helen Newman. I have never had to wait for a treadmill longer than 1 hour here. Most of the time you can sign up for a spot within 30 minutes of your arrival, so you can comfortably do a little resistance training before your cardio workout without waiting endlessly afterwards (like you have to at Noyes).

Teagle is conveniently located on campus, so students and staff can go better classes or right after class. The only negative of the building is the locker rooms. They are pretty outdated and several of the toilets and sinks are in pretty bad shape. The locker rooms could use a renovation. As far as the workout facilities though, there is a large range of equipment and plenty of space.

Nice array of group fitness, though I think Tues/Thurs should offer something in the 11am-1pm timeframe (preferably yoga). It has a pool, hot tub, sauna, many eliptical, stationary bikes and treadmills as well as other types of stationary machines. The view of the inlet and nearby park is wonderful while you work out. The free weight area is nice and the members and staff are very willing to help you and show you how to use the machines. The personal training pros can really help you meet your fitness goals. Everything they have to offer is awesome and a day pass for an individual or family is great price to do multiple activities. From their aquatic center with a competition pool, splash pool for kids, and hot tub and even a water slide to open skate with rentals included. Overall a great time and easy to come and go throughout the day. Grab a bite to eat in the village of Skaneateles or try the community centers new concession stand that's operated by a local favorite, at long last!

I was shocked how old it appeared to be. Everything in that locker room was old and dirty. What I especially did not like was the lack of easy steps into the lap pool. I found the ladder difficult to use in order to get out. I have a disability that limits mobility. The pool area was rather beat up and needs attention. I did not see the work out areas. I did notice the coffee maker in the lobby was broken. If this is the only YMCA you know you would not realize the comparable differences. The staff is very friendly and helpful when determining when the courts are free for students and are accommodating when you need to chance a time or cancel last minute.
