Used to love this place, but new policies and lack of transparency changed that. I'm writing this to help fellow shooters make an informed choice. I used to be a big fan of The Gun Range because of their friendly staff and their policy allowing outside ammo. As someone who buys in bulk from Cheaper Than Dirt, being able to bring my own rounds makes this hobby much more affordable. Unfortunately, my last visit with my son was a major disappointment: Shotgun Ammo Price Gouging: We brought a new Boss 25 to break in, only to be told we could no longer use outside shotgun ammo. They quoted me $48 for a box of 25 shells. For context, I buy 250 shells online for $86. That is a massive markup. Misleading Safety Claims: When I questioned the policy change, the manager claimed it was due to a fire caused by "faulty shotgun ammo" at another range. I looked this up while waiting; the fire she referenced was actually attributed to faulty air filtration, not ammo. Poor Customer Service: We bought two targets but only ended up using one. When I tried to return the unused, unrolled target, I was told it was "unreturnable" because it was rolled up--despite the fact that the clerk was the one who rolled it when selling it to us. A private business has every right to change its policies, but they should be honest about it. Don't hide behind safety excuses to justify inflated prices. They've lost my business and my trust. read more

Went with my GF for her first time. As gun ranges go, it's solid. The big plus for me is that the people I dealt with were very nice and did not have that typical gun range attitude that you're likely to find. I saw them interacting with people that were clearly first time shooters and they seemed very nice and helpful. As someone that was clearly experienced, they didn't ask me a lot of questions, and just gave me the information on their range protocol and I was good to go. I went on a weekend and it does get busy. We had to wait about 20 minutes for a lane, which really isn't that bad. I appreciated the fact that you can bring your own ammo with a few restrictions such as in rounds, tracer, steel, core, etc. Nothing too over-the-top, and all very reasonable. I did not buy any ammo there, so I can't comment on the prices. The range rental fees are for as long as you like to shoot, which is very nice. They have a number of handguns and long guns for rent, the only restriction there is you must use their ammo and you must have at least two people... For some reason, they will not rent a firearm to single shooters. The shooting positions are a little narrow, but are absolutely fine for two people. There is not much room behind each position, especially if there are many people on the range, so keep that in mind. It is good to note that since they allow a wide range of calibers, you may find yourself on a line with people shooting long rifles and large caliber handguns. If you're a first time shooter, or don't like it crowded, I would strongly recommend going during the week. They have extended hours until 9 PM every day, but Sunday, which is great. The Saturday that we went the range was completely full, and some shooters were shooting large caliber rifles, as well as a few people had full auto or maybe they rented them. It's definitely a little overwhelming if you're not prepared for it! read more

My first time shooting range was in Florida and i had a pretty good experience on it. It stayed ingrained in my mind. They walked thru everything and made sure things were in order before proceeding next This one didn't meet much of the expectations. There were no assistants inside the shooting range to help out and troubleshoot if things failed. They let customers do whatever and didn't even pay attention to what happened inside the shooting range chambers. They made some mistakes in inventory and pricing. Quite disappointed. Visited this spot for the first time last night. Curtis and crew were awesome! Very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable.

Took my friend here for his bday on a Wednesday at noon-ish; good timing-it wasn't busy. We walked in and completed the waiver and handed our ID, everything was quick and painless. Our "instructor" asked us if we ever shot before and I said no, my friend had a bit more experience, but not much. The "instructor" proceeded with showing us the training vid (2 mins) ish and drilled us the importance of safety, cool. What makes this review a 3 star was that I was asked in the beginning if I had ANY sort of experience and I said "no." Our instructor explained the whole thing as if this was nothing new to us and was at one point looked pretty frustrated when I couldn't hold/aim the pistol correctly. Hence the "instructor". We were already nervous to begin with and we do no need that additional stress from someone who was there to teach us. There were about 4 other guys and everyone was nice except the guy we got, bad luck I guess. One of the guys were nice enough to tell me to "pick a gun that's closer to the size of your hand." Our "instructor" did not say bleep*. When we did our stuff, NOT ONCE, did he come in and check on us. NOT ONCE. Honestly, it was a good experience for us bc we made it alright, but as far as coming back here? Nahhhh. Train the dude with the backwards hat how to "instruct" customers patiently. read more

Visited for the first time yesterday. Right off the bat, it was refreshing to see shooting range staff that looked like me for once. The guys were super chill and it made for a pleasant experience. During my session, my gun jammed (I made the mistake of buying cheap bulk ammo) and I was unable to get it unjammed. Side note: buy brass, not steel cartridge ammo. One of the staff members was kind enough to assist me so I could finish the rest of my session. I'll definitely come back to train and will likely take a private lesson in the future. read more

Came in for the first time solo this past Tuesday around noon. Just bought my first firearm last week and was excited to shoot it. Was a little nervous as it was only my 2nd time at a range and I'm still new to guns/range etiquette in general. Walked in, let them know I wanted to shoot my own stuff (if you want a rental you need a 2nd person) filled out the forms, no problems at all. Quick safety run through. Took my bf here on his birthday for his first time shooting! Cool experience from beginning to finish but it's VERY pricey. Staffs were chill & knowledgeable, which I expected nothing less of it since it's a shooting range. Russ was our instructor & he was pretty attentive. Answered all questions we had. Beginners are welcomed. The mandatory safety class teaches you the stand, how to load/unload, etc. everything you need to know, they'll teach ya. The instructor will make sure you're doing everything by the book for everyone's safety before they leave you to shoot by yourself. Once you finish, you sweep the shells onto the range. Pretty much just clean up after yourself. We were in & out of here with 1-1.5hrs? 2 of us, 1 lane, $15 each for safety class, 9mm glock 19, 9mm Springfield, 2 boxes of ammo(50 per box) & 2 targets...all this came out to be $170.05 For the price, it's definitely not something I'd do all the time. read more

I went with my 13 year old son and they would not let him in. First they said the heavy metal concentrations in the air were too high for a kid. Then they said it wasn't safe for him. A search through OSHA, NIOSH, CDC and the NSSF showed that there are specific Action Levels for lead exposure. What they do NOT have is separate ALs for kids and adults. Furthermore, numerous studies on those websites showed that customer exposure is incidental and not a health hazard. Therefore, if it's unsafe for my 13 year old, it's unsafe for all other customers as well. As to the range not being safe, they didn't bother to ask me if he had any experience at ranges, whether he understood and could follow instructions. Nothing. Since he can and has firearms experience, then the range itself must be unsafe. Therefore, according to two employees, The Gun Range is both a health hazard AND a safety hazard. Fortunately, some quick calls to the Firing Line, Phila Training Academy, and Frank's showed that those facilities are both health safe and range safe, and me an my 13 year old are welcome. read more

After my first time coming here I was very satisfied in all aspects. I just bought a new firearm and needed some help configuring the mag release for a lefty. They helped me with that which was a relief. I've been to one other shop/range that wasn't nearly as welcoming as this place. I look forward to going back soon! read more

Great place to throw some lead and you can use your own ammo at no additional charge! The pricing is great for the time you get, which is unlimited range time! My wife and spent a couple of hours there and the staff was more than happy to help with all of our questions. They even offer a quick little "class" on gun safety. They even helped me out by removing an attachment from my rifle because I didn't have any tools with me. Great customer service!! As a first time shooter, my wife felt welcomed there. Targets will run you between $1-$3 depending on what type/size you get. Ammo is priced like most ranges. Not super expensive, but not cheap. You can bring your own ammo at no extra cost. So my friend Alex took me shooting for the first time and my nerves were high. But the people running this place were awesome! I can't believe how easy it was to get comfortable there. The whole reason we did this is because I'm planning on becoming a cop soon and he thought of THIS creative birthday gift. So we walk in and it's pretty sketchy looking. Long hallway, bullets being fired. But I guess that's only because it's a gun range... As soon as we walk through the doors the guy tells us to sign waivers and give them our IDs. After we pay, they told me and my friend to sit down and wait for a safety class which took 2 minutes to wait for and 5 minutes to teach. The guy was set on letting us know that safety is the number one thing there. And he taught us how to handle our guns. After the class, we went into the range and he coached us while using live rounds. After shooting a 9mm and 45mm out of glocks, he let us at it... There were other people there shooting shooting rifles, shotguns, and all types of weapons. Our visit was about 20 minutes. But I'm definitely going back with my friend and working our way across the fun catalog they've got. 10/10 if it wasn't 5/5 on here. read more

The staff here is all amazing and professionals and very friendly. They take COVID measures very serious hand sanitizers through out the facility, cleaning periodically, and only allowing a certain number of people in at a time. This is a very clean range and the staff here work very hard and are phenomenal. The customer service here is amazing and top notch. Also, with safety instruction lessons they are excellent teaching. Then after telling her I was looking for a place to come and sight in my new AR, she said "what do you want?" I tried to tell her again and she hung up on me. I walked in with a group of friends excited to have a fun experience. We were greeted nicely and handed out a few waivers to fill out. All of the initial signs pointed to a positive experience. We completed the waivers and were asked to show identification, but one of the members of our group was not a US citizen. Their policy is that foreign identification holders must present their passports, which is reasonable given the high-risk nature of the activity. However, my friend did not have his passport on him so he was unable to participate. I decided to separate from the larger group with my friend and leave. The series of events that transpired next left a very sour taste in my mouth. The waiver that I had previously signed included my name, address, phone number, and ID number. This is information that I do not like leaving in the hands of strangers, so I said that I would hold onto the waiver (with intentions of destroying it at a later time). Without missing a beat, the gentleman behind the counter said I could not do that and reached his hand over the counter to claw at the waiver. I said I would rip it up first but he wasn't having any of it and his clawing continued. He practically leapt over the counter to snatch the paper from my hand. It was enough of a struggle that the waiver tore, leaving both of us holding half of a torn waiver. He proceeded to crumple the portion that he snatched and throw it into the trashcan, stating afterwards that the waiver is private property. I find it repulsively irresponsible for a business to dispose of a document containing so much sensitive identifying information the way they did rather than putting it through a shredder. Regardless, the point is that I was not a patron of the business and my information should be mine to dispose of as I see fit. This is a serious privacy concern and I find it hard to reconcile with the fact that my information is now in the hands of a business with such questionable practices. It's almost suspicious how quickly things escalated as soon as I said I wanted to hold onto the waiver, and even more so that I was not allowed to destroy the waiver before it was snatched out of my hands and "disposed" of. This is not a unique experience as fellow Yelper Marlon P. posted a review on 1/27/2018 describing an identical experience. I will be reaching out to Groupon for a refund, and I hesitate to recommend this shooting range to anybody who values their privacy and the safety of their personal information. For what it's worth, the other members of the group who stayed said they had fun. read more
